ANTOINETTE GALLANT
1935-2009
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Antoinette Gallant at the Georges-L-Dumont hospital, on June 26th after a lengthy illness.
Born in Lagacéville, she was the daughter of the late James Richard and the late Edmée Richard (née Savoie).
Antroinette tried her hand at teaching for two years at the local school. She then moved to Richibucto, where, with her dignified demeanor and her charming personality, she quickly won the hearts of those she met. She soon became an active member of her new community, joining the Catholic Women’s League (C.W.L.) in 1974 as the club’s organizer, a position that she held for 30 years. At the request of a local parishioner, Antoinette also joined the Golden Age Club where she acted as secretary. She was equally involved with her church. There, she often offered her help in administration, read scriptures during mass, and distributed communion.
When she had time to spare, Antoinette’s fingers worked nimbly at knitting or needle point. Her family and friends were constantly showered with her beautiful creations. A perfectionist in her crafts, Antoinette was proud that some of her work won prizes at the Sainte-Marie Agricultural fair.
Antoinette will be sadly missed by Livain, as well as their six children: Blair (Marguerite) Orléans, Ontario, Paulette (John) Givran, Rexton, Michel “Mike” (Nicole) Aldouane, Marc (Keitha) Rexton, Carolle (Louis) Arsenault, Mundleville and Rhéa Gallant, Shédiac and a son-in-law: Reggie LeBlanc, Dieppe.
