Burton Lester Matheson
1939-2010
Unexpectedly at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John NB on January 7, 2010, Mr. Burton Lester Matheson, loving husband of Mrs. Ruth E. (Tucker) Matheson of St. George NB. Born at Back Bay NB on July 8, 1939, he was a son of Mrs. Nellie (Leslie) Matheson and the late Gerald Matheson. A loving husband, son, father, grandfather and brother, in addition to his wife Ruth, he is survived by his mother, Nellie Matheson of Blacks Harbour NB, one son, Lance (Peggy) Matheson of St. Stephen NB, two grandchildren; Scott (Sarah) Matheson and Kristyn Matheson both of St. Stephen, one great granddaughter, Rylee, three brothers, Gerald Jr. (Ethel) Matheson of New Zion NB, Garnett (Linda) Matheson of Back Bay NB and Brent (Brenda) Matheson of Canal NB, three sisters; Janet (Leo) Harmon of St. Andrews NB, Norma (Cyril) Hanley of Back Bay and Leona (Colin) Borthwick of Breadalbane NB, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Burton was predeceased by one sister, Mary French.
Burton served 16 years with the Saint John City Police Force until his health forced him to retire. During his service in Saint John he rode Mounted Patrol in Rockwood Park. He was a member of the Gateway Cathedral, St. Stephen NB, and loved animals, especially dogs and horses and he had a passion for motorcycles.
Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium (755-3533), 26 Portage Street, St. George, NB with visiting at the funeral home on Friday from 7-9 and Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The service will be held from the Seaview Full Gospel Church in Back Bay NB on Sunday at 2PM. Interment will be in the St. George Rural Cemetery
in the spring. In Burton’s memory, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
Hilda Eileen Babineau
1938-2010
Peacefully at her residence on January 13, 2010, Mrs. Hilda Eileen (Boyd) Babineau, wife of Mr. Leon J. Babineau of Pocologan NB. Born at Pocologan on September 26, 1938, she was a daughter of the late Layton and Mildred (Campbell) Boyd. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, in addition to her husband Leon, she is survived by two sons; Thomas (Darlene) Murphy of Blacks Harbour NB and Joseph (Orinda) Babineau of Pennfield NB, two daughters; Cathy (David) Dugas of Blacks Harbour NB and Andrea (David) Christiansen of Alberta, nine grandchildren, two great great granddaughters, one brother, Terry (Laurie) Boyd of Bonny River NB, one sister, Mary (Ronald) Graham of Saint John NB, her faithful companion Sam and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by one sister Margaret Ryan and by one brother, Leonard Boyd.
Prior to her retirement, Hilda worked at Connor’s Bros. as a packer. She had a fond love for Bluegrass Music and was a member of the NB Bluegrass Association. She was also a member of the Valley Cruisers Car Club and enjoyed spending time on her computer working at her Farmville.
Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium (755-3533), 26 Portage Street, St. George, NB from where the service will be held from The Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel on Friday at 11 am with Rev. Reg Ward officiating. The interment will take place at the Pennfield Rural Cemetery
in the Spring. Visiting at the funeral home will be held on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. In Hilda’s memory, donations to the NB Lung Association or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
Hazen Eugene Deveau
1927-2010
At the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen NB on January 4, 2010, Mr. Hazen Eugene Deveau, husband of the late Mrs. Rosaline M. Deveau of Caithness NB. Born at Mascarene NB on October 28, 1927, he was a son of the late Alfred and Gertrude (Wilcox) Deveau. A loving brother, uncle and special friend, he is survived by one sister, Shirley (Doug) Raaflaub of St. Andrews NB, several nieces, nephews, cousins, three sister in laws and countless friends. In addition to his loving wife, Rosaline, he was predeceased by three brothers; Leonard, Sherman and Leo.
Hazen was known as being friendly and had a smile for everyone he met. He was an avid collector and enjoyed being out on the water boating. He will be sadly missed by his many friends and his family.

