Timothy LeBlanc
The death of Timothy LeBlanc, age 89, of Shemogue, occurred at the Dr. George DuMont Hospital on Friday, October 11, 2002.
Born in Amherst, he was a son of the late Dosithe and Melanie (Legere) LeBlanc. A Carpenter, he was also the Caretaker of the St. Timothy Parish Church, Shemogue, for many years prior to his retirement.
Tim will be sadly missed by his wife of 57 years, the former Edna Melanson, Shemogue. He will be fondly remembered by his 3 SONS; Raymond and Roger, both of Shemogue and by Leo-Paul (Marie Lyn) of London, ON; 3 BROTHERS; Emile LeBlanc and Robert Cullen both of Shemogue and Leonce LeBlanc of Gravenhurst, ON. He was predeceased by his daughter Theresa in 1995.
The remains are resting at the Club D'Age D'Or de Shemogue with visitation Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. The funeral mass will be held from St. Timothy Roman Catholic Church, Shemogue on Monday, October 14, 2002 at 10 AM. Burial in the Parish Cemetery.
Minerva Goodwin
March 8, 1925 - October 23, 2002
The death of Minerva Goodwin, age 77, of Sackville, occurred on Wednesday, October 23, 2002 at the Moncton City Hospital.
Born in Midgic, NB, she was a daughter of the late Willard and Mary (Estabrooks) Hicks.Minerva was well known to the residents of Sackville, working along side her husband Bernard at Mel's Tearoom for 43 years.
She will be sadly missed by her son; Darrel (Jill), Cape Pele, her daughter; Barbara (Mike) Bickerton, Sussex, NB, 2 step sons, Gary (Rosemary), and Roger (Marilyn), both of Sackville, 2 step daughters; Anna (Monty) Snowdon, Sackville, and Mary (Brian) Carter, Mt. Whatley, 15 Grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 1 brother; Wilfred (Irene) Hicks of Sackville, 3 sisters; Linda Hicks, Halifax, Bertie Fenton, Halifax, Marina (Henry) Richard, Sackville, and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by husband Bernard in 1999, three brothers; Curtis, Ed, and Charles Hicks, and three sisters; Bernice Hicks, Marie Chase, and Muriel Jewers. The remains are resting at the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville, NB (364-1300), with visiting hours on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. The funeral will be Saturday, October 26, 2002 at 11 AM at the Jones Funeral Home, Pastor Barry Todd, and Rev. Kevin Stockall officiating. Burial will follow in the Sackville Cemetery. Those wishing to make donations may do so to the Canadian Diabetes., Heart and Stroke, or the charity of the donors choice.
Muriel Cooke
The death of Muriel Cooke, 84, of Sackville, formerly of Dorchester, occurred on Thursday, October 10, 2002 at the Drew Nursing Home, Sackville.
Born in Dorchester, NB, she was a daughter of the Late Frederick and Ethel (McPhee) Stiles.She was a member of the Dorchester United Baptist Church and the Baptist Missionary Society.
Muriel is survived by one son, Douglas (Sharon) MacNeill, Cold Lake, Alberta, one grandson; David, Provost, AB; two great grandchildren, Taylor and Eric; a brother; Earl ( Dorothy) Stiles, Norwood, Ontario, She was predeceased by her husbands, Douglas MacNeill and Herman Cooke and brothers Charles, Roy, Ralph, Arnold and Lionel.
The remains are resting at the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville (364-1300) with visitation Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, October 14, 2002 at 2 PM, Rev. Rick Marsters officiating. Burial in the Sackville Cemetery.
Douglas R. Beaton
September 7, 1924 - October 20, 2002
The death of Douglas R. Beaton, age 78 of Amherst, occurred Sunday, October 20, 2002 at the Highland View Regional Hospital.
Born in Springhill, he was a son of the late Daniel and Elizabeth (Tabor) Beaton. Doug was a survivor of the Springhill Mine Explosion of 1956. For 20 years he worked in Waltham, Mass., retiring to Amherst in 1986. He was a 50 year member of the IOOF Lodge.
Doug will be sadly missed by his wife, the former Nettie Hicks, Amherst, 2 daughters, Hedi (Ron) Sutherland and Raylene (John) Hayman, both of St. Stephen, and a son Jack Beaton of Springhill, 4 grandsons, also his favorite mother-in-law, Amy Hicks, Sackville. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family being predeceased by 8 brothers.
