JOHN NEDUZAK

JOHN JOSEPH NEDUZAK August 7, 1919 - October 27, 2004 With a strong will, Dad's fight with his illness ended peacefully at the Beausejour Hospital on Wednesday, October 27, 2004. He was 85 years of age. Dad will be missed and forever remembered by his daughter Marilyn Kazina (Allen), and son Chester (Brenda); grandchildren, Colin and Robynne Kazina, Evan and Derek Neduzak. He was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Violet (nee Haier) on July 22, 2000; also predeceased by his father Albert 1980 and mother Mary 1977. He is survived by his sister Jean Jurewicz and brother Joe Neduzak, and sister-in-law Violet; as well as brother-in-law Eddy Haier; sisters-in-law, Bernice Bukoski, Mildred Burek and several nieces and nephews. Dad was born icon in Cooks Creek and raised in Hazelglen. In 1943, he married Violet Haier of Hazelridge and together they farmed in Hazelglen. They moved to Beausejour in 1957 and Dad continued residence there until his demise. Throughout his life, Dad worked hard as a farmer. He retired from farming and as a Commissioner from RCAF Beausejour in 1984. He also served as a Councillor for the Brokenhead Municipality form 1951 to 1959. He was a life member of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He and Mom enjoyed several bus trips in Canada, the United States and 20 years of lake life at Bird River. Farming was always Dad's first love. Even after he stopped farming actively, he was always interested in how the crops were doing on his farm. He would take frequent trips during the season to check. Dad enjoyed planting his garden every summer, berry picking and working in his sanctuary "the garage". He was always ready to help with any job around the house or yard and was "Mr. Fix It" to all his family and friends. He was a natural "jack of all trades". Dad was happiest when surrounded by his family and contributing to the ringing noise of people talking. He enjoyed a lively conversation and exchanging stories of "long ago". Dad will be remembered for his honesty, tough exterior, and strong work ethic which he instilled in his children and their families. He was very proud of his grandchildren and their attributes. Chester and Marilyn are very grateful for the kindness and care to Dad by the Beausejour Hospital and Health Sciences Centre. Special thank you to Dr. A. Leylek (Health Sciences Centre) and Dr. D. Corder and all family, friends, neighbours, Dad's "coffee buddies", and Fr. Owen Steeves for your kindness and service. STEPHEN BOND

STEPHEN BOND Stephen Bond of Steinbach passed away quietly in the early hours of Thursday, October 28, 2004 at the Bethesda Place Personal Care Home. Stephen was born icon June 1, 1917. He didn't talk too much about the early years. Both his parents died before he was two years old and his grade school years were spent in foster homes. Very early in his life he recognized the need for a good education, so in exchange for the privilege of attending school he worked for farmers in the area, later taking factory jobs until finally in 1941 he was able to enroll at the United College (presently the University of Winnipeg). After earning his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1946, he took further courses at the University of Manitoba to obtain his Bachelor of Education. Stephen's Manitoba teaching experience took him to Emerson and Morris, teaching English and French. It was while he was in Morris that he met Chris Baker whom he married in 1958. In 1955 he took a teaching position in Fort Frances, Ontario where he remained until his retirement; at which time he and Chris moved to Steinbach. Stephen's church was an important part of his life as was his music. He loved the old hymns as well as the Gilbert & Sullivan operas, and was often heard singing a portion of one of those productions. Both of Stephen's stepdaughters felt blessed when he consented to sing at their weddings. During the summers of 1954 and 1955 Stephen attended the Banff School of Fine Arts where he obtained a certificate in choir conducting, which he later put to use conducting the church choir in Fort Frances, as well as conducting "The Messiah" in International Falls. Always learning, he took a hand-writing analysis course in the late 80's and appreciated any opportunity to practice this art. Stephen is survived by one brother Bill of Anaheim, California; two stepdaughters, Louise Janke (Lloyd) of Winnipeg, Dorothy Dixon (Mick - deceased) of Swan River, and all of their children and grandchildren.