Averil Lorena Justason
1927-2010
At the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen NB on January 2, 2010, Mrs. Averil Lorena (Wright) Justason, wife of the late Edwin W. Justason of Pennfield NB. Born at Beaver Harbour NB on May 26, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Fenwick and Lulu (Scott) Wright. A loving mother, grandmother and sister, she is survived by three daughters; Geraldine (James) Rogers of Saint John NB, Marsha (Daniel) Duncan of Oakville ON and Denise (Wayne) Stewart of Pennfield, seven grandchildren; Darren Rogers, Jaime (John) Wilson, Greg Simms, Ryan (Jo Ann) Simms, Dustin Stewart, Aaron Stewart and Kyle Stewart, one brother, Conrad (Leslie) Wright of Pocologan NB, three sisters; Maxine Allaby of Saint John, Norma Boyd and Brenda Barrett both of British Columbia and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by brothers; Wallace, Phillip, Carroll and Morton and by sisters; Gertrude and Arletta.
Prior to her retirement, Averil worked at the Fundy Hospital at Blacks Harbour NB as an Admitting Clerk. She was a former member of the Royal Canadian Legion Auxilliary Branch # 39 and the Brunswick Curling Club both at Blacks Harbour. She was an avid golfer, curler and loved painting and doing crafts.

Emerson John Jordan
1941-2009
Peacefully at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen NB on December 27, 2009, Mr. Emerson John Jordan, husband of Mrs. Edith (Stevens) Jordan of Second Falls NB. Born at Bonny River NB on March 23, 1941, he was a son of the late Percy and Eunice (Goodrich) Jordan. A loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, in addition to his wife, Edith, he is survived by one son, Terry Jordan (Madeline Hanley) of Second Falls NB, three daughters; Tania Jordan (Henry Sargefield) of Back Bay NB, Brenda-Lea (James) Montgomery of Devon AB and Crystal Lefaut(Shawn Roles) of Napanee ON, 4.5 grandchildren, three great grandchildren, two sisters; Clara (Charles) Chambers and Alice (David) Baldwin both of Second Falls, one uncle; Aldon Goodrich, one aunt; Rhoda Carson and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Prior to his retirement, Emerson was a carpenter by trade who worked at many job sites, including the construction of Point Lepreau. He served a brief time in the Army as a Peacekeeper with his old friend, Freddy the Horse Thief. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish and guide with his best buddies, Russ, Buster, Hughie, Igor and Vanna, and with his good friends of Lee Settlement Farm who made their home feel like a second home to Emerson and of course, his best pal Buddy. Emerson was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #40 in St. George NB.

Warren Martin Beney
1954-2010
Unexpectedly at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John NB on February 1, 2010, Mr. Warren Martin Beney of Saint John NB. Born at Blacks Harbour NB on March 15, 1954, he was a son of the late Warren O. and Helen “Nellie” M. (Bradford) Beney. A loving brother, uncle and nephew, he is survived by seven brothers; Winnfield (Cheryl) of St. Stephen NB, Richard of Beaver Harbour NB, John (Tina) of Back Bay NB, Danny of Saint John, Kenny of Blacks Harbour, William (Bonita) of Utopia NB and Gerald of Saint John, three sisters; Carole (Larry) Hanley of Back Bay, Barbara Joncas of Saint John and Susan (Marc) Robichaud of Fredericton NB, one uncle, Grovenor (Caroline) Bradford of Fredericton NB, one aunt, Lola Milbury of Ontario and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one brother, Eric, and by one sister, Margaret Chevarie.
Warren had worked for Billy’s Seafood Company in Saint John, and loved music. He will be missed by his family and many friends.

Alice Marie Therese Dicentes
1931-2010
Peacefully at the Fundy Nursing Home, Blacks Harbour NB on February 7, 2010, Alice Marie Therese (Ouellette) Dicentes of Blacks Harbour. Born at St. Charles NB on April 1, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Fidele and Catherine (Daigle) Ouellette. A loving mother, grandmother and sister, she is survived by two daughters; Yvette (Larry) Scott of Blacks Harbour, Jeannette Richard of Saint John NB, four grandchildren; Bambi (Jayson) Leavitt and Jamie Scott (Nicole Blanchard) both of Edmonton AB, Clayton (Trish) Richard of Medicine Hat AB and Cindy O’Neill (Andrew Smith) of Saint John, great grandchildren; Samantha, Katie and Carter Richard all of Medicine Hat, Tanner Leavitt and Ethan Lloyd both of Edmonton AB, two sisters; Suzanne Babineau of Richibucto NB and Rosalie (Roger) Chase of Pennfield NB, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her first husband, Vincent Arseneault, she was predeceased by six brothers; Emilien, Gerard, Joseph, Albert, Joachin and Jean-Paul, and by five sisters; Marie Anne, Rev. Sister Angele, Lydia, Rosalie, and Suzanne in infancy.
Prior to her retirement, Alice worked for over 30 years for Farber’s Leather Factory in Massachusetts. She was an avid bowler who loved playing Bingo. She attended Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, Blacks Harbour NB.
Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB with visiting on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from the Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, Blacks Harbour on Wednesday at 11 am. The interment will take place at the parish cemetery in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
