Vera Viola Matheson
1922-2009
Peacefully, following a brief illness, Mrs. Vera Viola (Sellars) Matheson, wife of the late Mr. Albert D. Matheson of Upper L’Etang NB, passed away at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen NB on August 4, 2009. Born at Pennfield NB on February 2, 1922, she was the youngest child of the late Harold G. and Jane V. (Hunter) Sellars. A loving mother, grandmother, and sister, she is survived by one daughter, Alberta Cooke (Raye) of St. George NB, one son, William Matheson (Marion) of Fairview AB, three grandchildren; Krista Cooke (Colin O’Leary) of St. George, Melissa Matheson of Saint John NB and Jeff Matheson (Beverley) of Canal NB, three great grandchildren; Josie and Katie Matheson of Canal and Emma-Lee O’Leary of St. George, one brother, Gordon Sellars (Marion) of Pennfield and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband Albert, she was predeceased by a granddaughter, Heather Cook, three sisters; Helen Powell, Marion Carter and Margaret Sellars, and by four brothers; Horace, Frank, Raymond and Baby Harold.
Through most of her life Vera was a devoted homemaker, making sure everyone who walked through her door was well taken care of. She enjoyed quilting and met with the Bonny River Quilters when able. Vera was a member of the Presbyterian Kirk, St. George NB and will be missed by her family and many friends.
Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB with visiting on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The service will be held from the Presbyterian Kirk, St. George, on Friday at 2 pm with Rev. Dr. Stephen Cho officiating followed by interment at the St. George Rural Cemetery. Family flowers only please. In Vera’s memory donations to the Presbyterian Kirk, St. George, or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.

Valerie Linda Robinson
1956-2009
Peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John NB on November 17, 2009, Mrs. Valerie Linda (Mercer) Robinson, wife of Mr. George R. Robinson of Canal NB. Born at Spaniards Bay NL on October 31, 1956, she was a daughter of the late Nathaniel and Hettie M. (Noseworthy) Mercer. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, in addition to her husband George, she is survived by two daughters; Jennifer Robinson of Dartmouth NS and Joanne (Dean) Nicholle of Canal NB, two grandchildren; Kaydence and Kieran, brothers; Melvin (Marjorie) Mercer and Lincoln (Millicent) Mercer both of Spaniards Bay NL, one sister, Frances (Gary) Caines of Cornerbrook NL and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Valerie was a lady of simple pleasures, who briefly worked at GMG Nets until her illness. She loved knitting, needle point and being on her computer. She enjoyed going for drives in the fall especially to see the changing of the leaves. Valerie loved to spend her free time with her family and friends who will miss her dearly.
Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium (755-3533) 26 Portage Street St. Gorge NB from where the service will be held from the Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel on Friday at 11 am with Rev. Mary Anne Langmaid officiating. Visiting will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 7-9 pm. A service of remembrance will be held at Young's Funeral Home, Spaniards Bay NL with interment at the Holy Redeemer Anglican Church Cemetery at a time to be announced. In Valerie’s memory, donations to the Lung Association or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Thomas "Boyd" MacLennan
1953-2009
Thomas “Boyd” MacLennan passed away at home on Monday November 16, 2009. Born and raised in Creighton Mine, Ontario, he was a loving husband of Laurel and loving father of Marshall and Kelly; brother to Sandy, Roy, Ruth and Phyllis. A long time resident of New Brunswick, Boyd was an accomplished handyman and jack of all trades. Boyd was well know for his sense of humour and his willingness to lend a helping hand. Boyd loved nature and the outdoors. Boyd was liked by all and a friend to all. Boyd will be missed by special companion Abby.
As keeping with Boyd’s wishes, no visitation or service will be held. Anyone wishing to express their condolences are welcome to come to the family’s home. In Boyd’s memory, donations to the Charlotte County Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family. Emma Janice McKay
1923-2009
Peacefully at her residence at Pennfield NB on November 4, 2009, Mrs. Emma J. (Scullion) McKay, wife of the late Donald W. McKay. Born at French Village NB on June 18, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Mabel Gertrude (Langstroth) Scullion. A loving mother, grandmother and sister, she is survived by her son, John McKay of Pennfield NB and by her daughter, Lorna (Steven) Ball of French Village NB, two grandchildren; Stuart and Donald Ball both of Saint John NB, one sister, Ella White of Saint John NB, one sister in law, Betty Scullion of Moncton NB and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband Don, she was predeceased by five sisters; Dorothy Dallon, Ruth Ladner, Mabel Long, Margaret Beyea and Mary Smith and by three brothers, Clifford, Ronald and George.
Prior to her retirement, Emma worked as a nurse at the Fundy Hospital at Blacks Harbour NB for a number of years. She was a member of the Christ Church (Anglican) at Pennfield NB and the Royal Canadian Legion Auxilliary Branch # 40 at St. George NB. She was a quiet person who loved spending time with her family and will be missed by all who knew her.
Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB with visiting on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The service will be held from the Christ Church (Anglican) at Pennfield NB on Saturday at 11:00 am, followed by interment at the church cemetery. In Emma’s memory, donations to the NB Extra Mural Hospital or the NB Heart and Stroke Association would be appreciated by the family.

