Ralph Zimmerman
(Born March 4, 1916 - February 23, 2009)
ZIMMERMAN – On Monday, February 23, 2009, Ralph Zimmerman, late of Stoughton, SK, passed away in Estevan, SK at the age of 92 years. Ralph was predeceased by his parents Anton and Rose and his loving wife Violet; siblings: Florence (Barney) Styre, Isabelle (John) Soroko, Frank (Alma) Zimmerman, Peter (Sadie) Zimmerman, Pauline (Roy) McGillicky, Tony (Gertrude) Zimmerman and George Zimmerman; as well as brothers in law: Gavin Mohns, Roger Blain and Gordon McKnight. He will be sadly missed by his daughter Phyllis (Nick) Ksenych; grandchildren: Terry Lynn (Wayne) Beutler; Todd Nick (Lore) Ksenych; great grandchildren: Eric and Andrea Beutler, Cody and Colton Ksenych; sisters: Edith Mohns, Eleanor (Gilbert) Vipond, Gertie Blain and Caroline McKnight.
A Funeral Service for Ralph will be held on Friday, February 27, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. from Grace United Church, Stoughton, with Deborah Laforet officiating. Interment will take place at a later date in Souris Valley Memorial Gardens, Estevan. Those so wishing may make donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan in Ralph’s memory. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Monica Dayman and Dustin Hall of Hall Funeral Services, Estevan.
Marion Rose Dornian
(December 8, 1927 - February 19, 2009)
DORNIAN - Marion Rose Dornian, nee Stark was born on December 8, 1927 to the late Thomas and Matilda Stark. She was the eldest of 6 children and grew up in the Estevan District.
On October 24, 1949 Marion married Paul Dornian, son to the late Steven and Flora Dornian. The couple farmed in the Outram Disrict and were blessed with 9 healthy children. She was a devoted wife and loving mother. The family moved to Estevan in 1968 where Marion was a tireless employee at various places.
She was a phenomenal cook and baker and accomplished at crochet and knitting. Many of her friends and family were lucky enough to receive some of her beautifully made hats and doilies.
Marion's husband Paul, passed away on February 18, 1989 and she continued to always take care of the loved ones in her life. A devoted grandmother, Marion always made time for her 19 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
She enjoyed collecting Seraphina angels and beautiful porcelain birds, flowers and place settings. She also loved to watch baseball and was a big fan of the Toronto Blue Jays.
Marion fell ill in July 2008 and unfortunately had to give up her position at Richard and Denmar Court in order to care for her health with the support of her friends, children and grandchildren.
Marion Dornian was a beautiful person who touched all of our lives with her kind ways and loving heart. She is loved for so many things, but, most of all for these:
Her readiness to lend a hand, her eagerness to please, her smile, her warmth, her tenderness, her way of spreading cheer. She's loved for all of these and more each day through the years.
Marion passed away in Estevan on Thursday, February 19, 2009 at the age of 81 years. She is survived by her nine children: Carol (Dennis) Schick, Larry (Suzanne) Dornian, Gregg Dornian (David Drysdale), Betty (Don) McAuley, Mary (Bob) Foster, David Dornian (Rose Steinke), Keith Dornian, Vernon Dornian and Ron Dornian; 19 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; one sister and two brothers. She was predeceased by her husband Paul Dornian; two sisters, Bertha Whitman and Irene Orser and her parents, Tom and Matilda Stark.
A private family celebration of Marion’s life was held in the chapel of Hall Funeral Services, Estevan, on Monday, February 23, 2009 with Mr. Doug Third officiating. Interment followed in Souris Valley Memorial Gardens, Estevan. Honorary Pallbearers were Dennis Schick, Bob Foster, Don McAuley, Kevin Dornian, Michael Dornian and Corey Dornian.
Those so wishing may make donations to the Allan Blair Cancer Centre, 4101 Dewdney Avenue, Regina, Saskatchewan, S4T 7T1 in Marion’s memory. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Dustin Hall of Hall Funeral Services, Estevan.
