MARY BIDOCHKA
MARY BIDOCHKA (nee SOWA) October 16, 1924 - June 17, 2004 With her family by her side, Mary passed on peacefully at Seven Oaks Hospital, leaving to cherish her memory her children: Carol Stoesz (Dave), Julia Bidochka, Frances Bryga (Jim), Harry Stephan (Lorraine Coutu), Caroleigh Shearing (Gordon Schiele), Carmen Howatt (Rheal Teffaine), Alex Bidochka (Sharon), Susan Miles (Bob), Pat Bidochka and Bonnie Bidochka; her sisters, Jennie Smikles, Frances Shek and Bernice Minarek; and brother Eddie Kazimirowich; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Caroline and Anton Sowa; her brothers, Michael Sowa and Frank Kazmerowich; granddaughter Dee-Dee Lynn Matlock; daughter Gail Lynne Bidochka and husband Harry Bidochka. Mary was a hardworking, caring, generous and giving individual who was always willing to help whenever and however she could. She passed on her legacy of sewing, knitting, crocheting, cooking, canning, gardening and a ready sense of humour, not only to her children but also to her extended family and friends and many people who worked with her. She was a valued employee at Eaton's Warehouse until she retired in 1991. After retirement, Mary enjoyed her family and grandchildren, gardening and travelling to see her children across the country. Many thanks to the nursing and support staff of Unit 4, fifth floor, Seven Oaks Hospital. and especially Dr. Mark Kristjanson for his superb care of our Mother. Many thanks also to her "girls", Carmelita and Agata. Funeral service will be held on Monday, June 21, 1:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St., with Rev. Msgr. Michael Moore officiating. Interment to follow at Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Cemetery. Mary's pallbearers are her grandsons: Ernie Bryga, Chris Bryga, Monty Bryga, Roger Stoesz, Trevor Stoesz, Ken Stoesz, Michael Miles and Troy Miles. TED PHILIP DEGEN Ted, aged 87, passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, June 16, 2004. He will be lovingly remembered by Isabelle, his wife of 59 years; children, Kent, Gene (Barbara), Joan (Graham) Mercer; grandchildren, Samantha Wilson, Erin (Peter) Keating, Owen Degen and Kitana Degen; great-granddaughter Summer; and his sister Emma. Ted was raised and farmed in the Darlingford area until 1957. He then moved to Winnipeg and was employed by Powell Equipment until his retirement. Ted was a member of the Southglen Fiddlers and the Seniors Melody Group. He brought a lot of pleasure to family and friends with his music, and his great sense of humour. Memorial service for Ted will be held on Saturday, June 19 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Interment and reception will follow. WINNIFRED MAE EARL "Wynne" passed away peacefully on June 13, 2004 at Haro Park Centre in Vancouver, BC. Wynne was born
December 2, 1922 in Yorkton SK, and moved with the family to Winnipeg in the 1920's, where she attended school and graduated from Daniel McIntyre Collegiate, and later Success Business College. After working in Winnipeg for a few years, she joined the Women's Royal Canadian Naval Service in January 1943 as a Wren Telegraphist in Ottawa. She returned to Winnipeg after her naval discharge in January 1946, and soon moved to Vancouver, where she met and married her husband, Don Hitchen in 1947. The couple was transferred to Oregon where they lived for several years. They divorced in 1955, and Wynne returned to Vancouver, where she made her home for the rest of her life, for many years living near Stanley Park and her cherished friends. After retiring in 1988, Wynne enjoyed travelling abroad and to the United States to rekindle friendships from her earlier Oregon residence. She was a voracious reader and enjoyed keeping abreast of local and international affairs. In 2002, Wynne moved from her apartment to Haro Park Centre where she quickly made new friends and won the hearts of the staff. Wynne was predeceased by her mother Georgina Dargie and father Allan Earl, and sisters, Marcia Stuart and Margery Piggott of Winnipeg. She is survived by sisters, Mary Jessiman of Calgary and Betty