Emery Foster Thorne
1924-2009
Peacefully, at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen NB on October 19, 2009, Mr. Emery Foster Thorne, husband of Mrs. Mary V. (Frost) Thorne of Second Falls NB. Born at Canal NB on July 16, 1924, he was a son of the late Frederick and Lois (Andrews) Thorne. A loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, in addition to his wife Mary, he is survived by one daughter, Elaine Hooper of Rothesay NB, two sons; Peter Thorne of Canal NB and Blair Thorne of Utopia NB, five grandchildren; Vanessa, Lindsey, Jodi, Jared and Spencer, five great grandchildren; Emma, Griffin, Calley, Cole and Mia, one sister, Joanne Chevarie of Canal, one sister in law, Jane Stevens of Fredericton NB, one brother in law, Eugene (Roberta) Frost of Saint John NB and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Alfred, Gerald and Kenneth, sisters; Jean Weaver, Lillian Murray and Mary Weaver and one sister in law, Karen Frost.
Prior to his retirement, Emery held many jobs which included working for the Dead River Pulp & Paper, The Dept. of Transportation Bridge Crew, or just working for himself as a Farmer or Woodsman. He had a strong work ethic that was shown in all that he did. He enjoyed spending time with his family and had a special love for his John Deere and old Cub Tractors. Emery was a member of the Second Falls Baptist Church and will be missed by his family and the many friends he has made over the years.

Waycott Memorial Chapel on Thursday at 2 pm with Pastor Reg Ward officiating followed by interment at the St. George Rural Cemetery. Visiting at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. In Emery’s memory, donations to the Charlotte County Cancer Society, or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Helen Marie Hall
1940-2009
Peacefully, surrounded by her family at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John NB on October 16, 2009, Mrs. Helen Marie (MacLaren) Hall, wife of Mr. Robert J. Hall of Pennfield NB. Born at St. Andrews NB on December 6, 1940, she was a daughter of Sarah (Beckerton) MacLaren of Petitcodiac NB and the late Frederick P. MacLaren. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, in addition to her husband Robert, she is survived by one son; Bishop Burnham “Burnie” and Leasa Hall of Groton CT, three grandchildren; Robert and Jasmin Hall of Hudson NH, Sarah Hall and her husband Neal Rubenstein of New York NY and Justin M.F. Hall of Groton CT, her mother, Sarah MacLaren of Petitcodiac NB, one sister, Ethel and Roy Bannister of Kingsclear NB, one brother, Frederick and Ronah MacLaren of Petitcodiac NB, brother in law, Alonzo and Alice Hall of St. George NB and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her father, she was predeceased by one brother, Preston MacLaren.
Prior to her retirement, Helen was employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse who worked at Fundy Hospital at Blacks Harbour NB. She was an avid musician who enjoyed to play the piano and sing and was an outstanding telecommunicater. When Helen had a moment to herself, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting or reading a good book. Helen was the president of the Charlotte County Chapter of the Association of New Brunswick Licensed Practical Nurses.
Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB from where the service will be held on Sunday from the Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel at 2:30 pm with Rev. Reg Ferris officiating followed by interment at the Pennfield Rural Cemetery. Visiting at the funeral home on Saturday from 6-9 pm. In Helen’s memory, donations to the NB Heart & Stroke Foundation or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Lawrence Pineo Richardson
1918-2009
At the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John NB on September 20, 2009, Mr. Lawrence Pineo Richardson, husband of Mrs. Roberta E. Richardson of Richardson NB. Born at Richardson on March 11, 1918, he was a son of the late Audley and F. Ruby (Stuart) Richardson. A loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, in addition to his wife, Roberta, he is survived by three sons; Brent Richardson of Fredericton NB, Roger Richardson of Stuart Town NB and Richard Richardson of Richardson NB, two grandchildren, Lucas Richardson of Stuart Town and Tonelle Richardson of Clementsport NS, one brother, George (Charlotte) Richardson of Lambert's Cove NB and two nephews; Lawrence (Kaye) Gardiner of St. Stephen NB and Paul Richardson of Fredericton. He was predeceased by one sister, Geraldine Gardiner.
Prior to his retirement, Lawrence was a self employed fisherman and was a veteran of the Second World War. He served with the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1939 until 1945 where he saw action in England, Holland, France and Germany.
Resting at the Lambert’s Cove Baptist Church, Lambert’s Cove NB, from where the service will be held on Wednesday at 2 pm with Rev. Maurice Hatfield officiating followed by interment at Mount Hope Cemetery. Visiting at the church on Tuesday from 2-4 pm. In Lawrence’s memory, donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB
