REMPEL - On Thursday, October 7, 2004 Bernhard Rempel, late of Parkside Extendicare passed away at the age of 95 years. Predeceased by his parents, Bernhard and Maria Rempel, wife Katharina, second wife Mary; 3 brothers: David, John and Peter, 2 sisters: Mary and Elizabeth, son-in-law Lucien Schmidt and step-son Arnold Unger. Bernhard is survived by his children: John (Selma), Mary Schmidt, Helena (Curtis) Braniff, Peter (Rose), Cathy (Bob) Quicke; grandchildren: Bevin Rempel, Barb (Ryan) Klassen, Janelle (Corey) Johnston, Mervin Braniff (friend Andrea), Lynda Braniff (friend Danny), Heidi Quicke, Sean Quicke; great-grandchildren: Ethan Klassen, Caden Klassen and Adria Johnston; 2 brothers: George (Mary), Frank (Helen); 4 sisters: Helen Funk, Katie (Jake) Dyck, Margaret (Bill) Hildebrandt, Ann (John) Bartsch; sisters-in-law: Minnie and Helen; 4 stepchildren and their families and numerous nieces and nephews. A Visitation for family and friends will take place on Tuesday, October 12, 2004 from 7:30 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Victoria Avenue Funeral Home, 2080 E. Victoria Avenue, Regina, SK. ENGLISH - Elmer Duane was carried into the presence of his Lord and Saviour with his family at his side in Regina on Sunday, November 14, 2004 at the age of 62. He was a farmer from the age of 16 and loved the life. He was predeceased by his father, Harold. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 41 years, Marilyn; daughter, Lorilee (David) Karn and grandchildren, Crystalee, Marshall and Lance; daughter, Brendalea and grandson, Kelly; mother, Mildred; and siblings, Shirley (Gary) Beuker, Guy (Fran), Harold (Marguerite), and Colleen (Orv) Grymaloski; as well as numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends. HARMEN - Violet May (nee Wright) born on April 22, 1925, passed away on November 14, 2004. The Lord prepared a place for her in heaven and she ascended to be with him. Violet leaves to cherish her memory her faithful husband of 62 years, Russell; their children, Edward and his children, Eddie, Jason, Lonnie and their mother, Erika Erl; Russell (Mary) and their child, Christopher (Jen), Russell's children from a previous marriage, Russell Jr. (Leila) and William; Lawrence (Donna) and their children, Lawrence Jr. and Teresa; Gloria-Jean (Ken) Reiss and their children, Michael (Raylene); 14 great grandchildren; brother, Robert (Joyce) of Surrey, England; sisters in law, Elma, Jen, Harriet Harmen and Shirley Morgan; brothers in law, Lee Wood and Tom (Lorraine) Joynt and numerous nieces and nephews. Violet was also a very special Gramma to Stephanie and Shane King. MCTAGGART - Stella Mae (Foord) McTaggart passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, November 14, 2004, at Royal University Hospital. She was born on November 29th, 1917 in Moose Jaw, SK. She was predeceased by her husband, John; brothers, Fred, Jack and Ted Foord; sisters, Ellen (Lassie) Ferguson and Alice Sproule. She is survived by her son, David; daughters, Dr. Patricia Grassick (George) of Lumsden, Joanne McTaggart (Ben Daku) and Lori McTaggart; brother, William (Bill) Foord of Moose Jaw; grandchildren, Fletcher, Rebecca, Angela, Tylor, Jennifer, Amanda, Jackie, Scott, Lindsay, Kelly; and six great grandchildren. NOESS - In the presence of his loving family, on Saturday, November 13, 2004, Stewart Noess, lifelong rancher and beloved husband of Sheila Noess of Spring Valley, Sask. passed away peacefully at the Moose Jaw Union Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 72 years. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, November 18, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. in the Piche Hawkins Funeral Chapel, Hwy #2 North, Assiniboia, Sask. with Pastor Bill Luther presiding. PIHACH - Mr. Rick Pihach, of Regina, passed away on Monday, November 15, 2004 following a courageous battle with cancer. He was 56 years of age. Rick was born in the Fenwood district, worked at Lynn Lake, MB and at Yorkton before moving to Regina in 1974. He was a 23 year employee of the City of Regina but was forced to retire due to an accident in 1997. Rick will be missed by his many friends in Regina: his sister, Jeanette Pihach of Ituna, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives. Prayers will be said on Thursday evening at 7:00pm and the funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Friday at 10:00am, all from Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church in Ituna. ASH - Joseph Heis (Joe), born in Qu'Appelle, Sask on September 11, 1932, the eighth of 11 children born to Jack and Mary Ash, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 2, 2004 at the age of 72, with his family at his side. Joe's passing came after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by Norma, his loving wife of 49 1/2 years; son, Tom (Tina) and children Trevor and Danielle (Danny) of Regina; son, Dave (friend Marilyn) and children, Tyler, Courtney and Brittany of Saskatoon; daughter, Leanne (Gerry) Levis and children Ashley and Brett of Saskatoon; as well as his brothers Jim (Mavis) of Regina; Wilf (Kaye) of Brandon; Ralph of Regina; Walter (Anne) of Regina; Al (Jocelyn) of Regina; Bill (Lois) of Lethbridge; sistersin-law Marg Ash of Regina and Betty Ash of Surrey, BC; sisters and brothers-in-law Mae and Harold Wesley of Edgeley; Malcolm and Carolyn Howden of Saskatoon; Bob and June Howden of Edgeley, and many special nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Jack (1949), his mother Mary (1964), brothers Norm (1979), Sam (2000), sisters Ola Ash (1997) and Arlette Dunn (Oct. 2004), sister-in-law Eileen Ash (1978), brother-in-law Ken Dunn (1999) and special family friend Lil Duckworth (2000). Joe began his career in carpentry with Bird Construction at 16 years of age. After 14 years with Birds, he joined the Saskatchewan Department of Welfare as head carpenter for all of their facilities throughout the province. In 1969, he joined the RCMP Depot Division as Project Supervisor of Construction. He retired from that position in July 1993 after 24 years. During the 1970's and 80's he was also a partner in Calash Concrete Ltd. He was a very generous man who never hesitated to volunteer his creative talents as a carpenter on many projects for his family and friends. Joe was keenly interested in the activities of his children and grandchildren. He helped coach or manage Little League baseball and minor hockey with the Firefighters peewee team and Spurs bantam team. Other activities included membership in the Optimist Club of Regina, church boards at St. Andrews and St. James United churches, and committees in the Regina Lions Band. In his retirement he especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren in their numerous activities such as baseball, softball, hockey, basketball, soccer, volleyball, water polo, team handball, lacrosse and badminton. As well, he enjoyed many summers relaxing and tinkering around the cottage at Sorensen's Beach on Long Lake. Special thanks to Dr. Miller and Dr. Clein and the nurses in the Palliative Care Unit at the Pasqua Hospital, especially Carol, Penny and Lorraine, and to home care nurse Linda B. for their excellent care and support. Also, heartfelt thanks to all our family and friends for their love, compassion and support over the past two years and especially the last few weeks. A Service of Remembrance will be held at Zion United Church, 120 Broad Street North, Regina on Monday, December 6, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. David Hoffman officiating. A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 5 from 2:00 4:00 p.m. in Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue. A private family interment will take place at a later date. BERLAD - Viktor K. It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Viktor Berlad, late of Regina, on Wednesday, December 1, 2004. Viktor was born in the town of Inyatin in the Ukraine, where his beloved mother resides. Following his military career in Russia he attended the University of Chernortse where he obtained his Baccalaureate of Physics. He participated in many sports throughout his years in the Ukraine, most notably field hockey which he played in University. Victor came to Canada in 1992 and obtained his Canadian Citizenship shortly after. Viktor was predeceased by his beloved father in his youth. He is survived by his mother Maria, sister Tamara, nephew Yaska, sister Olga, brother-in-law Oleg and their children Igor and Nina, all of the Ukraine. Loving companion Carrie and her son Bryce. Throughout his business travels in Canada and abroad Viktor made many friends and extended family. He touched many lives and will be deeply mourned by all. His remains will be taken home to his birthplace where he will be reunited with his father. Those wishing to celebrate his life may join us at Regina Funeral Home, 1-2pm, with a luncheon following at a different location. Rest in peace, Viktor. We love you and we'll miss you.