The remains have been forwarded for cremation. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville (506-364-1300) on Thursday, October 24, 2002 at 11 AM, Pastor Hal Lowther officiating. Burial in the Midgic Cemetery. All are invited to a time of tea and fellowship at the funeral home immediately following the memorial service.
Helen Oulton
The death of Helen Oulton, age 91, widow of Edgar Oulton, occurred at the Sackville Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, November 13, 2002.
Born in Tidnish, NB, she was a daughter of the late Morey and Lily (Brundage) Strang.
Helen will be sadly missed by her son Guy (Wendy) of Tidnish, NS. a brother, Roy Strang, of Baie Verte, NB, 5 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her husband Edgar in 1948, and a son Donald in 1994, brothers and sisters, Aubrey, Beulah and Ruthie.
The remains are resting at the Jones Funeral Home, 3 West Main St., Port Elgin with visitation Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, November 16, 2002 at 11 AM, Rev. Jay Ettinger officiating. Burial in the Riverside Cemetery, Tidnish, NS.
Carol LeBlanc
June 3, 1947 - November 8, 2002
Surrounded by her family, Carol LeBlanc, age 55, of Port Elgin, passed away peacefully at her residence on Friday, November 8, 2002 after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Born in Baie Verte, NB, she was a daughter of the late Ralph and Alice (Wilshaw) Scott.
She will be sadly missed by her husband James of Port Elgin, her daughter Julia Webber, Barrie, Ont, and son Wayne, Port Elgin, step-daughter Tammy Hogg, North York, Ont, step son; Dwayne Hogg, Barrie, Ont, one grandson Christopher, 2 sisters; Christine (Lyman) Trenholm, Cape Spear, and Judy MacRae, Port Elgin, NB.
The remains are resting at the Jones Funeral Home, 3 Main St., Port Elgin, NB, (538-2241), on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will take place from the Baie Verte St. James United Church on Monday, November 11, 2002 at 2 pm, Rev. Jay Ettinger and Rev. Phil Mulligan officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Clement's Catholic Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Extra Mural Hospital, or the charity of your choice.
Fida May Estabrooks
The death of Fida Estabrooks, age 99, of Sackville, occurred at the Drew Nursing Home on Tuesday, November 26, 2002.
Born in Town Plot, NS, she was a daughter of the late William and Naomi (Hiltz) Throop.
She will be sadly missed by her son George Estabrooks, Sackville, her daughter Rita (Roy) Mossman, Sackville, 2 grandchildren, Patricia Allen and Linda Cunningham, 2 step Grandchildren, John Richardson and Ernest Richardson, 8 great grandchildren and numerous great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Tory in 1971, a brother Raymond and a sister Annie.
The remains are resting at the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St, Sackville, NB (364-1300), on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held on Friday, November 29, 2002 at 2 pm, Rev. Father Kevin Stockall officiating. Burial will follow in the Sackville Cemetery.
Annie Rayworth
April 20, 1901 - November 10, 2002
Surrounded by her family, Annie Rayworth, age 101, of Port Elgin, formerly of Jolicure, passed away peacefully, at the Westford Nursing Home, Port Elgin, on Sunday, November 10, 2002.
Born in Murray Corner, NB, she was a daughter of the late Harlon and Jennie (Chapmen) Allen.
Living over a century, Annie experienced much, giving and receiving love from friends and family alike. She was a member of the Women's Institute, an honorary member of the Saint John Lionettes, a member of the Jolicure United Church Choir, and worked as a nurses aid at the Sackville Memorial Hospital and the Silver Glade Nursing Home in Saint John, as well as caring for many patients in their home.
She will be fondly remembered by her 2 daughters; Betty (Wallce) Cudmore, of Riverview, and Estella (Harry) Haynes, of Mt. Whatley, 4 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren, brother in law Leo Niles of Port Elgin and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband William, .three brothers; Harold, Ralph and Ritchie, two sisters; Reva Trenholm and Cora Niles, one grand daughter and two great grandsons.
The remains are resting at the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville, NB (364-1300), where visiting hours will be held on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral will be held from the funeral home on Tuesday, November 12, 2002 at 2:30 pm, Rev. Jay Ettinger officiating. Annie will be laid to rest beside her husband the late William Rayworth in the Point De Bute Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation may do so to the Westford Nursing Home Foundation.
