Naomi Jennie Nielsen Olsen
(October 8, 1925 - November 11, 2008)
OLSEN – Naomi Jennie Nielsen (1925 – 2008). Naomi was born in Moorhead, Iowa on October 8, 1925. She was the fifth of nine children born to Reverend Anton and Kristine Skanderup. She taught school in Alberta, Saskatchewan and New Brunswick until she married Ahlmann Olsen on October 26, 1949. Naomi and Ahlmann raised three children. She passed away in Redvers, Saskatchewan on November 11, 2008, at the age of 83 years, with her family at her side.
Naomi was predeceased by her husband, Ahlmann; her parents, Anton and Kristine Skanderup; mother and father-in-law Arnold and Agnes Olsen; her sister Ruth Colberns; brothers Verne, Milton, Leo and Clifford Skanderup; sisters-in-law, Ruth Skanderup, Elsie Skanderup and Cora Olsen; brothers-in-law Niels Eskesen and Ben Colbens; nephews, David Pedersen, Keith Colbens, Clark Colbens, Lloyd Colbens and Andrew Grane; nieces Kay Hayworth and Carli Hayworth.
Naomi is survived by one daughter, Elaine (Paul) Miko; two sons, Dennis (Karen) Olsen, and Edwin (Pat) Olsen; seven grandchildren, Neil Miko, Jeff (Leslie) Miko, Laura (Casey) Ohlmann, Kelly Derbyshire, Katie (Darrin) Steenbruggen, Terri-Ann (Dwayne) Toms, Kelly Olsen (Amber McKinnon); eight great grandchildren, Madison Ohlmann, Courtney, Trisha, Allison & Rheanne Toms; Cody and Crysten Steenbruggen, and Sophie McKinnon Olsen; one sister, Agnete Eskesen; two brothers Alvin (Martha) Skanderup, Verner (Connie) Skanderup; one brother-in-law, Carl Olsen; five sisters-in-law, Evelyn Skanderup, Agnethe Skanderup, Esther Olsen, Eleanora (Finn) Grane, Lilllian (Bendt) Pedersen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
VISITATION will be held on Friday, November 14, 2008, 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., from the chapel of Hall Funeral Services, Redvers. A CELEBRATION OF NAOMI’S LIFE will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. from Dannevirke Lutheran Church, Redvers, with Rev. Cornelia van Bentum officiating. Interment will follow in Dannevirke Cemetery, Redvers. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Naomi, may be made to the Redvers & District Community Health Foundation Inc. or the Perpetual Care Fund at Dannevirke Lutheran Church. Albert Roussel
(October 16, 1920 – May 7, 2008)
Albert passed away peacefully in the Veteran’s Wing of the Wascana Rehabilitation Centre in Regina on Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at the age of 87 years.
Born fourth oldest in a family of eight to Trefflé and Sidonie Roussel, Albert grew up on his parents’ farm near Bellegarde, Saskatchewan. After serving as a proud member of the 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion during World War II, Albert raised his family, farmed, and was an active member of the Bellegarde community. He instilled a strong work ethic in his children and always put his family first. He was a quiet man, who exuded strength of character and dignity. After retiring to Redvers, Albert continued to enjoy travelling South for many years.
Albert will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 59 years, Micheline; son Ivan (Jeannette), grandchildren Tracy (Pat) and Sheldon; son Ronald (Catherine), grandchildren Christopher and Mathew; son Marc (Deb), grandchildren Kari, Candice (Jared), and Michael; daughter Ella (Dave) and grandchildren Dominic and Gabrielle along with great grandchildren Quinn, Rhys, Pierce and Madeline. Born fourth oldest in a family of eight to Treffle and Sidonie Roussel, Albert is also survived by sisters Marie, Claire, Simone and brother Tony as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A FUNERAL MASS will be celebrated at Canadian Martyrs R.C. Church, 1932 – 1st Avenue North, Regina, SK on Monday, May 12, 2008 at 2:00 p.m., by Rev. Eugene Schaffer. Private Interment at a later date. Donations in memory of Albert may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Funeral arrangements are in care of Boire Funeral Home, Estevan & Redvers (634-8233).
