NANCY CARTER

NANCY GERTRUDE CARTER (nee PETTINGER) On Saturday, October 16, 2004, our beloved mother Nancy Gertrude Carter (nee Pettinger) passed away peacefully in Vancouver. She was raised at Carroll where she and her siblings spent many happy hours playing a variety of musical instruments and singing under the direction of their mother. She graduated from Normal School in Brandon and taught school until her marriage. She returned to teaching after her three children were in school - first at William Osler and then John M. King and Sargent Park. She was a longtime member of St. Paul's United Church where she was a member of the UCW and the choir. She loved nature and the harmony of it - how the rustling leaves and the breezes seemed to be talking to each other, when one really listened. We are proud, not in a pretentious way, to have called her "Mother." She raised her children with a soft hand, a gentle heart and a caring ear. Mom was giving and loving all her days.
