Dave Thomas
On February 14, 2003, Dave Thomas, age 65, of Fort Folly First Nation, passed away at the Sackville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Moncton, NB, he was a son of the Late Peter and Kathleen (Bernard) Thomas.
He was a member of the Canadian Navy serving a long prestigious career of 25 years from 1954 to 1979, retiring with the rank of Petty Officer First Class. After returning to Fort Folly he went to work at the Dorchester Penitentiary as supervisor of electronics.. Dave was the Chief of the Fort Folly First Nations for 7 years from 1990 until his retirement in 1997.
Dave will be sadly missed by his wife of 23 years; Marion (Cady) of Fort Folly, his daughter Michelle Soulodre of Winnipeg, MB, step-daughter; Linda Maddox (James) of Dartmouth, NS, 3 grandchildren; Ben, Valerie and Jason, 4 great grandchildren, his Aunt Dorothy Nye of Dorchester and several cousins, 1 half-brother; Patrick McCarron, Florida, 2 half-sisters; Marie Roberts of Oldtown, Maine and Kathleen McCarron of Florida.
He is predeceased by his brother John..The remains are resting at the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville, NB (364-1300) where the visiting hours will be held on Saturday from 7 to 9 and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held on Monday, February 17, 2003 at 11 am at the Jones Funeral Home. Burial will take place in the spring at the Beaumont Cemetery.

Elizabeth M. Rogers
April 13, 1909 - February 25, 2003
The death of Elizabeth M. Rogers, age 93, of Port Elgin, NB, occurred on Tuesday, February 25, 2003 at the Westford Nursing Home.
Born in Port Elgin, NB, she was a daughter of Jacques and Eugenie (Leger) Arsenault. She was a member of St. Clement's Roman Catholic Church.
She will be fondly remembered by her brother Leo of Shediac, her sister; Ada LeBlanc of Port Elgin, and a nephew Donald (Claudette) LeBlanc of Shediac River. She was predeceased by her husband Martin in 1980, brothers; Fred, Adrice, Edward, and Romeo, sisters; Eva, Marceline, and Emerise.
The remains are resting at the Jones Funeral Home, 3 Main St., Port Elgin, NB (538-2241), with visiting hours on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. The funeral service will be held at St. Clement's Catholic Church, Port Elgin, on Thursday, February 27, 2003 at 11 am, Rev. Father Phil Mulligan officiating. Burial will take place in St. Theresa D'Avila Roman Catholic Cemetery, Cap-Pelé in the spring. Donations to the Westford Nursing Home, the Dr. Georges L. Dumont Hospital, or the charity of your choice.
Tilman Legere
The death of Tilman Legere, age 90 of Lower Cap Pele, occurred at the Dr. George DuMont Hospital on Thursday, March 13, 2003.
Born in St. Andre, he was a son of the Late Ferdinand and Delena (LeBlanc) Legere. Tilman was a lifelong carpenter working for many years with Speedy Auto Glass in Toronto retiring to Lower Cap Pele in 1972.
He is survived by 1 son; Ronald (Betty) of Barrie, ON and 1 foster daughter; Eva (Terry) Tapping of London, ON, 4 grandchildren and several great grandchildren, 2 sisters, Dinah (Medee) Gallant, Grand Digue & Mary Legere, Shediac Bridge and a brother Joe (Alice) of Shediac Bridge.
The remains are resting at the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville, NB with visitation Sunday from 7 to 9 PM. A funeral service will be held at the Jones Funeral Home, Sackville, Monday, March 17, 2003 at 4 PM, officiated by Tilman's grandson. There will also be a Memorial Mass celebrated at St. Therese d'Avila Roman Catholic Church, Cap Pele in Tilman's memory on Tuesday, March 18,. 2003 at 9:30 AM. All friends and relatives are invited to both services. Burial in the parish Cemetery, Cap Pele in the spring.
Logan James Cole
June 3, 1992 - February 26, 2003
The tragic death of Logan Cole, age 11, occurred at his home as the result of a fire on Wednesday, February 26, 2003.
Born in Moncton, he was a son of Ted and Sharon (Bott) Cole.
Logan, a special needs child (autism), was a student at Port Elgin Regional School, and participated in an Individual Education Program administered by his teachers and teacher assistants. He was a member of the Cumberland Early Intervention Smile Program. Logan loved to swim, and was a member of the Special Populations Swimming Group.
Logan will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his parents Ted and Sharon his brothers; Liam and Taylor, both at home, his paternal grandparents; C.W. (Dud) and Madeline Cole of Port Elgin, NB, maternal grandfather and step nanny Art and Joy Bott of Rocky Mountain House, AB, as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins, and a large circle of friends. He was predeceased by his maternal grandmother Myrtle Bott.
The remains are resting at the Jones Funeral Home, 3 West Main St., Port Elgin, NB (364-1300) with visiting hours on Saturday, March 1, 2003 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. The funeral service will take place on Sunday at 2 pm at the Port Elgin Regional School, Rev. Jay Ettinger officiating.

Emery Brine
The death of Emery Brine, age 52, of Cap Pele and formerly of Sackville, occurred at the Moncton City Hospital on Monday, March 10, 2003.
Born in Sackville, he was a son of Lorraine (Legere) Brine and the late Alfred Brine.
He will be sadly missed by his special friend, Brenda Goralczyk, his mother, Lorraine Brine, Sackville, a daughter, Daisy Arsenault, Sackville, brothers, Oswald, Edward and Peter, five sisters, Theresa, Yvonne, Doris, Shirley and Sarah.
The remains are resting at the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville, NB with visitation Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 12, 2003 at 2 PM, Rev. Barry Todd officiating. Burial in the Sackville Cemetery
in the spring.
Lloyd Brenton
August 21, 1911 - February 18, 2003
Sackville, NB: The death of Lloyd Brenton, 91, of Sackville, formerly of Amherst, occurred on February 18, 2003 at his residence.
Born in Amherst, he was the son of the late Leander W. and Lottie (Fillmore) Brenton.
Lloyd operated a grocery store in Amherst for a nember of years and was employed at Canadian Car and Foundry during the war years. He worked for CN Telegraph in many of their offices in the Maritimes including Sackville. Prior to his retirement he was employed at Dorchester Penitentiary.
The last surviving member of his immediate family he is survived by a niece and 2 nephews. He was predeceased by his wife the former Aura Bell Carroll (1981), his brotherrs Welsford and Wallace, and a sister Isabel Purchase.
At Lloyd's request there will be no visitation or memorial service. Burial in the Amherst Cemetery
in the spring. Arrangements are in care of Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St. (364-1300).
Virginia "Ginny" Estabrooks
The death of Virginia "Ginny" Estabrooks, age 55 of Sackville occurred suddenly at the Moncton City Hospital on Friday, December 14, 2001.
Born in Amherst, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Freda (Ayer) Waterlot.
"Ginny" was a teacher's assistant at Tantramar Regional High School where she worked for the last 13 years. She was a former employee with the Tribune Post and the Amherst Daily News.
"Ginny" will be sadly missed by her husband Barry(Butch) Estabrooks, Sackville, a son John (Stacey), Oxford, NS, a daughter, Trina Estabrooks (Richard Landry), Memramcook, 5 grandchildren, Alyssa, Dillon, Damien, Jennifer and Richard, a brother, Bob Waterlot, Sackville and numerous aunts and uncles.
The remains are resting at the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville with visitation on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, December 16, 2001 at 2 PM, Rev. Dr. Jamie Gripton officiating. Burial in the Sackville Cemetery. A time of tea and fellowship will be held at the funeral home following the committal service.
