OLIVE LOUISE BAYLUK (nee CHAMBERS) September 5, 1920 - October 11, 2004 Peacefully, with her family ever present, Mom went to be with her dear Norman or Chick as she called him. Mom was predeceased by her husband Norman; two infant children, Norma, David Ross; her parents, Russell and Kate Chambers; and four sisters. Mom will be lovingly remembered by her children, Darryl and Judy Bayluk, Darlene and George Morhun and Dennis and Elizabeth Bayluk. She was blessed with seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren whom she adored with all her heart. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 14 at St. John's Anglican Church, 135 Anderson Ave. A family interment will be held at a later date. Flowers are gratefully declined. JOHN (JACK) CARLSON Jack Carlson, aged 70 years of Matheson Island, died tragically October 8, 2004 on Lake Winnipeg. Jack was born
to Kathleen and Ingemar Carlson on June 27, 1934. His memory will be forever cherished and held dear by his loving and devoted wife, Dianne (nee Remillard); his only child, Monique and her husband Rob Gibbons; and his grandchildren, Michelle and Sean, who were his pride and joy. Also surviving him are his seven siblings, Dave (Gert) Carlson of BC, Allie Mowat of Selkirk, Edna Bennett of Winnipeg, Vernie Bennett of Headingley, Joe (Edie) Carlson of Matheson Island, Millie Bruce of Matheson Island and Bernard (Elva) Carlson of Thompson; as well as numerous other relatives and friends. Jack was a hard worker and held jobs in B.C., at the Gimli Air Force Base, and in Winnipeg at Furnasman, Etna Htg. and CN before moving north to Berens River to work for the Frontier School Division. The family lived there for six years before Jack transferred to Matheson Island to be nearer his parents and siblings. From his retirement in 1989-90 and until his passing, Jack made his livelihood by commercial fishing and trapping. The family takes great comfort in knowing that Jack died where he was the happiest: on the lake. They wish to extend their deepest gratitude to all those who participated in the search for Jack and to everyone who provided solace and support during this most difficult time. A service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 13 at Riverton Community Hall, 175 Riverton Ave., Riverton, MB with Rev. Neill von Gunten officiating. ANNE-MARIE COYLE (nee BOITEAU) At the age of 93, Anne-Marie died peacefully at the Golden West Centennial Lodge in Winnipeg on October 9, 2004. She is survived by her son Dan (Lorraine) and daughter Suzanne Schrofel (Dennis); six grandchildren, Diane Unruh (Mark), Richard Coyle (Caron) and Deborah; John (Marcia), Robert (Chrissy) and Jim Schrofel; seven great-grandchildren, Brendan and Matthew Unruh; Kaycee Coyle; Rhett, Jackson, Adam and Erik Schrofel. She is survived also by nephews, John (Roberta) and Bill (Susan) Fitzgerald and her niece Maureen Ross (Fitzgerald). Two sisters-in-law survive her, Evelyn Coyle and Gertrude Coyle and their children. Numerous cousins of the Boiteau, Brunet, Cloutier, Dansereau and Jutras sides of the family survive her as well. She was predeceased by her father Sigefroid Boiteau; mother Florine (Jutras) Boiteau (later Cardinal); her sister Germaine and brother-in-law C.J. (Fitz) Fitzgerald and her niece Michele Fitzgerald. Anne-Marie was born
in Letellier, MB on August 2, 1911; lived in Kenora and Dryden for some years and spent most of her adult life in Winnipeg. She obtained her early schooling with the Sisters of the Holy Names in St. Jean Baptiste, MB and then attended St. Mary's Academy where she obtained in 1931 her diploma as Piano Solo Performer from the University of Toronto Conservatory of Music as well as the Royal College of Music in London, England. Music was a lifelong interest and passion for Anne-Marie. For years, she performed in many recitals, taught piano and accompanied many of Winnipeg's finest professional singers both on stage and radio. As well, she was a very accomplished organist and played at countless weddings over the years. She retired from St. Boniface Hospital as a long-service employee. Anne-Marie's family would like to thank all the many courtesies and care extended to her over the years, including the Victorian Order of Nurses, her associate residents at the Sts. Peter and Paul Manor, the caregivers from Homecare and especially the wonderful staff at Golden West Centennial Lodge. Your unfailing devotion and attention to her are deeply appreciated. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Bernadette Church, 820 Cottonwood on Friday, October 15 at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Bernard Pinet, O.M.I. presiding. A reception will be held following the Mass in the Parish Centre located adjacent to the church. Private interment of the cremated remains will follow at a later date in Letellier, MB. EVA FRIESEN 1929 - 2004 Peacefully at home on October 9,2004, Eva Friesen passed away at the age of 75 after a courageous and dignified battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband Jake of 53 years; as well as seven children, Viv (Ernie) Wiebe, Les (Dolores) Friesen, Carol (Tom) Wieler, Linda (John) Sawatzky, Marv (Edith) Friesen, Pat (Al) Fuller, Janet (Daryl) Sawatzky and 22 grandchildren. Eva was a hardworking partner with