SEEWALT - Susan Elise Susan Elise Seewalt sadly passed away on February 16, 2003. She was a loving mother, wife, grandmother and a true friend to many. SHEARER - (Patrick) Jeanie Rebecca It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of Jeanie at Brentwood Care Centre on Thursday, February 13, 2003. Jeanie was born on October 26, 1903 in Hamilton County, Scotland, eldest daughter of George and Annie Patrick. She is survived by a sister Jessie Patrick of Kingston, Ontario; brother Gordon Patrick of Montreal, Quebec; several nieces and nephews; former daughter-in-law and dear friend, Nicky Rogers. Her extended family includes Bob Rogers; grandchildren, Slade and Stacey; great-grandson Kyran; and beloved friends, Kathy Teahan and Ngaere. Jeanie was predeceased by her daughter Nancy, son Joseph (Sonny), husband Joseph, Sr., sister Peggie, brothers, George and Arthur, and loved companion Ed Anderson. Jeanie touched many hearts with her ready kindness. We thank the staff of the Brentwood Care Centre and Randy Lee for their care and attention of Jeanie. SULLIVAN - Nicholas (Alex) 1984 - 2003 Alex Sullivan, 18, passed away in a mountaineering accident on Tuesday, February 18, 2003. Alex was much loved by his parents Ginny and Terry. He was the best of each of them. He also touched the lives of his aunts, Nancy, Pamela and Valerie; and his uncles, Derek, Frank and Fred. Alex will be greatly missed by his grandparents, Will, John and Naomi. He was predeceased by grandparents, Kaycee, Anne and Garth. He now rests with them. Alex was dyslexic, but he did not suffer from it. Instead, he triumphed over it. He graduated with Honours from John G. Diefenbaker High School in June 2002. Earlier, he had distinguished himself during four years at the Calgary Academy. Alex was athletic. At times he was a competitive swimmer, a ski racer, and a rugby player. But always, in spirit and practice, he was a mountaineer. This was his passion. He began climbing at age nine and in the last eighteen months had climbed Mounts Athabasca, Robson, Windtower and Castle. Along the way, Alex's development was guided by wonderful mentors, including Coach Maureen, Larry Reid, Sean McLean, Alex Ferguson and Mark Stewart. Alex had wit, charm and elan. He was kind, thoughtful and compassionate. Though he sometimes struggled, he never quit. VERIGAN - Peter 1910 - 2003 Peter Verigan, a resident of the Beverly Care Centre, Lake Midnapore, passed away at the Rockyview General Hospital on Monday, February 17, 2003 at the age of 92 years. Uncle is lovingly survived by his two nieces, Lauree (Tom) Holloway of Leslieville and Faye (Bob) Cassista of Calgary, who will miss him dearly. He is also survived by four nephews, David (Laura), Michael (Ivy), William (Phylis) and John; as well as numerous great and great-grandnieces and nephews. Peter was predeceased by his two brothers, William and John Verigan and his parents William and Mavra Verigan. At Uncle's request a private family Service will be held with Interment next to his brother William at Queen's Park Cemetery. ELLIOTT - Allan Clark 1914 - 2003 On April 18, 2003, Allan Elliott, beloved husband of June Elliott, died peacefully in Calgary after a brief illness, at the age of 89. Allan is survived by his wife June of twenty years; his sons, from his first marriage, John and Tony Elliott; his brothers, Bill (Eileen) of Lacombe and John (Vail) of Edmonton and many nieces and nephews. Allan's parents were Dorothy and T.A. (Bert) Elliott of Edmonton. He was predeceased by his brothers, Carter, Craig and Bertram, an infant. Allan is fondly remembered by Laurie and Judy Flavin, and Kim and Maureen Haworth, and by the six children who called him "Gramps". Allan was born is Saskatoon and lived with his family in Camrose and Edmonton. He served with the RCAF during the Second World War and worked in Edmonton afterwards for many years as an insurance broker in the partnership Elliott-Knoll. Allan was active in Edmonton minor hockey and in the North Glenora community. He and his wife June divided their time between Gull Lake, Alberta, Calgary, Alberta and Palm Desert, California, where he enjoyed the company of many friends. Out of respect for Allan's wishes no Funeral will be held. GLEASON - Frank Leo Frank Leo, born May 28, 1919 passed into the presence of our Lord on April 18, 2003. Frank, a veteran of the Second World War was a longtime resident of Kelowna and a founding member of the Army and Navy in Rutland. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Una; daughter Tess and husband Brad Grier; son Ray and wife Joan; and sister Bernadette and husband Des Hill. He will also be missed by his three grandchildren, Bob, Nicole, Kim and numerous nieces and nephews.
