Stanley Elbridge Tower
June 3, 1911 - February 16, 2001
The death of Stanley Tower, age 89 of Saint John and formerly of Sackville occurred at the Loch Lomond Villa on Friday, February 16, 2001 following a lengthy illness.
Born in Rockport, NB he was a son of the Late Irvin and Della (Maxwell) Tower.
A 37 year employee of Enamel and Heating he retired in 1976. He was a member of the Main Street Baptist Church.
Stanely will be sadly missed by his 4 sons, Edward (Breta), Newmarket, ON, Colin (Linda), Quispamsis, Tony (Geri), Sackville and Phillip (Irene), Sackville, NS, 2 step-daughters, Loretta Mahaffey, Arlington, Texas and Valerie (Donald) Fitzpatrick, Saint John, 2 sisters, Marion Cole, Sackville, Verna Dudinsky, Canmore, AB, 11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and several step grandchildren. He was predeceased by 2 wives, Lalia Cole in 1986 and Rhoda Vincent in 1999, 3 brothers, Lloyd, Hedley and Cecil and 1 sister Shirley.
The remains are resting at the Jones Funeral Home 70 Bridge St., Sackville (364--1300) with visiting hours Sunday from 7 to 9 and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 20, 2001 at 2 PM, Rev. Barry Todd officiating. Burial in the Rockport Cemetery
in the spring. Donations to the Alzheimers Society or the Main Street Baptist Church would be appreciated.
John Irvine Estabrooks
November 22, 1911 - February 10, 2001
The death of John I. Estabrooks, age 89 of Sackville occurred at the Moncton City Hospital on Saturday, February 10, 2001.
Born in Midgic he was a son of the Late Hedley and Theresa (Estabrooks) Estabrooks.
John was a member of the CNR Brotherhood and a member of Main Street Baptist Church, Sackville. He was employed with the CNR for 40 years prior to his retirement.
John will be sadly missed by his wife, the former Viola Saunders, a son, Irvine (Shirley) Estabrooks of Greely, ON, a step daughter; Bessie May Dunick, of Halifax, a sister; Beatrice Fillmore of Midgic, and a brother; Homer Estabrooks of Sackville, 3 grandchildren, Wendy Oswald of Ottawa, Alan Estabrooks of Hamilton and John Estabrooks of Ottawa, 2 step grandsons, Leith Dunick of Moncton and Gordon Dunick of Vancouver. He was predeceased by a sister Aletha Estabrooks and by a brother Whitney Estabrooks.
The remains are resting at the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville (364-1300) with visiting hours Monday February 12 from 7 to 9 PM and Tuesday from 1 PM until the time of the funeral. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home, Tuesday, February 13, 2001 at 2 PM, Rev. Barry Todd officiating. Burial in the Sackville Cemetery
in the spring. Donations to the Midgic Baptist Church or the Sackville Memorial Hospital Auxiliary would be appreciated.
Willis Goodwin
February 13, 2001
The death of Willis Goodwin, age 78 of Baie Verte, NB occurred at the Sackville Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, February 13, 2001.
Born in Coburg, NB he was a son of the Late Clarence and Alice (Goodwin) Goodwin.
A former employee of General Motors in Oshawa, ON , he worked as a stone mason after returning to the Maritimes in 1964.
Willis is survived by 2 daughters, Debbie (Gerald) Goodwin, Baie Verte and Ella (John) Raaphorst of Bowmanville, ON, a brother Bob of Coburg, 2 sisters, Audrey Beal, Port Hope, ON and Rhoda (Andy) Macdonald, Coburg, ON, 4 grandchildren, Travis, Cindy, Kevin and Dale and 2 great grandchildren, Crystal and Kym. He was predeceased by his wife the former Hilda Sprague in 1997 and a son Albert in 1997.
The remains are resting at the Jones Funeral Home, 3 West Main St., Port Elgin (364-1300) with visiting hours Thursday from 7 to 9 PM. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, February 16, 2001 at 2 PM. Rev. Stephen McAllister officiating. Burial in the Baie Verte Cemetery
in the spring.