Jake on the family farm. She spent many hours volunteering at Grace Mennonite Church and the MCC thrift store in Brandon. She enjoyed the friendships and community living at Vic Wyatt house in Winnipeg over the last five years. Thank you to Eva's family MD Dr.Ashvin Shah, the Palliative Home care team, especially nurse Myrna and many health care aides for the loving care over the last six months. JEFFREY (JEFF) PAUL GIBSON It is with deep regret that we announce the tragic death of Jeffrey on Friday, October 8, 2004 at the age of 37 years. Remaining to cherish his memory are his parents, Barbara Krahn (Jake) and Dave Gibson; Nicole Gibson (nee Scott); their three sons, Jesse, Dustin and Matthew Gibson; daughter Savannah; brother Dean (Jacqueline) of New Westminster, BC; Grandma Eileen Gray of Brandon, MB; Grandpa Robert Gray of Duncan, BC; father-in-law Tom Scott (Lucille); brother-in-law Jamie Scott, sister-in-law Cassandra Scott; niece and nephew, Rachel and Cameron; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Jeff was predeceased by his grandparents, Hugh and Stella Gibson and his mother-in-law Carol Scott. Jeff was born
in Winnipeg, MB and when he was in his 5th grade, the family moved to Beausejour, MB. There he remained until his teens. He moved to Winnipeg where he met Nicole, they settled down and had a family. Jeff took being a father very seriously and enjoyed his time with his children. He attended South Winnipeg Tech, which began his career as an Industrial Electrician. After graduation, he worked with P4 Electric until 2002 and was currently employed with G. Mallin Electric. Being an electrician was something he loved and excelled in. He was a loving father and was loved by his children, family and friends. Jeff will be sadly missed by all those who knew him. He enjoyed life, cooking and spending time with family and friends. Jeff was so easy going and fun to be around that everyone who met him could not help but like him. His sparkling eyes could melt anyone's heart. Jeff's funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 16 at 1:00 p.m. in the Immanuel Pentecostal Church, 955 Wilkes Ave. Special thanks to Carla Skynner, District 14 Police Dept.; and Sargeant Jim Thiessen and his unit for their support and assistance. HAROLD GIESBRECHT Peacefully, my dear husband, our loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Harold R. Giesbrecht, slipped away to his Eternal Home to be with his Lord on Sunday, October 10, 2004 at the Pinawa Hospital. On June 2, 1946 he was joined in Holy Matrimony to Bertha Goossen. They shared their lives for 58 years, courageously meeting the joys and adversities of life together. He was 81 years on July 9, 2004. Dad spent most of his life farming in the Whitemouth area. He loved to keep his yard immaculate. His dream was to someday go to Russia to where his ancestors came from. Dad and Mom realized this dream in 1996. They were also able to visit the Holy Lands, Jamaica, Dominican Republic and take a tour of Eastern Canada. He will be greatly missed by his dear wife Bertha; daughters, Phyllis Barkman, Judith Janzen (Gordon), Valerie Penner (Franklin); sons, Merle (Roxie), Don (Myrna) and Darryl (Susan); 30 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents C.E. and Margaretha Giesbrecht; son-in-law Wes Barkman; two sisters, one brother, two sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law. MARY JANE IRENE (JEAN) GUNN Jean Gunn of Emerson, MB, 101 years of age, passed away at the Emerson Personal Care Home in Emerson, on October 9, 2004. Only daughter of the late George and Anne Gunn. Predeceased by her brother Hugh, in 1948. Descended from two pioneer families, the Gunns of Greenridge and McBeans of Ridgeville. Miss Gunn became a teacher in 1922. In the depression, she worked for a business firm in Winnipeg. Later, she served in the Department of Grade and Commerce in Ottawa. After the war, she returned to her profession and taught in rural Manitoba, suburban Winnipeg, and the north. Her last appointment was at Lyleton, MB, where she retired in 1970. She spent her retirement years between Winnipeg and Emerson. She entered the Emerson Personal Care Home in 1994, residing there until her death. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 15, at St. Andrews United Church, Emerson. A special thank you to the staff of the personal care home for their loving care of Jean over the years. Interment will take place in the Emerson Cemetery. VELMA ANNE ELIZABETH HILTON (nee BURNETT) At the Grace Hospital, on October 10, 2004, in her 93rd year, Velma slipped gently and peacefully into God's eternal rest and care. She was born
on March 13, 1912 to Anne and Gordon Burnett. Velma was predeceased by her husband Lloyd (1981); by her parents; and by her three siblings, sister Helen, brother Leslie and sister Isabel. She is survived by her two sons, Kenneth (Barbara) in Winnipeg, and Gerald (Shirley) in New Brunswick; by seven grandchildren; and by 11 great-grandchildren. Velma's abiding faith was her anchor in life, it gave her great joy, and it sustained and comforted her in difficult times. She was active throughout her long life in the works of the Baptist Church of Canada, which honoured her with a Life Membership in the Baptist Women's League of Western Canada.
