Anthony "Tony" Eichinger
April 19, 1940 - March 16, 2012
EICHINGER – Mr. Anthony “Tony” Joseph Eichinger, 71 years of Cudworth Nursing Home, passed away on Friday, March 16, 2012 at his residence. Tony was born on April 19, 1940 on the family farm in the Cudworth district. He was the third child born in a family of 12. As many large families in that era, all the children helped out on the farm. Tony loved that role as a farmer, and continued to farm until his health failed. He ran a mixed farm, but his love was horses. He would do anything for his horses, and they responded to him. In today’s world he could be called a “horse whisper”. He gave them special attention, and would haul feed and water for miles, to make sure they had the best care and food. His barn and yard were open to his horses to feel free, to roam freely around. His horses were a lot like himself, animals with a free spirit! Tony was a man with a free spirit. Before he had health problems, he loved to travel the country side, especially the back roads. There he found peace and serenity. When Tony first started farming he could see that farmers were having a hard time dealing with problems, and he got involved. He travelled to meetings and canvassed to sign up new members, to the Farmers Union. He also helped out with “demonstrations” and “sit ins”, to get the attention of Parliament. He took his farm politics seriously. He was always willing, and if able, to help anyone in need. He always made time to help. Tony’s family was very special to him and he loved spending time with all his siblings, and their families. Tony’s quiet, caring, and generous personality, will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his eight sisters: Theresa Hessdorfer of St. Benedict, Mary Weiman of Saskatoon, Elizabeth (Chris) Molnar of Melfort, Lucy Hagan of Kelowna, BC, Rosanne (Eugene) Schemenauer of Lake Lenore, Josephine Eichinger of Lake Lenore, Lena (Dave) Pawlyshyn of Castlegar, BC and Katherine Harriman of Saskatoon; and three brothers: Lawrence Eichinger of Humboldt, Henry (Beverly) Eichinger of Cochrane, AB and Chris (Ramona) Eichinger of Dalmeny; and by numerous nieces and nephews. Tony was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Theresa Eichinger; brother-in-law Everard Hessdorfer; sister-in-law Agnes Eichinger; special cousin Joseph Chatlain, and many aunts and uncles. Jack Failler
November 1, 1921 - August 24, 2013
Jack Failler 91 years of Parkland Lodge Lanigan passed away peacefully on Saturday August 24, 2013 at Lanigan Hospital. Jack was born on November 1, 1921 to Jacob and Magdalina (nee Goodfriend) Failler at Allen SK. He took some education at the Young School and when the family moved to the Guernsey area he continued his education at the Duffville School. Jack enjoyed the sport of curling when younger. Farming was not easy during that era and everyone had to work very hard with not a great return. But Jack was an adventurous person who loved hard work, so he continued the tradition of farming after his father passed away in 1947. Jack met Mary Bilous at a dance at Mile End School and they were married on October 19, 1949 at the Sacred Heart Greek Catholic Church in the Wolverine District. They were blessed with three sons. Jack and Mary continued their farming career for 62 years. Working with cattle brought much joy and fulfillment to Jack - that was his favorite part of the farm. Jack loved the challenge of finding a good deal and went to many auctions and enjoyed spending time bidding and visiting with people. Harvest and haying were his special times on the farm where he could spend time working with the boys. Somehow Jack enjoyed that way more than the boys did. He loved to socialize with his friends at the local coffee shop and catch up on the events around the area. There he could purchase his scratch tickets in hope of winning the “big one”. Sometimes time permitted him to enjoy a good game of pool at the local pool hall. He was not afraid to show that his favourite colour was blue – his farm was known for its blue buildings. Family was very important to him and he really enjoyed when the grandchildren started to arrive and spend time on the farm. Each of them had a nick name and so in return he was affectionately known as Jed to his family. Jack struggled with health issues in the latter part of his life and unfortunately in 2011 he had to move to the Central Parkland Lodge where the adjustment was not easy. He enjoyed visits from his family and the almost daily visits from Mary. Jack will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of almost 64 years MARY Failler of Lanigan; three sons, eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren: Doug (Adele) Failler of Humboldt and family, Shane (Christy) Failler of Martinsville and sons Josh and Jesse, Jeff (Lorna) Failler of Lanigan and daughters Brittany, Brandie and Breanna and Curtis (Kim) Failler of Lanigan and sons Chase, Gavin and Reed; Greg (Connie) Failler of Lanigan and family Dustyn (Jayline) Failler of Lanigan and son Sawyer, Sharrod Failler of Lanigan and Deon Failler (Shea) of Saskatoon; and Kerby Failler of Vernon BC and family Sarah Failler (Colin) of Kelowna, BC and Brody Failler of Vernon, BC; one sister Lena Gasser of Minnesota, USA; sisters and brothers-in-law: Evelyn Borysko of Saskatoon, Bill (Bernice) Bilous of Nipiwan, Gloria (Ron) Barton of Vankleek Hill, ON, Phillip (Clarice) Bilous of Lloyminster, SK, Orest (Sharon) Bilous of Kamloops, BC and Judy (Wally) Wenzel of Lloydminster, AB. Jack was predeceased by his daughter Judith Ann Failler; parents Jacob and Magdalina Failler; brothers-and-sisters: Mike Failler, Katie Failler, Mary (Bob) Bland and Jenny (Bob) McGowan; sister-in-law Irene and brother-in-law Pete. A Prayer Service was held on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass was held on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. both services were held from St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Lanigan with Father Paul Paproski presiding. Interment followed at St. Scholastica R.C. Cemetery. Memorial donations in Jack’s memory may be directed to Canadian Diabetes. Association.