Delbert Clarence Quaife
(April 20, 1918 - September 9, 2008)
QUAIFE – Delbert Clarence. Delbert Quaife passed away in Estevan, SK on Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at the age of 90 years. Delbert was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Clara Quaife; wife Annie Quaife and all of his brothers and sisters. He is survived by his sons, James Quaife of Victoria, B.C. and Rolan (Audrey) Quaife of Estevan, SK; three granddaughters, Camie LaHoise of Victoria, Akihito Mikasa Quaife of Victoria and Amanda (Aaron) Black of Brandon, MB; sisters-in-law, Pauline Thomas of P.E.I. and Louise Alchon of P.E.I., as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 10, 2008, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. from the chapel of Boire Funeral Home, Estevan. A Funeral Service for Delbert will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. from St. Paul’s United Church, Estevan, with Rev. Pat Wotton officiating. Interment will follow in Souris Valley Memorial Gardens, Estevan. Those so wishing may make donations to the St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation, Estevan, in Delbert’s memory. Leo Hygard

McGILLICKY – Emily Monica (1925 – 2008). It is with great sadness that the family of Emily McGillicky announces her passing in Estevan, SK, on Monday, September 15, 2008 at the age of 83 years, surrounded by her loving family. Emily was predeceased by her husband Ralph McGillicky; infant daughter Cheryl; parents, Joseph and Cecilia Frank; brothers, Ed, Adam and Tony Frank; sisters, Mary Freidt, Lucy Mack and Sr. Mary Cecilia Frank; sister-in-law Denise McGillicky; brothers-in-law Joe Mack and Phil Freidt and nephews Donald Freidt and Larry Frank. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, September 18, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. from St. John the Baptist R.C. Church, Estevan, by Rev. Peter Nijssen. Interment will follow in the Estevan City Cemetery. Those so wishing may make donations to the Renal Unit at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Estevan, or the Estevan Regional Nursing Home in Emily’s memory. Giselle Jeannette Chicoine
(February 23, 1936 - October 6, 2008)
CHICOINE – On Monday, October 6, 2008, Giselle Jeannette Chicoine nee: Aubin, late of Storthoaks, SK, passed away at Sunset Haven, Carnduff, SK at the age of 72 years. Giselle was predeceased by her parents Camille and Carmelia Aubin; 2 infant daughters Jacqueline Marie and Lynne Marie; her brother Dennis Aubin. Left to cherish her memory is her loving family husband Wilfrid, children Danny (Lori-Ann) and Lise (Clint) Paton; grandchildren: Kent, Raechelle, Kayla, Kristie, Taylor and Barrett; siblings: Rita (Gerry) Carriere, Claire (Henri) Lecuyer, Blandine (Wayne) Hardman, Leo (Anna) Aubin and Jackie (Roger) Ritchot; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church, Storthoaks, on Friday, October 10, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. with Father Leonce Aubin as celebrant. Interment will follow in the St. Anthony’s parish cemetery. Those wishing may make a donation to a charity of their choice in Giselle’s memory. George Joseph Marcotte
(January 27, 1920 - October 27, 2008)
MARCOTTE - On Monday, October 27, 2008, George Joseph Marcotte, late of Estevan, Saskatchewan, passed away at the age of 88 years. George was predeceased by his parents Joseph Sr. and Marie Marcotte, brothers: Arsene, Joseph Jr., Louis and Gerard; sisters: Clara Gingras, Cecile Lalonde, Irene Corkery and Aurore MacKillop; daughter-in-law Joan Marcotte and great-grandson Presley Marcotte. He is survived by his loving family: children, Gordon (Sandi) Marcotte of Torquay, Brian (Patti) Marcotte of Torquay, Janice (Keith) Hanson of Estevan, Keith (Darlene) Marcotte of Regina, Lance Marcotte of Estevan, Audrey (Stu) MacMurchy of Estevan, Tressa (John) Friess of Torquay and Trina (Doug) Bloor of Estevan; 23 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; mother of his children Barb McLaren; two brothers Ernest and Art (Inis) Marcotte, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
PRAYERS will be held on Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. and the FUNERAL MASS will be celebrated on Thursday, October 30, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. Both services will be held in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Estevan. Interment will take place in the Estevan City Cemetery. If friends so desire contributions to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan or a charity of choice may be made in George’s memory.
