Bryan (Bunny) Hicks
The death of Bryan (Bunny) Hicks, age 56, of Sackville occurred at the Moncton City Hospital on Saturday, July 13, 2002.
Born in Sackville He was a son of the late Donald and May (Spiers) Hicks. Bryan will be long remembered by those who knew him best for his talents as an artist and poet.
Bryan is survived by his former wife Melanie (Newbery), Calgary, AB, 2 daughters, Zoë (Christopher) Thompson, Calgary, AB, Jennie Newbery, Salisbury, England, 2 brothers, Donald (Alberta), Fredericton, Michael, Calgary, 2 sisters, Patricia (Terry) Conner, Moncton, Margaret (Duane) Wheeler, Kitchener, ON. He was predeceased by a brother, Terry.
The remains are resting at the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville (364-1300) with visitation Wednesday July 17 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. The funeral service will be held at the St. Paul's Anglican Church, Sackville on Thursday, July 18, 2002 at 11 AM, Rev. Kevin Stockall officiating. Burial in the Sackville Cemetery.
Bertha McCready
The death of Bertha McCready, age 90, wife of Arthur McCready of Johnson's Mills occurred suddenly at the Sackville Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, August 21, 2002.
Born in Johnson's Mills, she was a daughter of the late George and Mary (Ward) McFadden. Bertha was a generous person, who loved nature and all of God's creatures. She was a great hostess, and was well known for her needlework, knitting and sewing, much of which she donated to various organizations.
Bertha will be sadly missed by her husband, Arthur, Johnson's Mills; 3 sons, Arthur (Joyce), Montreal, Richard (Trudy), Oshawa and Wallace (Helen), Moncton; 2 daughters, Elizabeth (Walter) Bourque, Antigonish, Patricia (Allan) Jones, Johnson's Mills, a brother, George McFadden, Moncton; 12 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, brothers, Hibbert, Walter and Arnold and by sisters, Margaret and Joyce.
The remains are resting at the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville (364-1300) with visitation Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, August 24, 2002 at 11 AM. Burial in the Dorchester Rural Cemetery
at a later date.
Albert Joseph Melanson
The death of Albert Joseph Melanson, age 60 of Sackville occurred at the Sackville Memorial Hospital, Friday, July 19, 2002.
Born in Sackville he was a son of Leona (Richard) Melanson and the late Ernest Melanson. Albert was an employee with Tantramar Sanitation & Trucking Ltd. He was a member of St. Vincent's Roman Catholic Church, Sackville and an associate member of the Sackville Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion.
Albert will be sadly missed by his mother, Leona (Richard), Sackville, 5 brothers, Alyre, Montreal, QC, Arthur (Jenny), Cambridge, ON, Larry (Freda), Winnipeg, MN, Donald (Theresa) Miramichi, NB, Allen (Donna), Kingston, ON, 2 sisters, Paula Melanson, Victoria, BC, Janet (Tom) Nicherson, Oshawa, ON, 26 nieces and nephews and 25 great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Ernest, 2 brothers, Raymond and Norman and a sister Yvonne.
The remains are resting at the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville (364-1300) with visitation Saturday from 7 to 9 and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. The funeral mass will be celebrated from St. Vincent's Roman Catholic Church, Sackville on Monday, July 22, 2002 at 11 AM. Father Phil Mulligan officiating. Burial in the Parish Cemetery. All are invited to a prayer vigil on Sunday evening at 8:30 at the funeral home.
Minnie B. Strang
The death of Minnie B. Strang, age 76 of Moncton and formerly of Baie Verte, NB occurred suddenly on Thursday, July 4, 2002 in Halifax.
Born in Job's Cove, NF she was a daughter of the late William and Jessie (Street) Halliday.Minnie will be sadl;y missed by her daughter Sharon (Donald) Cormier, Moncton, a son Kenneth (Ellen), Fredericton, 3 sisters, Florence (Max) Oliver, St. John's, NF, Janet Wheeler, NF and Elsie Halliday, Montreal as well as her 2 grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Aubrey Strang in 1989, as well as by two brothers John and an infant.
The remains are resting at the Jones Funeral Home, 3 W. Main St., Port Elgin (364-1300) with visitation Friday from 7 to 9 PM and Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, July 7, 2002 at 2 PM, Rev. Jay Ettinger officiating. Burial in the Riverside Cemetery, Tidnish, NS.
Kim Ward
The death of Kimberley Ann Ward (Kim), age 37, of Sackville, occurred at the Moncton City Hospital on Monday, July 1, 2002.
