Lillian Doris (Hatt) Thorne
1920-2007
Unexpectedly, at the residence of her daughter in Seeley’s Cove NB on July 31, 2007, Mrs. Lillian Doris (Hatt) Thorne, wife of the late Mr. Arthur Blair Thorne of St. George NB. Born in L’Etang NB on March 7, 1920 she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Ida Mae (Leavitt) Hatt.
A loving mother, grandmother and sister she is survived by four sons; Paul (Phyllis) Thorne of Saint John NB, Ian (Loren) Thorne of Vancouver BC, Charles (Rosemary) of Utopia NB and Jimmy (Trish) Thorne also of Vancouver BC, four daughters; Susan (Gary) Chambers and Barbara Justason both of Pennfield NB, Dorothy (Bert) Evans of Utopia NB and Beulah (Dale) Guthrie of Seeley’s Cove, 19 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, one brother; Henry Hatt of L’Etang, two sisters; Annie (Alan) Whirty of St. Stephen NB and Alberta (Hilton) Hanley of Back Bay NB, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Lillian was predeceased by 16 brothers and sisters, one son in law; Dennis Justason and mother in law, Carrie Thorne.
Lillian enjoyed the company of her friends and family. She was an avid bird watcher and loved spending time in her rocker. She was a member of the St. George Baptist Church.
Resting at the St. George Funeral Home and Crematorium (755-3533) 26 Portage St. St. George NB, with visiting on Wednesday from 7-9 pm and on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The service will be held on Friday at 2:00 pm from the St. George Baptist Church, followed by interment at the St. George Rural Cemetery. In Lillian’s memory donations to the NB Alzheimer’s Society, NB Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Dennis Wade Cooke
The unexpected passing of Mr. Dennis Wade Cooke occurred on Wednesday, August 8, 2007 in Kitchener Ontario. Born in Blacks Harbour NB on March 24, 1971 he was a son of Wendell Cooke of Saint John NB and Lorraine (Leavitt) Cooke of Sussex Corner NB. A beloved son, brother and nephew he is survived by his parents, one brother; Adrian Cooke of Moncton NB, beloved nephew; Tyler Cooke of Moncton, and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He will also be sadly missed by his good friend, Norman Fowler of Sussex NB and all who knew him. Dennis was predeceased by his paternal grandparents; Arnold and Lois Cooke, and his maternal grandparents; Webster and Margaret Leavitt.
Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium (755-3533), 26 Portage Street, St. George, NB from where the service will be held from The Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel on Wednesday at 2 pm with Rev. Gordon Cooke officiating. The interment will follow at the St. George Rural Cemetery. Visiting at the funeral home on Monday from 7-9 pm and on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. In Dennis’ memory donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Frederick (Ted) Joseph Jack
1935-2007
Unexpectedly at The Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen NB, on July 27, 2007, Mr. Frederick (Ted) Joseph Jack, husband of Mrs. Glenna (Cathline) Jack of Utopia NB. Born in Pennfield, NB on May 8, 1935 he was the son of the late G. Alex and Annie (Tatton) Jack. A loving husband, father and grandfather, he will be sadly missed by his wife of 48 years, Glenna, one daughter; Susan Jack (Stephane Bolduc) of Saint John NB, three sons; Peter (Debbie) Jack of Moncton NB, David (Wendy) Jack of Halifax NS and Jamie Jack (Stacie Field) of Maces Bay NB and his three grandchildren: Miranda, Aaron and Alex.
Ted and his family lived in Saint John for many years, where he was employed as a manager of NB Tel. Following his retirement, Ted moved back to his boyhood home in Pennfield where he grew and sold Christmas Trees, a hobby that he and his father began in 1967. Always active in his community, Ted was a president of the NB Chapter of the CNIB, and a past warden of St. Mark’s Anglican Church in St. George.