James Daniel “Jim” Rose
(Jan. 14, 1946 - June 5, 2008)
ROSE – On Thursday, June 5, 2008, James Daniel “Jim” Rose, late of Redvers, SK, passed away in Redvers at the age of 62 years. Jim was predeceased by his parents, James and Mary. He is survived by his special friend Irene Hortness of Redvers, SK; son Dwain Rose (Sherrie Fallowfield) of Brownvale, AB; daughters, Arlene (Doyle) Kamieniecki of Brownvale and Marlene Rose (Jason Brown) of Fairview, AB; grandchildren, Derrick, Daylene, Marley, Raylene, Kaylin and Lane; brothers, Henry and Dave; sisters, Cecilia and Betty, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A Come & Go Tea in Celebration of Jim’s Life will be held on Monday, June 9, 2008 from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the Golden Age Centre in Redvers, SK. In keeping with Jim’s wishes, cremation will take place, and his
cremated remains will be interred on the grave of his grandfather, William Rose. Those so wishing may make donations to the Redvers & District Community Health Foundation, Inc., in Jim’s memory. Funeral arrangements are in care of Boire Funeral Home, Redvers (452-6020).
Lloyd Clifford Sovdi
(Sept. 28, 1924 - June 12, 2008)
SOVDI – On Thursday, June 12, 2008, Lloyd Clifford Sovdi, late of Outram, SK, passed away in Estevan, SK at the age of 83 years. Lloyd was predeceased by his parents, Holly and Marie Sovdi; brothers, Arden Sovdi, Marvel Sovdi and Earl Sovdi; sisters, Lenora Rosenthal, Elsie Erickson and Florence Sovdi. He is survived by his loving family: wife Audrey of Outram, SK; children, Arlice (Dennis) Adderley of Smoothstone Lake, SK, Lynn (Garry) Tedford of Estevan, SK, Leslie (Val) Sovdi of Edmonton, AB, Arleen (Bruce) Schoff of Paris, France and Lavern Sovdi of Estevan; grandchildren, Blake (Tammy) Dreher of Estevan, Julie (Todd) Waselinchuk of Manor, SK, Les (Mel) Adderley of Taylor, B.C., Launa (Dale) Coyne of Estevan, Tara Tedford of Estevan, Jerrod Tedford of Estevan and Holly (Becky) Sovdi of Edmonton; 10 great grandchildren; brothers, Reuben Sovdi of Torquay, SK and Ordeen Sovdi of Surrey, B.C., as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 15, 2008, 3:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., from the chapel of Boire Funeral Home, Estevan. A Time of Remembrance Luncheon will be held on Monday, June 16, 2008, 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. from the Estevan Church of God Auditorium (1920 Wellock Road, Estevan, SK). A private family interment will take place in Souris Valley Memorial Gardens, Estevan. FORD ALEXANDER McELHERAN
(July 3, 1928 - April 21, 2009)
Ford McElheran passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family in the Arcola Health Centre on Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at the age of 80 years. Ford was predeceased by his wife Donelda; grandson Chris Dechaine; parents, Alec and Donalda; brother Ambrose and sister Betty, as well as numerous sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. He is survived by his loving family: children, Wendy (Gilbert) Dechaine of Lampman, SK, Rick McElheran of Kitchener, ON, Laurie (Dennis) Fornwald of Lampman and Shelley (Todd) Fornwald of Lampman; grandchildren, Jody and Chad Dechaine, Billi McElheran (Christopher Fleck), Jesse, Keely and Sydney McElheran, Theron, Taylor and Landon Fornwald, Brendon and Angela Fornwald and great granddaughter Hayley Dechaine; sisters, Hilda Meldrun and Ruby (Russel) Presley, as well as numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, April 26, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. from St. Andrew’s United Church, Arcola, with Rev. Michelle Moore officiating. Interment will follow in the Arcola Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arcola Hospital Equipment Fund or Prairie Place Hall, Arcola, in Ford’s memory. The family is being assisted by Hall Funeral Services, Estevan (634-8233).
