DESROCHERS: Juliette Marie Desrochers (née Labossiere), of Brandon, MB, formerly of the Baldur/Mariapolis areas, passed away peacefully at the Fairview Personal Care Home, Brandon, MB on Monday, March 30, 2009 at the age of 83 years. Juliette was born on May 28th, 1925 near St. Leon, MB. Juliette leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her loving memory, her beloved husband Celeste Desrochers; her children Donald, Maurice (Lisele), David (Colleen), Debbie (Denny) Kynoch; Memere to Michelle (Ray) Grimard, Corey (Janet) Desrochers, Lianne Desrochers (Rich), Daryl Desrochers (Charlene), Chantelle (Ryan) Drummond, Jeremy Desrochers, Derrick Kynoch, Matthew Kynoch, Kayla Kynoch; great grandchildren
, Skylar and Keyan Grimard, Bailey Maxwell, Alexa Desrochers, Austin Desrochers; one brother-in-law Urben Desrochers, and three sisters-in-law Nell Desrochers, Rose Desrochers and Marguerite Desrochers, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Juliette was predeceased by her parents Joseph-Adelard and Alma Labossiere (Labossiere), three brothers and nine sisters. Juliette was the eleventh of thirteen children. She grew up and worked on the family farm which was located 3 miles east of St. Leon. Juliette loved music and learned to play piano by ear including playing duets with a sister. On June 6th, 1946 at St. Leon, MB, Juliette married the love of her life, Celeste, then moved to the Greenway area. They celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary in 2008. During their years of farming, together they milked cows shipping cream to the local creamery as well as cropped many acres of land. Juliette always enjoyed planting a big vegetable garden while on the farm: canning many vegetables for the family and guests to enjoy. Juliette was diagnosed with Diabetes., which inevitably seriously affected her life style and quality of life. Juliette and Celeste retired and moved to Brandon in July of 1989. Playing cards with friends, family and also playing "Thirty One" with her grandchildren were great pastimes for her. In later years, she also enjoyed numerous trips to Belcourt with Celeste and their friends and many times was known to return to Brandon with more than she went with. Juliette had a kindness for people, a giving and generous heart with family and friends, taking great joy in the arrival of her grandchildren and the great grandchildren. Everyone who knew her will have a different and unique memory of her and their relationship to her. Viewing and rosary were held at 10:00 a.m. at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church, 327-4th Street, Brandon, Manitoba on Friday, April 3, 2009 followed with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Augustine’s Roman Catholic Church, with Father Dominic Yuen as Celebrant. Pallbearers were Corey Desrochers, Daryl Desrochers, Derrick Kynoch, Matthew Kynoch, Jeremy Desrochers and Ryan Drummond. Memorial Reflections were given by Ken Tranborg and Readings by Michelle Grimard and Kayla Kynoch. Interment took place at Our Lady of Assumption Parish Cemetery, Mariapolis, Manitoba at 3:30 p.m. with Father John Te Nguyen officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Juliette, may be made to the Canadian Diabetes. Association, 727B -10th Street, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 4G7.
DUNFIELD: Anne Kathleen (December 15, 1916 - April 6, 2009). Mom passed away peacefully at Fairview Home, in Brandon, on April 6, 2009. She was ninety-two. She is survived by her son, Grant (Marion), daughter Mary-Ann (Don Lepper), grandchildren Allison (Scott Emmerson), Paula, Stephen (Maureen), Sean (Tobi), and great grandchildren Jillian, Luke, Kaitlin, and Auriel. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Masciuch and niece, Elizabeth (Dan Sprague). She was predeceased by her devoted husband, Edgar, to whom she was married for fifty-two years. Ed passed away in 1995. She was also predeceased by her parents Samuel and Kathleen Waychok, and brother, Walter. Mom graduated from Brandon College in 1937 with a degree in Arts. She taught English and French at B.C.I., Vincent Massey, and Neelin High School for 34 years, retiring in 1977. She will be remembered as a devoted teacher to several generations of students giving of her time to many extra-curricular school activities including dance and dramatic productions. She started into teaching at a time when there were few women working out of the home and fewer still in teaching. Mom’s graduating class from Brandon College maintained a lifelong connection, their last reunion being their 60th in Brandon. Born into a Ukrainian family, Mom was always proud of her heritage and culture and cherished her many friends at the dinners and festivities at the Ukrainian Hall. Mom remained a passionate learner all her life always enrolling in new courses to challenge her active mind – Spanish, German, calligraphy, ballet. After retirement, Mom spent many hours teaching English to new Canadians who immigrated to Brandon, many of whom became good friends. Mom was a devoted mother and grandmother and her grandchildren have very fond memories of holidays spent at the cabin at Clear Lake and Almond Crescent where home-made buns and lemon pies would be waiting on our arrival. She will be remembered as the consummate hostess, cook, homemaker, and contributor to the community through volunteering on many committees and organizations. She was a tireless visitor to shut-in friends. She was a long time member of Knox United Church, making many close friends, serving on numerous committees and singing in the choir. She was a keen basketball player in her youth, an ardent curler, knitter and gardener. Travel was one of her interests well into her eighties. The annual trip to Maui with Ed's family was a highlight of the year and new friends were made there over the years. Mom, you were a wonderful model and inspiration to all your family and friends. We cherish the memories of our times with you and we will miss you. A memorial service will be held at Knox United Church, on Saturday, April 11, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. David Cathcart officiating. A private family interment will take place prior to the memorial service at Brandon Cemetery. DERKATCH: Ronald James Derkatch of Brandon passed away suddenly at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Wednesday, December 24, 2008 at the age of 55 years. Cremation will take place and a Service of Remembrance will be held at the Brockie Donovan Chapel, 332-8th Street, on Friday, January 2, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jim Brown of St. George’s Anglican Church officiating. Interment will take place at the Silver Creek Cemetery