Ronald Dean MacGregor
August 26, 1953 - February 3, 2001
The death of Ron MacGregor, age 47 of Dorchester, occurred suddenly at the Sackville Memorial Hospital on Saturday, February 3, 2001.
Born in Sackville, he was a son of Robert MacGregor of Fredericton and the late Lorna (Crossman) MacGregor.
He was a member of the 8th Canadian Hussars, C Squadron in Sackville for more than 20 years. He also coached minor baseball in Sackville for several years. He was a member of the Sackville Golf and Country Club and was an avid hunter. He loved working with computers and operated MacGregor's Computer Services. He was an employee with CNR for 22 years.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife the former Pauline Spence, of Dorchester, his son Dale (Tanya) of Springhill, 2 daughters Dawn (Brian) of Mississauga and Kerri-Lynn at home, 1 grandson Brandon, his father-in-law Garfield Spence and his wife Betty of Dorchester. Ron will also be sadly missed by Pauline's Brothers, Sisters and their families and his many friends and co-workers. He is also survived by a brother Robert of Ontario, a sister; Beverley of Sackville, and paternal grandparents Ian & Phyllis MacGregor of Sackville.
The remains have been forwarded for cremation. A memorial service will be held at the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St, Sackville, NB (364-1300) on Wednesday, February 7, 2001 at 2 PM, Rev. Jamie Gripton officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
Lillian Martin
October 21, 1917 - January 31, 2001
The death of Lillian Martin of Sackville, occurred suddenly at the Sackville Memorial Hospital on January 31, 2001.
Born in Springhill, NS, she was a daughter of the Late Charles and Viola (Campbell) Ashe.
Very active in her community she was a member of St. Paul's Anglican Church, the Sackville Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary and the Sackville Seniors Club. Lillian was one of the oldest and an active member of the Nova Scotia Black Cultural Society. She participated in the Salvation Army Home League. She was an avid traveller, and an enthusiastic bingo player.
She will be sadly missed by 3 sons; Brent (Bertha), Ottawa, ON, Arnold (Joanne), Amherst, NS, Wayne (Betty) of Shediac, 3 daughters; Brenda (Herbie) Belliveau, Shediac, Shirley (Butch Lamerou) Lecelle, Sudbury, ON, Gloria (Jim) Gushue, Manitouwadge, ON, 17 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, 1 sister; Sadie Allen, Springhill, NS. She was predeceased by her husband Henry in 1982, 2 sons; Clifford and Raymond, 2 brothers; Irvin and Raymond, 1 sister; Eleanor.
The remains are resting at the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St, Sackville, NB (364-1300) with visiting hours Friday from 7 to 9 pm. The funeral will be held from St. Paul's Anglican Church on Saturday, February 3, 2001 at 2 PM, Rev. Father Kevin Stockall officiating. Burial will take place in the Sackville Cemetery
in the spring. Donations to the donor's choice.
Cordelia Jean Lake
November 15, 1914 - December 29, 2000
The death of Jean Lake age 86 of Murray Corner occurred at the Sackville Memorial Hospital, on Friday, December 29, 2000.
Born in Murray Corner, NB, she was a daughter of the Late Stephen and Effie (Scott) Field.
Jean was a member of the Murray Corner First United Church a former church treasurer and member of the UCW, and past member of the Port Elgin Senior Citizen's Club. She was a well known storekeeper at Lake's General Store for 35 years in Murray Corner.
She will be sadly missed by her husband of 65 years , John Lake of Murray Corner , 3 sons; Wallace (Meredith) and Winston (Margaret) both of Murray Corner, and Stanley (Karen) of Halifax, 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by sisters, Hazel, Hannah and Myrtle and a brother Fred.
Jean Lake's funeral and burial arrangements have been entrusted to the Jones Funeral Home, 3 West Main St, Port Elgin, NB (364-1300) from where visiting hours will be held Saturday, December 30, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM.
The funeral service will be held at the First United Church, Murray Corner on Sunday, December 31, 2000 at 2 PM. Burial in the Fernwood Cemetery, Port Elgin in the Spring. Those wishing may make donations to First United Church, Murray Corner or a charity of their choice.
