Dave and Georgette were married in 1964 on April 25th in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He entered the Royal Canadian Navy that same year and was posted to Victoria, with his new bride, to start a new family. 1964 saw them posted to Inuvik, NWT, where they adopted their son Joseph, and they were very proud parents. In 1968 with Joey in tow, they moved back to Victoria and Dave pursued his career in the Navy. They stayed the course until 1970 when they moved back home to Winnipeg. Two short years later, 1972 saw the birth of their second child, Dean. Staying fast to his career path we were all posted to Borden in 1976 where we lived for three years. Then posted again to Victoria in 1979. The family would move one last time to Shilo in 1981. Dave guided and provided for his family with love and laughter, and his death has affected all whose lives he touched. Dave worked with, and made friends with, a great deal of people over his life. A decent, caring man who served his country and who's passing was far too soon and sudden.
God's speed Sailor.
We miss you.

WALTON: W. Stuart peacefully passed away at Fairview Home in Brandon, MB on December 12, 2008 with his family at his side after completing his journey through a very long and full life. Stuart was born on the family farm at Oak Lake, MB on January 9, 1911. He was the last surviving member of the Herb and Martha Walton family. Stuart was pre-deceased by his parents, his sisters, Verna Moreland, Gladys Stevenson, Evelyn Gompf, and his brothers, Mervin, Allan and Eldon. Stuart married Dorothy Freeman of Winnipeg in 1953 and together they farmed the Walton homestead. Their only daughter, Peggy Lynn, was born in 1957. Stuart served his community as a board member for the St. David’s Church, Johnston Cemetery
and Hagyard School. In the early years, he was often found with his fiddle in hand. He was a man of many hobbies and had a knack of being able to fix almost anything. The hobby that brought him the most pleasure was his Golden Retrievers and Prairie Dawn Kennel. In the early 1960’s he imported from England the first light coloured Golden’s to Western Canada. Stuart and Dorothy successfully showed their dogs all through the Western provinces. His retirement project was to build a bungalow in Oak Lake which was their residence until the fall of 2000 when they moved to Brandon. The balcony off their suite then became his workshop where he spent many hours making his wooden projects. Stuart always felt very grateful that he was able to see his beloved granddaughters grow up and begin their adult lives. Failing health forced his move to Fairview Home in Sept 2006. Stuart leaves to lovingly cherish his memory his wife Dorothy, daughter Peggy (Brian Jamieson), granddaughters Ashley (Jason McKerchar) and Jody (Jon Naturkach), their father Gordon Percival and many nieces and nephews. Stuart has left his family a legacy with his remarkable memory of endless stories of days gone by, many collections, and woodworking pieces. A memorial service was held at Oak Lake United Church on December 16, 2008 with Rev. Craig Miller officiating. The eulogy was given by Stuart’s granddaughter, Jody. Interment followed at Johnston Cemetery. The family would like to thank the 4th floor and support staff at Fairview for their excellent care and friendship. For those so desiring, donations may be made to the Oak Lake and Area Foundation, Box 133, Oak Lake, MB R0M 1P0.
