Cheryl Ione Dyer
(March 24, 1946 - February 27, 2008)

DYER – On Wednesday, February 27, 2008, Cheryl Ione Dyer, late of Estevan, SK, passed away in Estevan at the age of 61 years. Cheryl grew up in Estevan and from an early age was a talented singer at functions and with the “Sweet Adelines” singing group. Cheryl married Ron Imbery in 1963 and had a daughter, Margaret, followed by her second marriage to Edwin Dyer in 1976. She worked at the bank for a number of years and when her and Edwin started farming in 1978 she became an enthusiastic farm partner until her recent failing health. She was an avid gardener and her specialty was tomatoes and flowers. She will be missed by many including her faithful Bichon dog who followed her every move. Cheryl was predeceased by her father Ian Gibson; grandparents; two uncles and one aunt. She is survived by her loving family: husband Edwin Dyer; mother Ruth Gibson; daughter Margaret (Martin) Vicente; brothers, Darwin (Daria) Gibson and Lori (Brenda) Gibson; step children, Joel (Shelly) Dyer, Chris (Rhonda) Dyer and Teresa (Gary) Dyer; grandchildren, Travis Pylychaty and Logan Vicente; step grandchildren, Andrew Dyer, Courtney Dyer, Lyle Fattiecher, Michael Balombin and Lyle Balombin. Memorial Service will be held on Monday, March 3, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. from St. Paul’s United Church, Estevan, with Rev. Eric Pullam officiating. Interment will follow in Souris Valley Memorial Gardens, Estevan. Those so wishing may make donations to the Canadian Cancer Society in memory of Cheryl Dyer. Funeral arrangements are in care of Boire Funeral Home, Estevan (634-8233).

Tom Sernick
(July 27, 1937 - February 13, 2008)

SERNICK – On Wednesday, February 13, 2008, Tom Sernick, late of Bienfait, passed away at the age of 70 years. Tom was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Maude Sernick; father-in-law Francis Cossette and nephew Scott Walliser. He is survived by his loving family: wife Mary Sernick of Bienfait, SK; children, Kathy Sernick (Dave Gedak) of Estevan, SK, Terry (Tammy) Sernick of Bienfait, Cindy Sernick (Greg Brenner) of Estevan, Becky Sernick of Bienfait, SK, and family dog Molly; grandchildren, Kyle and Chase Gedak, Jace and Nate Brenner, Montana Sernick and baby Sernick; sister Kay (Joe) Walliser, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Prayer Service will be held on Monday, February 18, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. from the chapel of Boire Funeral Home, Estevan. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. from St. John the Baptist R.C. Church, Estevan, by Rev. Fr. Peter Nijssen. Interment will take place at a later date in the Bienfait Cemetery. Those so wishing may make donations to the Canadian Diabetes. Association or the Canadian National Institute for the Blind in memory of Tom Sernick. Funeral arrangements are in care of Boire Funeral Home, Estevan (634-8233).

Edna Charlotte Corbett
(July 24, 1911 - January 17, 2008)

CORBETT – On Thursday, January 17, 2008, Edna Charlotte Corbett, late of Stoughton, SK, passed away at Newhope Pioneer Lodge in Stoughton at the age of 96 years. Edna was born in 1911. She and Anna were the first twins born in the Benson area. She took all her schooling in Benson. During this time she was active in sports and had a love for skating and playing ball. Her mother taught her to skate. They would go to Leclair’s ravine and practice by a gasoline lantern. She trained to become a nurse in Estevan and graduated in 1934. She nursed in the Estevan and Lampman area until she married Howard Corbett in 1941. After that she did some private duty in the Benson and Estevan district. Edna and Howard purchased a farm southeast of Benson where they raised grain and cattle. They had two daughters, Sandra and Ruberta. In 1976 they built a new home in Benson. After a few years they moved the house to Stoughton where they retired. They both spent their declining years in Newhope Pioneer Lodge in Stoughton. Edna is survived by her two daughters, Sandra Renner and Ruberta Ursu; two grandsons, Regan Ursu and Reid Ursu; sister Isobelle Hursh and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Ormand and Lucy Latimer; husband Howard (2005); brothers, Adwell (1919) and Norman Latimer; twin sister Anna Griffin; sister-in-law Florence Latimer and brothers-in-law, Mitchel Corbett, Sherman Hursh and George Griffin. Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, January 21, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. from Sacred Heart R.C. Church in Benson. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Parish Cemetery, Benson. Those so wishing may make donations to Newhope Pioneer Lodge, Stoughton, SK, in memory of Edna Corbett. Funeral arrangements are in care of Boire Funeral Home, Estevan (634-8233).

Marie-Louise Moreau
(September 14, 1913 - January 21, 2008)

On Monday, January 21, 2008, Marie-Louise Moreau, late of Redvers, SK, passed away in Redvers at the age of 94 years. Marie-Louise was predeceased by her parents, Wilfrid and Emma Beliveau; husband Louis; son Gilbert; two grandsons, Alan Moreau and Jeffrey Martel; three brothers, Armand, Arthur and Emilien; four sisters, Anna, Anne-Marie, Marie, and Bernadette. She is survived by her loving family: Lucille, Armand, Yvette, Paula, Roland, Velia, Marcel, and Gerald; twenty four grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Alice and Monique; one brother, Jean; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, January 25, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. from St. Maurice R.C. Church, Bellegarde, by Rev. Fr. Francis Hengen. Interment will follow in St. Maurice Parish Cemetery, Bellegarde. Those so wishing may make donations to the Redvers & District Community Health Foundation, Inc., in memory of Marie-Louise Moreau. Funeral arrangements are in care of Boire Funeral Home, Redvers (452-6020).

