Howard Lockhart
(Born Oct. 17, 1921 - March 6, 2009)
LOCKHART - The passing of Howard Lockhart, age 87 years, of Stoughton, Saskatchewan, occurred at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Estevan, on March 6, 2009.
Howard Edwin Lockhart was the son of Lewis Moore Lockhart and Ida Adelaide Lockhart, nee Woodbury, formerly of Griffin, Saskatchewan.
Howard was predeceased by his sisters Edna and Irene, his brothers Fred and Earl and his daughter, Linda May.
He is survived by his son, James (Jim) Lewis Lockhart of Claresholm, Alberta; Jim’s wife Diane; their children: Michael (Mike) Lockhart and Danielle Aimee Slettede; and by two great-grandsons, Joel James and Karsen Slettede.
Howard will be fondly remembered by them; by his friends from the Weyburn, Griffin, Stoughton and Arcola districts; by those nieces and nephews and other family members who knew him and by his very dear friend and caregiver, Claire Hall, of Stoughton.
Claire’s caring and enduring friendship were of special importance to Howard and all family members offer their gratitude and heartfelt condolences to her.
Howard lived and farmed in the Weyburn district for many years.
He then moved to Stoughton to be near his daughter, residing there until his passing.
A defining moment of Howard’s life was his enlistment for overseas military service.
He was wounded after spending an uninterrupted year on the frontline in Italy, and was forced to return to home before the war ended, but not before he and his fellow soldiers had played a vital role in the campaign which led to the liberation of that country during W.W. II.
Funeral services will be held in Grace United Church, Stoughton, Saskatchewan on Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. with Deborah Laforet officiant.
Friends and family are invited to a luncheon in the Stoughton Legion Hall immediately following the service.
Interment of cremated remains in the Griffin Municipal Cemetery
will follow the luncheon.
In lieu of flowers, those so wishing may make donations to the St. Joseph’s Hospital Ladies’ Auxiliary, Estevan, in Howard’s memory.

Julie Louise Nijman
(Born July 3, 1930 - March 3, 2009)
Nijman - Julie Louise passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at the age of 78 years.
She was predeceased by her husband Wies Nijman; parents Louis and Theresa Beatch; step-mother Albertine Rorke; son-in-law Ray Jardine; brother Elmer Beatch; sister-in-law Anne Styranka; brothers-in-law Thys Nijman, Ed Schille and Walter Haubrich.
Julie will be lovingly remembered by her children: Gary Nijman (Sharon Urquhart) Surrey, B.C., Jan Nijman (Gwen) Estevan, Debbie Paiement (Mike) Regina, Mike Nijman (Penny) Regina, Peter Nijman (Margo) Regina; grandchildren: Deanna Tarnes (Chris), Scott Nijman, Terri Jardine, Kelly Jardine, Kevin Jardine (Megan Birdsell), Danielle Jardine, Kelsey Nijman and Sean Nijman; great grandchildren: Emily and Jordyn Tarnes; sisters: Claire Haubrich and Jeannette Wickstrand (Leonard); brothers: Henry Beatch and Lou Beatch (Lucie); sisters-in-law: Susan Beatch, Doreen Nijman and Nellie Schille; brothers-in-law: Ray Styranka and Jan Nijman (Charlotte).
A Prayer Service will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2009 at 7:30 p.m. in the chapel of Hall Funeral Services with Doug Third officiating.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, March 6, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in St. John the Baptist R.C. Church, Estevan, SK by Rev. Joel Rama.
Interment will follow in the Estevan City Cemetery.

Sophie Sobchuk

SOPHIE SOBCHUK (Nee Koszman) (1916 – 2009)
Gently and peacefully, Sophie passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at St. Joseph’s Special Care Home. Estevan, SK in her 92nd year.
Predeceased by her husband John; daughter Margaret Ordahl (David deceased); her parents, Dmytro Koszman and Mary Oshust; sister Kathryn Dedora (John deceased); brothers, Peter (Mary), Paul (Helen deceased), Ted (Bertha).
Sophie is survived and will be missed by her daughter Betty (Mike) McAuliffe, Almonte, ON and son Donald Sobchuk, Torquay, SK; grandchildren, Rennie, Angel, Jennifer and Corey and eight great grandchildren; sister Anne (Bill deceased) Chychrun, London, ON; brother William (Anna), Weyburn, SK; sisters-in-law Bertha Koszman and Mary Koszman; niece Christine Herlick (Frank deceased) and many other nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. from St. John the Baptist R.C. Church, Estevan, by Rev. Callistus Ibe.
Interment will follow in Holy Family Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Tribune, SK.
