Passed peacefully away at his family residence on February 13, 2007, Gerald Dennis (Sammy) Lane at the age of 58 years. Predeceased by his first wife Marilyn; parents: Sammy and Cora Lane. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Maxine; his son Blair and his daughter Jody (Chad) both of Grand Falls - Windsor; stepdaughter Lisa (David) of St. John's; stepson Jason (Shelly) of Grand Falls - Windsor; grandchildren: Kyle, Elize, Gregory, Alex, Jordan and Jacob; brothers: Wayne (Betty) of Grand Falls - Windsor, Dale (Denise) of Alberta and Keith (Nedra) of Bishop's Falls; sisters: Denise (Denny) Feaver of PEI and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation took place from Sunset Memorial Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 14, 2007 from 7-9 p.m. and on Thursday, February 15, 2007 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service was held on Friday, February 16, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. from Holy Trinity Anglican Church with Rev. Randy Lockyer and Rev. Roy Martin officiating. Interment was at the Anglican Cemetery, Union Street. No flowers by request, donations in his memory were made to the Janeway Children's Health Center. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Pallbearers were: Wayne Lane, Keith Lane, Randy Carey, Oral Whiteaway, Mel Perry and Albert Jacobs.

Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre on Friday, May 30, 2008, aged 85 years. Predeceased by his beloved wife Ruby (nee Bowring), brothers Melvin and Daniel and sister Greta. Leaving to mourn with loving memories son, Darrell and daughter-in-law Carol, two wonderful granddaughters, Hannah and Nora, who were Poppy’s pride and joy, brothers Freeman (Joyce), Wallace (Margaret), sister Marion Feltham, as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and very special loyal friend Alma Newbury. Visitation will take place from Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Grand Falls - Windsor on Sunday, June 1, 2008 from 7 - 9 p.m., and Monday, June 2, 2008 from 2 – 4 & 7 - 9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. from The Salvation Army Park Street Citadel with Major Sandra Stokes officiating. Interment to follow at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Caribou Road. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. The family would like to express their gratitude for the exemplary care provided by the medical and nursing staff of 5 South A, CCU, OR, and especially the CVICU of the Health Sciences Centre. Passed peacefully away on April 30, 2007 at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Care Center, after a lengthy illness, Sharon Power. She was 64 years of age. Sharon and her family spent 18 years in Thompson, Manitoba were she worked at a shelter for abused women and their children. While there she also worked at a treatment center and halfway house for alcoholism and drug addiction for approximately 3 years and also as a part time sheriff. Before coming home to Newfoundland in 2000 to retire she worked for 10 years at the RCMP detachment as a Matron. Predeceased by parents: Austin and Anne Hanlon; brothers: Leo, Forbes, Francis, Gregory, Patrick and a sister Janet. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are husband Cyril; sons: John (Kathy) of Thompson, Manitoba, Gregory (Rachel) of Grand Falls - Windsor and William (Lindy) of Calgary, Alberta; grandsons: Drake, Lee and Caden; granddaughter Alexis; sister Elaine Dube and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Visitation took place from Sunset Memorial Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 1, 2007 from 7-9 p.m. and on Wednesday, May 2, 2007 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service was held on Thursday, May 3, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. from the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception Church with Father David Joy officiating. Interment at the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Union Street. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Pallbearers were: Ed Beson, John Patrick Hanlon, Eddie Dalton, Jim Dalton, Lefty Kyritsis and Ben Gardner.

Predeceased by his parents: Harry and Millicent Payne; brother Bert and sister Doris. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories Bridgett mother of his six children; daughters: Judy (Ray) Beson of British Columbia, Diane (James) Bragg of Alberta, Marilyn (Roy) Inder of Grand Falls - Windsor, Barbara Payne of Alberta; sons: Cyril (Belinda) of Grand Falls - Windsor and Darren (Tammy) of Calgary; 12 grandchildren: Ray, Lisa, Grant, Matthew, Samantha, Jamie, Lisa, Amanda, Shane, Brandon, Steven and Stephanie; a number of great grandchildren; sister Betty (Watson) Simms of Alberta and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation took place from Sunset Memorial Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 29, 2007 from 7-9 p.m. and on Wednesday, May 30, 2007 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service took place on Thursday, May 31, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. from Evangel Pentecostal Church, Grenfell Heights with Pastor Marvin Burton officiating. Interment to the Pentecostal Cemetery, Union Street. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Pallbearers were: Darren Payne, Cyril Payne, Raymond Beson, Roy Inder, Matthew Payne and Grant Payne.

Passed peacefully away on Tuesday, October 30, 2007 at the Health Science Complex, St. John's, Terry Byrne, at the age of 72 years. Predeceased by parents: James and Veronica Byrne, son Terry and sister Carol. Left to mourn is his life partner, Margaret Hynes, daughter Colleen (Jim Nix) of New Glasgow, NS. Also leaving to mourn is brother Jim (Donna), granddaughter Krista and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Visitation will take place from Sunset Memorial Funeral Home on Friday Nov. 02, 2007 at 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Father David Joy will conduct the funeral service from Sunset Memorial Funeral Home on Saturday Nov. 03, 2007 at 10:00 am with interment at The Roman Catholic Cemetery, Main Street, Grand Falls-Windsor. Predeceased by her husband Henry Byrne, sister Madonna Oates and brother Patrick St. George. Left to Mourn with fond loving memories are daughter Julie Byrne (Thomas Locke) of Grand Falls-Windsor, grandson Alex Henry Locke of Grand Falls Windsor, sister Margaret Dressaire (Michael) of New Brunswick, brother James St. George (Betty) of Buchans and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will take place from the Roman Catholic Church in Buchans from there the funeral service will take place Friday, April 11, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Eugene Morris officiating. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Muriel Burry announce the passing of their loving mother at the Colchester Hospital in Truro, NS on June 4th, 2008 at the age of 88 years. Born in Cottrell’s Cove, NL, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Fannie Boone. She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Randolph Burry. Left to mourn with fond loving memories are her son, Donald Burry, (Ann Kee) of Moncton, NB, daughter, Neitah Burry-McCrindle of Halifax, NS, grandsons: Tyler Burry (Maria Berrena) of Windsor, ON, Jonathan McCrindle (Marriam Aboli El-Haj) of Halifax, NS, granddaughter, Deliah Burry of Vancouver, BC and a number of nieces and nephews. Visitation will take place Friday, June 13th, 2008 from 7 - 9 p.m. at the Grace United Church, Cottrell’s Cove.