DEIS: The death of David Deis occurred on Monday, November 24, 2008 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. Dave was born July 20, 1942 in Prelate, Saskatchewan. He moved to Nesbitt with his parents in 1946, took up farming at the age of 16 and remained farming until his passing. He was predeceased by his son Jeffrey in 1971, parents Eva (Derzaph), 1995 and Joseph, 2003. He is survived by his wife Kathy, daughter Carrie (Ashley) Sokolan, his two precious granddaughters Ryland & Kaelyn, son Sean, brothers Ed (Gail) of Saskatoon and Jim (Bev) of Regina, nieces & nephews Sherry & Jason, Tyler & Sabrina, aunt Mae Deis, mother-in-law Emma Remizoff and many aunts and uncles in Medicine Hat, Alberta. Prayers will be held at the Brockie Donovan Chapel, 332-8th Street, Brandon, on Friday, November 28, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the St. Augustine’s School Gymnasium, 330-3rd Street, Brandon, on Saturday, November 29, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Dominic Yuen as Celebrant. Interment will take place at the Minnewawa Cemetery, followed by a funeral reception at the Nesbitt Community Hall. Donations in memory of David may be made to a charity of choice.
DERLAGO: Surrounded by her family, Kimberley Gail Derlago passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Sunday, October 19th, 2008 following a lengthy illness. Kim was born in Brandon on May 20, 1959. She left Brandon in 1978 and lived in numerous cities around the world including Vancouver, Boston, Toronto, Winnipeg, Quebec City and Dalpe, Switzerland. It was during this time that her two daughters, Amanda and Brittanee, were born. Kim returned to Brandon in the early 90’s to raise her two young daughters. She worked several jobs through the years including employment with Century 21 Realty, Obermaiers Meats, Multi-Plex Management and, most recently, the Super 8 Motel. Kim always wore her heart on her sleeve and sought to see the best in others. She believed that life was best lived simply and artfully with a sense of flare and grace. She was perpetually concerned not to burden others and whenever able, tried to carry their burden for them. Kim strived to be a compassionate daughter, respected sister, giving and protective mother, tolerant partner, caring aunt, joyful grandmother and a loving person to all near and dear. She left this world a better place for having lived a part of it. Missing their Mom are her two daughters Amanda Hattie, husband Andrew and grandchildren Joshua, Tyler and Tessa of Petawawa and daughter Brittanee Derlago of Brandon. She is also survived by her loving and supportive partner Brian Klein, her parents, Metro and Vi Salyn and her four sisters, Cindy (Jack) Stouffer, Charlene (Steve) Manning, Cathie and Donna (Stu) Brown. As well as nieces Meaghan and Jenna Stouffer and nephews Curtis (Bailey & Jaxen) and Scott Manning. At Kim’s request, a private memorial has taken place officiated by Mona Franklin. Interment was held at Rosewood Memorial Gardens.The family wishes to thank the Doctors, Nurses and Staff on 400 at BRHC for the wonderful care they provided to Kim during her illness.Donations in memory of Kim may be made to the Westman Dreams for Kids Foundation, 202-37-11th Street, Brandon, MB, R7A 4J2.
DALLING: It is with sadness that we announce the death of our loving and much loved husband, father and grand-father, Dr. John Dalling, at Hillcrest Place on Saturday, October 18th, 2008 in his 79th year. John is survived by his wife Helen, his children Linda, Ian (Lisa) and Gordon (Marlis), and by his grand-children John, Neil, Reed, Evan, Ness, Maia and Ewan. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Edith Dalling, and by his brothers George and William.
John was born in Moffat, Dumfriesshire, Scotland, on May 10th, 1930. After serving in Hong Kong in the Royal Army Medical Corps, he attended and graduated from medical school at Glasgow University in 1956 (M.B.,Ch.B.), and was later elected a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow (F.R.C.S. Glasg.). John married Helen on November 21st, 1959 in Oban, Scotland. Their first two children, Linda and Ian, were born in Scotland before the family immigrated to Canada in 1966; son Gordon was born in Brandon in 1968. John worked with Drs. Fjeldsted and Guy before joining the Western Medical Clinic in 1968 and worked there, and at the Brandon General Hospital, until his retirement.
A memorial service for family and friends will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 339 – 12th Street, Brandon, on Saturday, October 25th, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. with Arlene Robertson officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of John may be made to the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation, 150 McTavish Avenue East, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 2B3 or to a charity of your choice.
de DELLEY: Mrs. Edith "Dianne" Lynne de Delley, beloved wife of the late Dennis de Delley, passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Thursday, October 9, 2008 at the age of 63 years. A time of visitation for family and friends will be held at Brockie Donovan Funeral Home, 332-8th Street, on Tuesday, October 14, 2008 from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. A Celebration of Dianne’s Life will be held at St. Matthew’s Anglican Cathedral, 403-13th Street, on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. with The Very Rev. Robin Walker officiating. Placement of the urn will follow at the Brandon Cemetery
