The death of Edmay Wheeler, age 90, wife of Laurier Wheeler of Sackville occurred at the Sackville Memorial Hospital on Saturday, Dec. 22, 2001
Born in Sackville she was a daughter of the Late William and Joseline (LeBlanc) Richard.
Edmay will be sadly missed by her husband, Laurier Wheeler, Sackville 3 daughters, Frances (Ken) Eagles, Sackville, Diana (Ron) Purcell, Portuguese Cove, NS and Marlene (David) Hicks, Moncton, 3 sons, Raymond (Pauline), Southampton, ON, William (Brenda) Palmer Rapids, ON and Peter (Marianne), Ft. Myers, Fl. a brother William (Celia) Richard, Sackville, a sister, Leah Richard, Shemogue, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was predeceased by 3 sisters and 2 brothers.
The remains are resting at the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville (364-1300) with visitation Sunday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM. The funeral service will be held Monday, December 24, 2001 at 11 AM at the St. Vincent's Roman Catholic Church, Father Philip Mulligan officiating. Burial in the Sackville Cemetery.
M. E. Pearl Dean
May 22, 1933 - January 4, 2001
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Pearl Dean, age 67, of Cape Tormentine , announce her passing at the Dr. Georges L. DuMont Hospital on Wednesday, January 3, 2001.
Born in Pictou, NS on May 22, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Harold and Mabel (Clarke) Butler, and a foster daughter of the late Harris & Hattie (Clarke) Dean.
Pearl was formerly employed with Northern Telecom in Amherst for more than 25 years. She was an active member in the Amherst Royal Canadian Legion and the Pioneer Club.
Pearl will be sadly missed by 2 sons, Barry (Sherry) Dean and Gordon (Kimberly) Dean both of Cape Tormentine; 1 half brother, Cye Steele of Brookfield, NS; 1 foster Sister, Muriel (Carl) Trenholm of Cape Spear and 5 grandchildren Alyssa, Taylor, Dwight, Kristan and Brendan.
Pearl was predeceased by her husband Edward in 1997 and by 2 brothers Charles and Tommy Butler.
Arrangements have been entrusted with the Jones Funeral Home, Port Elgin, NB, 364-1300. The remains have been forwarded for cremation. A memorial service will be held Monday, January 8, 2001 at 2:00pm at the Cape Tormentine United Church, the Rev. Stephen McAllister officiating. Burial to take place in the Bayfield Cemetery.

Laurie Ray Read
August 7, 1931 - January 31, 2001
The death of Laurie Read occurred at the Moncton City Hospital on January 31, 2001 after a lengthy illness.
Born in Dorchester Cape, NB, he was a son of the late Alton and Burma (Buck) Read.
Laurie was a lifelong carpenter, a past volunteer on the Dorchester Fire Department and past member of the Dorchester Legion.
He will be sadly missed by his wife the former Evelyn Tower, Dorchester, 5 daughters; Nancy (John) Leaman and Heather Reid both of Dorchester, Debbie (Fred) Johnson and Patricia (Mark) Estabrooks, both of Sackville and Mary (Gary) Bowes of Petitcodiac, NB, 1 son; Gary Reid of Dorchester, 11 grandchildren; Brian, Mark, Leigh, James, Patrick, Gary, Ryan, Craig, Zachery, Trevor and Tyler, 1 brother Alton (Margaret) Read of Hamilton, ON, and 4 sisters; Eileen Cole, Edith (Gary) Colp, and Margaret (Lloyd) Johnson, all of Dorchester and Nellie Brown of Havelock, NB. He was predeceased by children, Larry, Lawrence and Karen, 1 sister Madeline Long, 3 brothers; Ainsley, Charles and Lester.
The remains will be resting at the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville, NB (364-1300) on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Friday, February 2, 2001 at 2 PM at the Funeral Home, Rev. Rick Marsters officiating. Burial will take place in the spring at the Dorchester Rural Cemetery. The family has requested donations be made to the NB Lung Association, the Sackville Memorial Hospital Auxiliary or charity of the donors choice.
Nora Phinney
July 20, 2001
The death of Nora Phinney, age 71, widow of Ralph Phinney, occurred on Friday, July 20, 2001 at the Moncton City Hospital.
Born in Sackville she was a daughter of the late Lorne and Maude (Holmes) Sears.
Nora was a member of the Midgic Baptist Church and the Ladies Aid. She was always involved in community work and helped anywhere she could.
She will be sadly missed by 3 daughters, Anna Hicks, Point de Bute, NB, Doreen (Thomas) Sears, Midgic, NB, and Carol (David) Richard, Sackville, NB, 3 sons, Russell (Earlene), Amherst, NS, Raymond (Gwenyth), Murray Corner and Ronald (Will) , Vancouver, BC, 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, 3 sisters, Winona Sears, Dieppe, NB, Edith (Leonard) Blacklock, Port Elgin, NB, Marie Trenholm, Dorchester, NB, 4 brothers, Gerald (Betty) Sears, Kelowna, BC, Cedric (Claire) Sears, Reginald (Rosaline) Sears and Laurie Sears, all of Sackville, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister Shirley.
The remains are resting at the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville (364-1300) with visitation Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. The funeral service will be held at the Midgic Baptist Church on Sunday, July 22, 2001 at 2:30 PM. Burial in the Midgic Cemetery. F. LeRoy (Roy) Corney
March 1, 1912 - August 20, 2001
The death of F. LeRoy (Roy) Corney, age 89, of Gables Lodge, Amherst, formerly of Sackville occurred at the Gables Lodge on Monday, August 20, 2001.
Born in Charlottetown, PEI, he was a son of the Late Nathaniel and Jane (Chandler) Corney.
He was employed for 32 years at Robb Engineering in Amherst, retiring in 1975. He was a former member of the Loyal Orange Lodge and the True Blue Lodge and the international order of Good Templars. He was a member of the Salvation Army, Amherst.
He is survived by 1 son; George of Amherst, several step-children, 1 sister, Thelma Stanford of Maple Creek, Saskatchewan, 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Four times married he was predeceased by wives, Elizabeth Briggs , Adella Ward, Lillian McClelland and Irene .
The remains are resting at the Salvation Army Citadel, Amherst, NS with visiting hours Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. Wanda Mherle Wheeler
September 21, 1912 - October 3, 2001
The death of Wanda Wheeler, 89, of New Glasgow, PEI, formerly of Sackville, occurred in Charlottetown, PEI on Wednesday, October 3, 2001.
Born in Midgic, she was a daughter of the late Elmer and Clarissa (Wheaton) Phinney.
She was a former member of the Ruby Rebekah Lodge, and the Middle Sackville Baptist Church Quilting Group.
She is survived by her son Elmer (Dunk) Wheeler (Pearl), New Glasgow, PEI, 4 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband John R. Wheeler, and daughter Ruth Joanne Doherty.
Her remains are resting at the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville, NB (364-1300) with visiting hours on Thursday. The funeral will be held at the funeral home on Friday, October 5, 2001 at 2 PM, Pastor Vernon Vickruck officiating. Burial will follow in the Sackville Cemetery.
