Malcolm Elmer Leslie
1935-2010
Malcolm Elmer Leslie left this world to walk on the streets of gold on February 12, 2010, peacefully at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen NB. Born at Back Bay NB on August 21, 1935 he was a son of the late Elmer and Muriel (Hooper) Leslie. A loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, in addition to his loving wife of 56 years, Irene, he is survived by his daughter, Susan Leslie of Fredericton NB, two sons; Gregory (Rhonda) Leslie of Moncton NB and Jeffrey (Faith) Leslie of Homosassa FL, two grandchildren, Andy and Vanessa both of Moncton, two sisters, Melva (Robert) Howard of Back Bay NB and Joan Leslie of L’Etang NB and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Malcolm loved nature and spending time in the outdoors. He loved his family and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
At Malcolm’s request, there will be no visitation or service. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. Anyone wishing to express their condolences or share memories of Malcolm with the family are welcome to come to the family’s home, 223 Lime Kiln Road, L’Etang NB on Saturday and Sunday from 2-4 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Arthritis Society or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Linda Anne Justason
1943-2010
At the Saint John Regional Hospital, following a lengthy illness, on February 12, 2010, Linda Anne Justason of Pennfield NB. Born at Pennfield on September 15, 1942, she was a daughter of the late Jesse and Cecile (Robichaud) Justason. A loving sister, aunt and friend, she is survived by one sister, Michelle Lajos and by one brother, Wayne Justason both of Toronto ON, two nephews; Jason Lajos of Toronto and Douglas Sinclair of Montreal QC, one niece, Erin Sinclair of Montreal and several cousins. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by one sister, Lana Sinclair.
Linda was an active member of the Pennfield Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was a gifted artist who loved to paint and make greeting cards. She will be sadly missed by her many friends and family.
At Linda’s request, there will be no visitation. Her life and memories will be celebrated at the Pennfield Baptist Church during the regular service on Sunday, February 14, 2010, at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. B. Carmen Coulton
1944-2010
With sadness, the family of Carmen Coulton wish to announce to his friends his passing at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, N.B. on Wednesday, February 17, 2010. He was born in Blacks Harbour, N.B. on June 21, 1944 and was the son of Viola (nee Ingersoll) Coulton and the late Ray Coulton. During his lifetime he worked at several locations beginning with the Cold Storage Plant in Tunaville, the Connors Bros. warehouse and at several Salmon sites in the area. He was a man who loved being on the salt water and never strayed far from it (or Charlotte County). His quick wit endeared him to both friends and family. Carmen is survived by his wife, Carolyn (nee Hatt), one son, Dan (Sherry) of Rothesay, one daughter, Shannon of Woodstock; three grandchildren, Danielle Mann, Coulton Mann and Emma Coulton and his beloved mother, Viola Coulton of St. George and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
At Carmen’s request there will be no visitation but a celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, February 20 at 2:00 pm at the Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel at the St. George Funeral Home. Friends and family are invited to a wake at his home following the memorial service. In Carmen’s memory, donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Beatrice Lillian McVicar
1925-2010
At her residence, on February 23, 2010, Mrs. Beatrice Lillian (MacVicar) McVicar, wife of the late Arthur H. McVicar of L’Etang NB. Born at L’Etete NB on July 26, 1925, she was a daughter of the late O. Leroy and Ethel (Simpson) MacVicar. A loving mother, grandmother and sister she is survived by three sons; David (Beth) McVicar of Alexander ME, Frederick McVicar of Blacks Harbour NB and Hugh McVicar of Tryon NB, six daughters; Patricia McVicar of L’Etang, Geri Johnston of Utopia NB, Debbie (Peter) Cormier of Blacks Harbour, Mary McVicar of L’Etang, Jackie (Russell) McVicar-Ferguson of St. George NB and Bessie Cooke of L’Etang, 21 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter, two grandchildren due this spring, one brother, Bruce (Bertha) MacVicar of Middleton NS, one sister, Bessie Splane of Lorneville NB and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband, Arthur, she was predeceased by one daughter, Cindy, one brother, James, four grandchildren; Jody McVicar, Michael Linton, Natasha McVicar and Louise Monks and by one son in law, Raymond Johnston.
Bea was known as a life long teacher, not only to her students but also to her children and grandchildren. She loved to spend her time going for drives around the square, baking, reading or being a seamstress for the entire family. She had a fond love for her family and her children and grandchildren were everything to her. Bea was a former member of the Fundy Bay Seniors Group and a longtime member of the St. George Roman Catholic Church. The family would like to thank all those who have helped Bea in the past, especially Daphne and Meredith, your kindness will never be forgotten.
Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB with visiting on Wednesday from 7-9 pm and on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from the St. George Roman Catholic Church on Friday at 11 am. The interment will be held at the parish cemetery in the Spring. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society, the St. George Roman Catholic Church Building Fund or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Vernon Gilmor Calder
1916-2010
Peacefully at his residence, in his 94th year, on March 5, 2010, Mr. Vernon Gilmor Calder, husband of the late Pearl M. (Call) Calder of Lords Cove NB. Born at Deer Island NB on July 29, 1916, he was the son of the late William and Helen (Stover) Cook. A loving father and grandfather he is survived by three daughters; Shirley Logan of Fredericton NB, Mary (Donald) Hickox of Charlottetown PEI and Gloria Stuart (Wayne Richardson) of Hibernia Cove NB, eight grandchildren; Valerie (Dale) Justason of Lambertville NB, Helen Martin (Steve Steiner) of Lords Cove, Sandra (John) Clark of St. George NB, Dwayne (Nicole) Richardson of Lambertville, Ritchie (Irene) Logan of Fredericton, Lisa (Michael) Gallant of Moncton NB, Sarah Hickox (Shane Hebert) and John Hickox both of Charlottetown, 10 great grandchildren, and several cousins.
Prior to his retirement, Vernon fished and was employed by HW Welch Limited for a number of years. He was an avid animal lover, especially cats, as he and his cat Jezebel were best of friends. He loved the company of family and friends and was known as a great story teller. A man of simple pleasures he also loved his Blue Cheese and smoking his pipe. The family would like to thank the homemakers who assisted Vernon, making his stay at home comfortable and possible.
Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium (755-3533), 26 Portage Street, St. George, NB from where the service will be held from The Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel on Sunday at 2 pm with Rev. Glenn Cox officiating. The interment will take place at the Fairhaven Community Cemetery, Deer Island NB following the service. Visiting at the funeral home on Saturday from 4-8 pm. In Vernon’s memory, donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Ruth "Charlene" Richardson
1938-2010
Peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John NB on March 7, 2010, Mrs. Ruth “Charlene” (Stuart) Richardson, wife of Mr. Richard A. Richardson of Richardson NB. Born at St. Stephen NB on October 17, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Rudolph Stuart and Cora (Calder)(Stuart) Fountain. A loving wife, sister, aunt and niece, in addition to her husband Richard, she is survived by one brother, Dwight (Carol) Stuart of Saint John NB, nieces; Connie (David) Hatt of Back Bay NB, Joan (Georges) Richard of Scoudic NB, Vicki Haddon of L’Etete NB and Jennifer (Peter) Lavigne of Saint John NB, nephew, Joel (Carla) Stuart of Quispamsis NB, step sister, Marilyn Taylor of Lincoln NB, sister in laws; Constance Leslie of Portland ME, Audrey Cline of St. Andrews NB and Deanna Richardson of Portland ME, one uncle, Dr. Paul (Helen) Calder of Ankeny IA, and several grand nieces and nephews and cousins. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her first husband, Wallace Dale Leslie, and sister in law, Shirley Haddon.
Prior to her retirement, Charlene worked as a secretary for the Deer Island School and numerous other employers. She was an avid reader and recently a computer enthuiast. She was a member of the Lambert Cove Baptist Church, Lambert Cove NB.
Resting at the Lamberts Cove Baptist Church, Lamberts Cove NB from where the service will be held on Thursday at 1 pm with Rev. Maurice Hatfield officiating, followed by interment at the Mount Hope Cemetery. Visiting at the church on Wednesday from 1-4 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Kidney Foundation, the Canadian Diabetes. Association are preferred by the family. John "Carrol" McGarrigle
1938-2010
Surrounded by his family, at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen NB on March 11, 2010, Mr. John “Carrol” McGarrigle, husband of Mrs. Marian (McGlinchey) McGarrigle of Pennfield NB. Born at Lake Utopia NB on October 25, 1938, he was the son of the late Richard J. and Lottie L. (Patterson) McGarrigle. A loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, in addition to his loving wife, Marian, he is survived by children; Laura Lee (David) Carrier and Stephen McGarrigle both of Pennfield, Mark (Elizabeth) McGarrigle and Wendy Sue McGarrigle (Robbie Brideau) both of Fredericton NB, five grandchildren; Spencer, Hannah, Lily, Elias and Alexia, sisters; Chrystal Nickerson of Sherwood PEI and Hazel (Val) Miles of Utopia NB, sister in law, Betty McGlinchey, a multitude of treasured friends, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Prior to his retirement, Carrol was employed as a Clerk for CP Rail, Saint John NB, for 32 years. He was an avid outdoorsman who found Lake Utopia to be his favourite place on earth. He enjoyed boating and fishing with his many family and friends. He had a special passion for the outdoors, especially gardening, where he formed special bonds with people who proudly shared the gardens bounty. Carrol was an avid handyman and a jack of all trades who was known as a hard worker. He was a very active member of Christ Church (Anglican), Pennfield NB, and carried out many functions in the church, such as Cemetery Committee, general maintenance and decorator. He was former Vice President of the Eastern Charlotte ATV Club, honorary lifetime member of the Eastern Charlotte Association for Community Living and former President and founder of the Eastern Charlotte Lions Club. Carrol loved his friends and will be remembered for his great sense of humor and all the ways he took joy in helping others every day, no matter what they needed. His greatest joy in life was having family gatherings and spending time with his cherished grandchildren.
Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium (755-3533), 26 Portage Street, St. George, NB with visiting on Saturday from 7-9 pm and on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The service will be held on Monday at 2 pm from the Christ Church (Anglican), Pennfield NB with Rev. Canon Keith Osborne officiating, followed by the interment at the church cemetery. In Carrol’s memory, donations to the Charlotte County Cancer Society, The Eastern Charlotte Association for Community Living or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