Resting at St. Mark’s Anglican Church in St. George NB from where the service will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 am followed by interment at the Christ Church (Anglican) Cemetery in Pennfield. Visitation at the church will be on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. In Ted’s memory donations to the MS Society of Canada, St. Mark’s Anglican Church Rebuilding Fund or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Merlin Edward Frost
1919-2008
Peacefully at the Fundy Nursing Home in Blacks Harbour NB on January 16th, 2008, Mr. Melin Edward Frost, husband of the late Mrs. Marjorie (Bent) Frost, formerly of Bonny River NB. Born in Bonny River on August 6th, 1919, he was a son of the late Gorham and Mary (Kinney) Frost. A loving grandfather and brother he is survived by five grandchildren; Jason (Stacey) Frost and Lisa (Terry) Leslie both of Bonny River, Paul Frost (Christine) of Saint John NB, Jodi (Andrew) Giverson of Kingston Peninsula NB and Crystal Frost of Alberta, 11 great grandchildren, one sister; Berla Campbell of St. George NB, two daughter in laws; Ann Garnett of Saint John and Marilyn Frost of Bonny River and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his wife he was predeceased by two sons; Merlin Jr. “Sonny” and Paul, two brothers; Hazen and Douglas, two sisters; Nellie Lee and Doris Reardon.
Merlin was a veteran of World War II, serving with North Nova Scotia Highlanders overseas where he was injured in the battle of Normandy. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and trapping. He was a well known hunting guide for many years and enjoyed gardening. Prior to his retirement he was a school bus driver and worked for the Department of Transportation.
Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB with visiting on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The service will be held from the Second Falls Baptist Church on Friday at 2:00 pm with Rev. Wayne Culberson officiating. The interment will take place at the church cemetery at the spring. In memory of Merlin, donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 40 will hold a Tribute Service at the funeral home on Thursday at 7:00 pm.

Kathryn Imogene Camick
At the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen NB on January 20th, 2008, following a period of failing health, Mrs. Kathryn Imogene (Rogerson) Camick wife of Mr. Howard Elwood Camick of Leonardville NB. Born in Leonardville on July 2nd, 1928, she was a daughter of the late John and Winnifred (Lambert) Rogerson. A loving wife to Howard, devoted mother to Danny Camick and Carl (Anne) Camick, both of Leonardville, and Glenda (Garnett) Green of Fairhaven NB, proud grandmother of Brendan (Colleen) Green of Leonardville and Katrina (Tim) Martin of Richardson NB, great grandchildren; Jared and Ashley Green and Hayden Martin, three sister in laws; Hazel Justason and Sadie Arbeau both of Richardson and Lovejoy Camick of Leonardville and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by two brothers; James and David Rogerson, one sister Charlotte Brown and one nephew James Brown.
Kathryn loved and devoted her life to her family. She loved cooking and adored children. She will be sadly missed by her family and all who knew her.
Resting at the Leonardville Church of Christ from where the service will be held on Wednesday at 2:00 pm with Rev. Geoff Conley officiating with interment at the Fairhaven Community Cemetery at Calder’s Head. Visiting at the church on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. In Kathryn’s memory, donations to the Charlotte County Hospital Palliative Care Unit or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. James Eugene McLanaghan
1920-2008
Peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John NB on January 22nd, 2008, Mr. James Eugene McLanaghan, husband of Bessie (Justason) McLanaghan of Pennfield NB. Born in St. George NB on September 13, 1920, he was a son of the late Samuel and Carolyn (Gillis) McLanaghan. A loving husband, father, grandfather and brother he is survived by his wife, Bessie, two sons; Eugene (Lois) McLanaghan of Pennfield and Norman McLanaghan of Kingston ON, one granddaughter; Alison McLanaghan of Calgary AB, one sister; Rhonda Justason of St. Andrews NB, one daughter in law; Deborah Larson of Pocologan NB and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by one brother, Fred McLanaghan and by one sister, Helen Gaudet.
Prior to his retirement, Jim was employed by the NB Department of Transportation for 18 years, and prior to that worked a number of years for St. George Pulp and Paper. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved to travel after he retired. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with The R.C.E.M.E. Corps in England, France, Belgium and Holland. Jim was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 40 in St. George as well as a member and past patron of the OES Granite Chapter # 15 and past master and member of the St. George Masonic Lodge # 12 F&AM for over 50 years.
Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB on Wednesday from 7-9 pm and on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The service will be held at Pennfield Baptist Church on Friday at 2:00 pm with Rev. Grant Alcorn officiating. The interment will be held at the St. George Rural Cemetery in the spring. In Jim’s memory donations to the Charlotte County Cancer Society, the NB Heart & Stroke Foundation or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be greatly appreciated by the family. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 40 will hold a tribute service on Wednesday at 7:00 pm and the St. George Masonic Lodge and OES will hold their respected tribute services at 7:00 and 7:15 pm on Thursday.

Maynard Eugene Justason
1938-2008
Peacefully at his home in Canal, NB on January 24, 2008, Mr. Maynard Eugene Justason, loving husband of Gail (Waite) Justason, the son of the late Emery and Margaret (Leavitt) Justason, was born in Black's Harbour, NB on May ll, l938.
He attended school in Black's Harbour and in his early years worked at Connors Bros. Retail store. Later he was self employed and owned and operated several businesses on Pennfield Corner including a grocery, furniture store, pool hall and recycling centre. An avid hunter, fisherman all his life, he was also a member of Black's Harbour and St. George Curling Clubs.
Besides his wife Gail, survived by two sons, Bill (Tracy) Justason, Blaine, WA, Brad Justason (Nathalie Page), St. George, NB, one daughter Sari Justason (Jeff Stewart), Pennfield, NB, Grandchildren Taylor and Cassidy Justason, two sisters, Pauline (late Bernard) Tucker, Saint John, NB, Carolyn (Ken) Hooper, Black's Harbour, NB, one aunt: Roberta Dick of L’etete NB and several nieces and nephews.
Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium (755-3533), 26 Portage Street, St. George NB from where the service will be held on Sunday at 2PM with Rev. Keith Osborne and Canon David Genge Officiating. Interment will be at Christ Church (Anglican) Cemetery in the spring. Visiting at the funeral home on Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Special thanks to Dr. John Mowatt and staff of SJRH and sister Carolyn and Ken Hooper for their care and dedication during Maynard's illness. In lieu of flowers donations to the Charlotte County Cancer Society or a charity of one's choice would be appreciated.

Albert Doran Hooper
1931-2007
Unexpectedly, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John NB on December 31st, 2007, Mr. Albert Doran Hooper, husband of Mrs. Mildred Gertrude (Miner) Hooper of Pennfield NB. Born in Blacks Harbour NB on January 7, 1931, he was a son of the late Emery and Della (Hanley) Hooper. A loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, he is survived by his wife, Mildred, one son; Robert Doran (Anne Grace) Hooper of Little Ridge NB, four daughters; Dorothy (Roland) Wilcox of Bocabec NB, Deborah Larson (Guy) of Pocologan NB, Marilyn (Ray) Lewis of Blacks Harbour and Shirley (Wayne) Waite of Pennfield NB, nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren, four brothers; Harold (Jean) Hooper of Utopia NB, Edward Hooper of Winchester ON, Joe (Barb) Hooper of Sussex NB and Richard (Lorraine) Hooper of Pennfield, two sisters; Audrey McLeese (Vance) of Winchester ON, and Thelma Scott (Carl) of Toronto ON, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Caitlin Lewis and two brothers, Clyde and Carroll Hooper.
Albert began working in Ontario at Pilkington Glass and with the Toronto Transit Commission prior to moving home to Pennfield where he began work as a school bus driver for 17 years, retiring in 1991. Following his retirement, Albert enjoyed being a handyman and operating his snow removal business. He was a hard worker who loved bowling and hunting and was a great outdoorsmen. In his quiet times he enjoyed working on his truck and traveling to Calais ME for his weekly trips. In the mornings he could be found with the “morning club” at Hoopers Convenience, in Blacks Harbour, discussing the daily news and world events.
Resting at the Wesleyan Church in Blacks Harbour from where the service will be held on Friday at 2:00 pm with Rev. Bruce Cheney and Pastor Gordon Cooke officiating. The interment will be held at the St. George Rural Cemetery at a later date. Visiting at the church on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. In Albert’s memory donations to the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation, Charlotte County Cancer Society or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB
