Hunter, Ann,
Dated: 12/09/2003
Regina, SK
HUNTER, ANNE MARIE (NEE OFF) 22/02/12 02/12/03 - Anne was an enthusiastic supporter of First Baptist Church and a resident of First Baptist Place on Smith Street in Regina with her husband, Melvyn. They both enjoyed a certain amount of youthful glee over the fact that their suite 201 was spatially located in almost exactly the same spot where they first began their married lives together in a second floor room in Melvyn's mother's house at 2137 Smith Street, some sixty years before. She was a long time contributing member of the Alabee (phonetic spelling) Circle at the church in the sixties and they rarely missed a Sunday church service at First Baptist Church. Anne was an extremely active participant in her grandchildren's and even her great grandchildren's lives playing with them in neighbourhood playgrounds, joining in the family home games of bridge, crokinole, and watching the Blue Jays. She took great pride in her athletic accomplishments which spanned seven decades, throughout her active lifetime. She was the ladies softball team pitcher at the Regina General Hospital in the1920's, shot a hole in one at the first hole of the Par Three Golf Course on Pasqua Street in the 1970's, and bowled a three game combination 729 score at the Regina Bowlodrome in League play in the 1990's. She was famous, within her family, for her long walks well into her eighties. She would think nothing of walking from First Baptist Place to the Grey Nun's hospital. Her love for small children was not restricted to her own family. She spent many years caring for the children of First Baptist Church in the Nursery while their parents attended services or functions in the church. Anne was a loving, devoted mother to her children and wife to her husband Melvyn, overcoming much hardship to provide them with a warm and loving home, as she did as a teenager with her own brothers and sister upon the early departure of their parents. She died peacefully on Dec. 2 at her residence in Ottawa after a short illness. She is predeceased by her husband Melvyn, brothers Frank, Larry, and Charlie. She is lovingly remembered by her brother, John (Thunder Bay, Ontario) and her sister Agnes (Timmins, Ontario), her daughter Lillian (Apollo Beach, Florida), and sons Stewart and Harry (Ottawa, Ontario), as well as her ten grandchildren, Guy, Mark, Scott, Riana, Lora, Randy, Steven, Kenneth, Kevin, Karen Dawn. Her five great grandchildren include Alyssa, Brandyn, Logan, Kirklan, and Jamison. Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church, Regina, where she and her husband Melvyn were life members, Monday, Dec. 15th, 11:00 am . The internment will follow the service.