O'Malley of Winnipeg, and nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, in Calgary, Winnipeg and Vancouver. We will all miss this engaging and independent spirit who always had time to help a friend in need. The family would like to express their thanks to the wonderful staff and volunteers at Haro Park Centre for their great kindness and care. If friends desire, donations in Wynne's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Society. Wynne's wish was to return to her roots in Winnipeg. PAULINE HARRIS (nee ABIGOSIS) June 30, 1935 - June 15, 2004 Peacefully on June 15, 2004, at the Percy E. Moore Memorial Hospital, Pauline Harris aged 68 years, formerly of Pine Creek First Nation. Pauline resided at the Fisher River Personal Care Home until her demise. She was a former resident at the Friendly Villa in Eriksdale, MB. Pauline loved flowers and animals. She is survived by her son Lou Pennarun of Beausejour, MB, also many relatives at Pine Creek First Nation. She was predeceased by her parents, William and Angela Abigosis. KEITH JOHNSON Suddenly on Friday, June 11, 2004, Keith passed away at the age of 54 years. He was predeceased by his father in 1999; and is survived by his loving mother, Ruth and his pet dog, Chloe, whom he has had for 15 years. Keith was born
in Nova Scotia in 1950 and moved to Winnipeg that same year. He was employed with the Bank of Nova Scotia in the Investment and Foreign Exchange Department. Due to ill health, he was forced to retire early. Cremation has taken place and Burial will be in Goldboro, NS. ROLAND LAGACE Peacefully on Wednesday, June 16, 2004 surrounded by his family, Dad passed away at the St. Adolphe Nursing Home. He was predeceased by his wife Alberte in 2000; his son Leo in 1989; his parents, Zepherin and Marie Lagace; and brother Etienne Lagace. He is survived by his beloved children, Jeannette Lagace, Normand (Nicole) Lagace and Garry (Rachel) Lagace: grandchildren, Julie (Allen) Bouchard, Terry Rivard, Claire Lagace, Nathalie Lagace, Melanie Lagace, Melissa Lagace, Owen Lagace; and great-grandchild Matthew Bouchard. Dad was born
on October 19, 1919 in La Salle, MB. He married Alberte Rochon on October 13, 1942. They farmed in Lorette, MB until 1960. They returned to La Salle thereafter. Dad was at the St. Adolphe Nursing Home since September 2003. Dad worked for the Alfalfa Plant in Fort Whyte, started hauling water and went into the feed business until he retired in 1985. Dad was a loving and caring father. He always loved being around his family and enjoyed special occasions. He was a man of few words, he smiled happily just having us around him. Sincere thanks to the staff of the St. Adolphe Nursing Home for their care and compassion. at Poplarfield, MB. Early in her life, she moved to Winnipeg and later to Detroit, MI, working at J.L. Hudson. She moved to Arborg, MB at the age of 63 and returned to Winnipeg in her early 70s. MARGARET VALDINA MORGAN (nee THORSTEINSSON) December 10, 1926 - April 1, 2004 With great sadness the family wishes to announce the passing of Margaret Valdina Morgan. Margaret passed away April 1 at the Kaiser Hospital, CA. She is survived by her husband William (Bill); her daughters, Shelly Napier of Vallijo, CA, Kristie Prusiner of Napa CA; grandchildren, Brian Napier and Nicole Prusiner. Margaret was born
in Riverton, MB, Canada. After high school, Margaret worked in Winnipeg for many years. She then joined the Canadian Armed Forces for two years. After her discharge she left Canada and made her home in Long Beach, CA. Margaret married Allan Lemmar on June 28, 1958. They had two daughters, Shelly and Kristie. Later they moved to Vallejo, CA until Allan's death. Allan passed away October 31, 1972. Margaret owned and operated the apartment building. Margaret married Bill and continued to live in Vallejo until her death. Margaret was predeceased by her parents, Herman and Margaret; her brothers, Chris and Leonard; one sister Eleanor Peterson. Cremation has taken place. Margaret will be laid to rest in the Riverton Cemetery on June 19 at 3:30 p.m. Pastor Trudy Thorarinson officiating.
