Curtis Crossman
The death of Curtis Crossman aged 90, husband of Eleanor (Taylor) Crossman occured at the Sackville Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, December 17,2002.
Born in Woodhurst, NB he was a son of the Late Harriet (McFadden) and Perry Crossman.
After farming for twenty-eight years in Taylor Village he returned to his boyhood home in Dorchester in 1967. He attended the United Church in Dorchester and enjoyed gardening, reading, and talking with friends.
He is survived by his wife Eleanor of Dorchester, two daughters Rena (Wayne) Nickerson and grandsons Peter and Troy of Westville, NS and Edith (Wayne) Gillcash of Taylor Village, NB, a brother Perley of Dieppe,NB , a sister Ina Cawdle of Sackville, sister-in-law Mary Crossman of Amherst and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers Reginald and Seldon.
A private funeral service will be held at the Jones Funeral Home in Sackville with Rev. Margaret Outerbridge officiating. There will be no visitation by request. Memorials in memory of Curtis may be made to the Dorchester United Church (Carl Kingston) , the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of ones choice.
Verdell Allen
The death of Verdell Allen, age 63, occurred suddenly at his home, Upper Cape on Sunday, December 8, 2002.
Born in Malden, he was a son of Helen (Trenholm) and the late Wendell Allen. A carpenter, he worked in the Tantramar area most of his life. He was a member of the St. Bartholomew's Roman Catholic Church, Melrose.
Verdell will be sadly missed by his wife, the former Coreen Perry, his mother Helen Allen, Scoudouc, 2 sons, Larry (Tammy) and Kevin, both of Upper Cape and 2 daughters, Suzette (Timothy) Ketchum, Hampton and Kim Pauley of Port Elgin, 8 grandchildren, 3 brothers, Walter (Joan), Westchester, NS, Charles and Junior (Dawn) both of Scoudouc, 5 sisters, Coleen (Emery) Lewis and Laverne (Romeo) Savoie both of Scoudouc, Glenna (Henry) Heighton, River John, NS, Ardith MacAloney, Chignecto, NS and Sandra (Maurice) Baxter, Halifax. He was predeceased by 2 sisters, Muriel and Mary-Janet.
The remains are resting at the Jones Funeral Home, Port Elgin, NB (364-1300) with visitation Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, December 12, 2002 at 11 AM at St. Bartholomew's Roman Catholic Church, Melrose. Burial in the parish cemetery.
Elfleda Snowdon
The death of Elfleda Snowdon, age 91, widow of Walter Snowdon occurred on Sunday, August 4, 2002 at the Sackville Memorial Hospital
Born in Taxis River, NB she was a daughter of the late Harry and Pearle (Parker) Spencer. Formerly a school teacher, she taught in several of New Brunswick's one room schools and in the Sackville / Wood Point area. She was an active member of the Woodpoint Baptist Church for 67 years
She is survived by her daughter Doris (Ronald) Dummer, Cambridge, ON, five sons, Donald (Colleen), Cambridge, ON; William (Elizabeth) and Dale (Brenda), Wood Point, NB; Richard (Shirley), Quispamsis, NB; James (Susan), Kentville, NS. 25 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and her sister-in-law Grace Spencer of Boiestown, NB and her daughter-in-law Deline Snowdon. She was predeceased by her husband Walter Snowdon in 1993, daughter Catherine Hicks, son Robert Snowdon, brother Charles Spencer, sister Leola White and infant grandson Jonathan Snowdon.
The remains are resting at the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville, NB (364-1300) with visitation Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2002 at 2 PM at the funeral home, Pastor John Kiehn officiating. Burial in the Westcock Cemetery.