Born in Sackville, NB, she was a daughter of Helen Ward and step-father Jack Nicholson.
Kim was a special girl to all who knew her. She loved music, life and her family and friends, who will miss her terribly.
In addition to her mother and step-father, of Sackville, she will be fondly remembered by her sister; Karen Stultz of Amherst, several Aunts, Uncles, cousins and 2 nieces.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 7 to 9 pm from the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St, Sackville, NB, where the funeral will be held on Thursday at 11 am, Rev. Kevin Stockall officiating. Burial will follow in the Sackville Cemetery. Those wishing to make donations may do so to the Sackville Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
Shauna Lynn Wilson
February 9, 1986 - July 23, 2002
Shauna Lynn Wilson, of Sackville, NB, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, July 23, 2002 in Moncton, as the result of a motor vehicle accident at the age of 16.
Born in Moncton, NB, she will be sadly missed by her parents Kevin Wilson and Angela (Chapman) Wilson, both of Sackville, NB.
Shauna was a student at Tantramar Regional High School. She was known to all as a caring person who deeply valued her many friends.
In addition to her parents, she will be fondly remembered by her maternal grandparents Ronald Chapman and Jeannita (Cormier) Chapman, both of Dorchester, and her paternal grandmother Rose (MacDonald) Wilson of Sackville, several aunts and uncles; Scott, Randell, Darrell, Sherry, Rick, Donnie, Brenda, Marilyn and Janet.
Visiting hours will take place on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville, NB (364-1300). The funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Friday, July 26, 2002 at 2 PM, Father R.B. Stockall officiating. Burial will follow in the Sackville Cemetery. Donations may be made to the I.W.K., or the charity of choice.
Janet Elizabeth Allen
The death of Janet E. Allen, age 89 of Port Elgin, occurred at the Sackville Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, January 7, 2003.
Born in Little Shemogue, NB, she was a daughter of William and Florence (Johnson) Anderson.
She was an active member of the Port Elgin Trinity United Church, and the UCW. She worked for the Village of Port Elgin, for many years.
She will be sadly missed by her son Donald (Ellen) of Riverview, and her sister-in-law Phyllis Anderson of Baie Verte, and her special family; Wendy, Darrell, Jennifer, Nicole and Ben.
She was predeceased by her husband Alvin in 1998, 3 brothers; Percy, Russell, and Harry, and one sister Emma.A memorial service will be held at the Port Elgin Trinity United Church on Saturday, January 11, 2003 at 2 PM, Rev. David Eagles officiating. Burial will take place in the Fernwood Cemetery
in the spring.

Alice Béatrice Comeau
1899 - 2003
The death of Alice Béatrice Comeau, age 103, occurred at the Dr Georges-L.-Dumont Hospital on Sunday, January 26, 2003.
Born in Middle Sackville, NB, on April 9th, 1899, she was a daughter of the late Raymond and Elise (Mills) Leger. Beatrice had been active in St. Clement's Parish as organist, member of CWL and Dames de Ste-Anne, visiting the sick and advising all who sought her counsel. She enjoyed traveling, including an unforgettable trip to Rome to see Pope John Paul II, when she was 82, and on to England and many parts of Canada and USA. Music, drama, photography and sports were a big part of her life. She was a great Blue Jays' fan and collected many souvenirs of the team. She kept abreast of current news, on TV as well as from 3 local papers both English and French. Her extensive family and friends, were privileged to have the benefit of her wisdom and counsel. She will be greatly missed by all.
She is survived by six daughters: Rita Webster (Ernest), Toronto, ON, Eleanor Park (Bill), Miami, FL, Eunice Whitehead, Toronto, ON, Ola Williams, Port Elgin, NB, Albertine Comeau, Moncton, NB, Esther Fearon (Austin), Greater Lakeburn, NB; one sister, Esther Leger, Toronto, ON; 22 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Adolphe Comeau and by daughters: Ida, Maria and Marguerite-Marie; four brothers: George, Henry, Raymond, Roy; and seven sisters: Edna, Marie, Isabella, Clarice, Bessie, Florence and Dorette.
The remains are resting at the Jones Funeral Home, 3 West Main St., Port Elgin (364-1300), with visitation Monday from 7 to 9 and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. The funeral mass will be celebrated Wednesday, January 29th, 2003 from St. Clement's Roman Catholic Church, Port Elgin, at 11 AM. Burial will be in the parish cemetery in the spring.
