FLETCHER - Doris Doris Fletcher passed away peacefully at the Manor of Garrison Woods, Calgary, on July 11, 2004 at the age of 82 years. Doris is lovingly remembered and sadly missed by Joyce of Calgary, Graham (Barb) of Edmonton, and Robert (Marta) of Montreal. Also surviving are a sister Pat (Norman) in England. She is also sadly missed by four grandchildren, Christopher and Michael of Edmonton, and Alexandra and Matthew of Montreal; as well as several nieces and nephews in England. Doris was predeceased by her husband Larry in August 1980. A Celebration of Life will be held at Holy Nativity Anglican Church, 12707 Bonaventure Drive S.E., Calgary, on Friday, July 30, 2004 at 11:00 a.m., with Reverend Jagdutt Singh of Holy Nativity Anglican Church, Celebrant. FOSTER - Barbara Mary (nee Pommersheim) 1915 - 2004 Following a brief illness, Barbara Foster of Calgary passed away on Sunday, July 18, 2004 at the age of 89 years. Barbara was born on April 6, 1915 in Romania and immigrated to Canada with her family in 1923. She grew up in Castor, AB and then lived with her husband Art and son Ron in Vancouver, BC. During this time, she was active in the PTA and helped establish the first school lunchrooms in Vancouver. Barbara also volunteered at the local Children's Hospital and was an avid Curler. Following the death of her husband, Barbara worked for twenty-three years as a Doctor's Receptionist. She retired to Calgary in 1983 to be close to her immediate family. Barbara was an active member and supporter of Riverview U.C.W. Unit 4, McDougall United Church, and Fish Creek Seniors. Barbara was much-loved and is survived by her great-granddaughters, Erika and Lauren Wilcox of Oakville, ON; granddaughters, Sarah Foster of Nanaimo, BC and Susan Wilcox (Todd) of Oakville, ON and their mother, Isabel Foster of Calgary; daughter-in-law Sylvia Foster of Calgary; sister Lena Becker of Calgary; and many special nieces and nephews. Barbara was predeceased by her husband Art; her son Ron in 2000; and her sister Elizabeth Hepp. At Barbara's request, no Memorial Service will be held. GABAS - Joe Joe Gabas of Calgary, formerly of Tilley, passed away peacefully with his wife at his side, at the Peter Lougheed Centre on Tuesday, July 20, 2004 at the age of 71 years. Joe will be sadly missed by his loving wife Anna Madsen-Gabas; children, Debbie (Tony) Webster, Diane (Ed) Hofer, Matthew Gabas; and their mother, Marjorie Gabas; grandchildren, Trevor (Wendy) Richelhof, Jarod Richelhof, Priscilla (David) Unger, Ian Hofer and Andrea Hofer; three great-grandsons; brother John (Vera) Gabas; sisters, Grace (David) Johnston and Mary Hobart; numerous nephews and nieces and Anna's boys, Erik (Marjorie) Madsen, Knud (Arlene) Madsen, and Robert Madsen (Mary); as well as Anna's five grandchildren, Rachel, Timothy, Christian, Natasha, and Justin. GROENINGER - Inge Passed away on Saturday, July 17, 2004 in Abbotsford, BC at age 82. After emigrating from Germany in 1951 the family settled in Calgary, where she and Kurt opened their sales and service business of "Highwood Electronics" located in the Brentwood Village Plaza. "Hobby Electronics" in Marlborough opened in 1973, both locations using this company name. Inge was active in the Moravian Church and also active in her garden. She landscaped her homes, first on 40 Avenue N.W. and then on Benton Drive. Kurt and Inge retired to BC in 1978. Kurt predeceased her in 1988. Inge is survived by her two daughters, Birgit (Ed) Cummings, Karin (Egon) Lueck; four grandchildren, Kevin and Richard Hickman, Paul and Monica Egger. HADDOW - Margaret Jean 1926 - 2004 Margaret Jean (nee Lusk) of Calgary, formerly of Haileybury, Ontario, passed away with her family at her side on July 20, 2004 at the age of 78. HARRISON - Alexander Mackenzie Alexander Mackenzie passed away peacefully on July 18, 2004 at the age of 3 and a half months. GILBERG - Paul Kristen July 4, 1930 - August 10, 2004 At the age of 74 Paul lost his battle with lung cancer passing away on August 10, 2004. Born in Ottawa to Svend Jensen, Rigmor Olsen Gilberg, Paul, along with his older brother Peter, enjoyed a childhood filled with baseball, swimming and hockey. In 1952 he meet his future wife Donna Isabelle Montgomery and they married on May 19, 1952. Two daughters, Paula Kriston (Calgary) and Donna Lynn (Dan Guilmette of London, Ont.) were born. Paul worked as a radio operator in Issacson, N.W.T. and also Borden Island in the late 1950's. In Ontario Paul's HAM License was VE3 CZU and in Alberta it is VE6 CAL. In 1966 the family moved to Calgary. Paul worked for Alberta Government Telephones (AGT), now Telus, first in Yellow Page Advertising and later in Mobile Phone Systems and then Switchboards. Paul and Donna spent most of their time on motorcycle trips, square dancing, and enjoyed spending time with close friends. Paul will be missed by his wife Donna of Calgary; daughters, Paula Kriston of Calgary and Donna Lynn (Dan) Guilmette of London, Ont.; two grandchildren, Jason Guilmette of Calgary and Julie (Aaron) Lee of London, Ontario; as well as nieces and nephews across Canada and the United States. Paul will be missed by all of his motorcycling friends, pool buddies, coffee friends and many more special friends too numerous to mention. Paul was predeceased by both his parents. Paul's family would like to thank the staff at the Agape Manor Hospice for the kindness and care given to Paul. McMANN - Leonard Trueman Leonard Trueman McMann passed away on Sunday, August 8, 2004 at the age of 77 years. He was predeceased by his sister Marion Pettit of Welland, Ontario. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife (Alice) Ruth of twenty-six years; son Barry of Toronto, Ontario; stepdaughter Bonnie Snudden of Fort McMurray; and stepson Ron (Connie) Snudden of Kingston, Ontario; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren as well as a circle of other relatives and friends. Leonard was a laboratory technician for Exolon-Esk in Thorld, Ontario for forty-six years and retired after ten years of service with the Corp of Commissionaires in Calgary. MILHOUSEN - Mildred Ermina 1931 - 2004 Mildred Ermina Milhousen, beloved wife of forty-eight years of Bill Milhousen of Calgary, passed away at the Sarcee Hospice on Saturday, August 7, 2004 at the age of 73 years. Mildred was born on February 10, 1931 and raised in Walkerton, ON. She married Bill on January 13, 1956 and together they came to Calgary in 1968 where they have resided ever since. Mildred had a great love for her family and especially her grandson Taylor. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her. Besides her loving husband, Mildred is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and James Armstead; and grandson Taylor, all of Calgary. She is also survived by her sister Margaret O'Hagen; brother Louis Dentinger of Walkerton, ON; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Anna and Alphonse Dentinger; brother John; and brother-in-law Midford O'Hagen.