Bertha McCready
The death of Bertha McCready, age 90, wife of Arthur McCready of Johnson's Mills occurred suddenly at the Sackville Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, August 21, 2002.
Born in Johnson's Mills, she was a daughter of the late George and Mary (Ward) McFadden. Bertha was a generous person, who loved nature and all of God's creatures. She was a great hostess, and was well known for her needlework, knitting and sewing, much of which she donated to various organizations.
Bertha will be sadly missed by her husband, Arthur, Johnson's Mills; 3 sons, Arthur (Joyce), Montreal, Richard (Trudy), Oshawa and Wallace (Helen), Moncton; 2 daughters, Elizabeth (Walter) Bourque, Antigonish, Patricia (Allan) Jones, Johnson's Mills, a brother, George McFadden, Moncton; 12 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, brothers, Hibbert, Walter and Arnold and by sisters, Margaret and Joyce.
The remains are resting at the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville (364-1300) with visitation Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, August 24, 2002 at 11 AM. Burial in the Dorchester Rural Cemetery
at a later date.
Myers Allen
The death of Myers Allen, age 83, of Bayfield, occurred at the Sackville Memorial Hospital on Thursday, March 13, 2003, following a brief illness.
Born in Little Shemogue, he was a son of the late Acomb and Elizabeth (Cadman) Allen.
A lifelong fisherman, he had also been a lobster buyer for 29 years in various parts of the Maritimes. He was an avid sportsfan. He was a member of the Bayfield United Church.
In addition to his wife the former Vera Spence, Bayfield he is survived by 1 daughter, Betty (John), Csutorka, Enfield, NS and 2 sons, Roger (Terry), Taymouth, NB and George (Patricia), Bayfield, NB, 5 grandchildren; Steven, Kevin, Preston, Emma, and Tomas , and a sister, Annie Murray, Murray Corner, NB.
The remains have been cremated. A memorial service will be held at the Jones Funeral Home, 3 West Main Street, Port Elgin on Sunday, March 16, 2003 at 2 PM, Rev. David Wright officiating. Burial in the Bayfield Cemetery
in the spring. There will be no time of visitation. A time of tea and fellowship will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of your choice.
Hallet Beal
The death of Hallet Beal, age 97, of Sackville occurred at the Moncton City Hospital following a brief illness.
Born in Midgic he was a son of the late George and Annie (Hicks) Beal. A farmer, he worked at the Enterprise Foundry for 30 years.
Hallet will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his wife of 76 years, the former Kathleen Jones, Sackville, 1 daughter, Alta (Gerald) Wry, Sackville, 3 sons, Gordon (Barb), Robert , Austin (Gloria) and daughter-in-law, Shirley, all of Sackville, 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a son Gerald, and a granddaughter Marie Wry. He was the last surviving member of a family of 11.
The remains are resting at the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville (364-1300) with visitation Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, March 16, 2003 at 4 PM, Rev. Morris Mills officiating. Burial in the Sackville Cemetery. Memorial donations gratefully accepted to the Salem Baptist Church or a charity of the donor's choice.
Boyd Bembridge
The death of Boyd Bembridge, age 59, of Wood Point occurred suddenly at his home on Tuesday, March 4, 2003.
Born in Sackville, he was a son of the late Harold and Evelyn (Snowdon) Bembridge. Boyd was a lifelong farmer, carpenter and for the past 19 years was herdsman at Westmorland Institution, Dorchester. He was a deacon and member of the Wood Point Baptist Church.
Boyd will be sadly missed by his wife, the former Yvonne Blakney, Wood Point, 3 daughters, Heather Bembridge and Tina (Chris) Milner both of Wood Point and Darlene Bembridge, Saint John, NB, a son William (Carolyn) Bembridge, Sackville, 4 grandchildren, Kara, Kali, Mya and Kate, a brother, Norman (Barbara), of Englehart, ON. He was predeceased by his mother and father and by a brother, Merlyn and a sister, Lorraine.

The funeral service will be held Friday, March 7, 2003 at 2 PM at Main Street Baptist Church, Sackville, Pastor John Kiehn officiating. Burial in the Westcock Cemetery

Doreen Blacklock
The death of Doreen Blacklock, age 73, of Amherst, NS and formerly of Bayfield, NB, occurred suddenly at her home on Thursday, March 13, 2003.
Born in Bayfield, she was a daughter of the late Lyle and Fern (McMorris) McGlashen. An accomplished musician, she played the church organ for a number of years, often playing for social events and teaching music.