Robert Franklin Toms
(July 15, 1921 - January 23, 2008)

TOMS – On Wednesday, January 23, 2008, Robert Franklin Toms, late of Weyburn, SK and formerly of Redvers, SK, passed away in Weyburn at the age of 86 years. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. from Knox United Church, Redvers, with Rev. Michelle Moore officiating. Interment will follow in the Redvers Town Cemetery. Joseph Leon Commeyne
(December 10, 1922 - January 23, 2008)

Joseph was predeceased by his parents, Cyriel and Suzanne (Yserbyt) Commeyne; siblings, Odiel (Madeleine) Commeyne, Marie (Constant) Vanhollebeke, Roger Commeyne, Gerard Commeyne, Marcel Commeyne and Paul Commeyne; sister-in-law Georgette Mailhiot and brothers-in-law, Willy (Zoe) Denys and Prudent Denys. He is survived by his loving family: wife Mariette Commeyne of Redvers, SK; children, Luke (Jackie) Commeyne of Crooked Lake, SK, Guy Commeyne of Redvers and Brenda (Allan) Hutton of Redvers; grandchildren, Nicole (Kurt) Silversides, Sheri (David) Perras, Melissa Commeyne (Trevor Hextall) Jason (Tammy) Hutton, Bradley (Melissa) Hutton, Aaron Hutton, Jennifer (Marius) Wotta and Jessica Hutton; great grandchildren, Hailey, Zachary, Tesa and Mya Silversides, Mackenzie, Alexander, Emma-Lee and Jonah Perras, Justine and Katrina Hutton, Karly, Paige, and Bree Hutton and Ethan and Kobe Wotta; sister-in-law Agnes Commeyne, brother-in-law Lucien Mailhiot, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. George "Fay" Whitman
(January 14, 1925 - January 26, 2008)

WHITMAN – On Saturday, January 26, 2008, George Fay Whitman, late of Outram, SK, passed away in his home near Outram at the age of 83 years. Fay was predeceased by his parents, George and Irene; wife Bertha; brothers, Robert and Dale; sisters, Viola Hurren, Eva Whitman and Thelma Godman and brothers-in-law, Arthur Hurren, Jack Godman, Joe Schoff, and Bert Blondeau. He is survived by his loving family: son Gary (Terry) Whitman and their children Tressa and Nicole, and son Darrell Whitman; brother Vern Whitman; sisters, Joyce Schoff and Grace Blondeau; sister-in-law Tina Whitman; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Prayer Service will be held on Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. from the chapel of Boire Funeral Home, Estevan. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, January 31, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. from St. John the Baptist R.C. Church, Estevan, by Rev. Fr. Lorne D. Crozon. Wade Justin Tannas
(Oct. 16, 1987 - January 6, 2008)

On Sunday, January 6, 2008, Wade Justin Tannas, late of Estevan, SK, passed away unexpectedly in Estevan at the age of 20 years. Wade was predeceased by his grandfathers, Joe Feusi and Oksel Tannas. He is survived by his loving family: parents, Dale and Patty Tannas of Estevan; sister Jolene Tannas of Estevan; grandmothers, Irene Tannas of Estevan and Clarice (Don) Zorn of Carlyle, SK; special friend Lana Dreyer of Estevan; aunts and uncles, Gail (Danny) LaCoste of Estevan, Carson Feusi of Kenosee Lake, SK, Denise (John) Szmigielski of Lake Alma, SK, Teresa (Ron) Vandermeulen of Grande Prairie, AB and Lisa (Mike) DeMattos of West Bank, B.C., as well as numerous cousins and friends. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 10, 2008, 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. from the chapel of Boire Funeral Home, Estevan. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 11, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. from St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Estevan. Interment will follow in Forest Glen Cemetery. Margaret Elizabeth Weightman
(November 13, 1924 - July 15, 2008)

WEIGHTMAN – On Tuesday, July 15, 2008, Margaret Elizabeth Weightman, late of Kisbey, SK, passed away in Arcola, SK at the age of 83 years. Margaret was born on November 13, 1924 on the family farm SE 20-10-7, W2 in the
Handsworth area. When her mother passed away shortly after her sister Jessie was born, Margaret went to live with Clara Anne Durston’s family (a family friend). She remained with Mrs. Durston, who would later become her adopted mother, after her father re-married. Her education was obtained at Maitland School. She rode horseback or walked. As Mrs. Durston’s health was poor, Margaret was introduced to farm chores and farming at an early age. She married Harry Weightman on July 17, 1950 from Percy United Church. With the help of Harry’s father Oliver, they built a small house and settled to farming on the SE 1-9-6 W2. A few years later a kitchen was added to this home. Margaret remained on the family farm after Harry’s passing in March 1999. When an accident left her unable to look after herself, she moved in with her daughter Nora. Although she only planned to stay a few months, she settled in and remained until her final illness.

Margaret was predeceased by her parents, Percy and Florence (nee Deffy) Harrison; husband Harry George Weightman; sisters, Barbara Ellen Bozzard and Jessie May Flottorp; step mother Eliza Jane; adopted mother Clara Anne Durston and grandson Matthew Oliver. She is survived by her loving family: son David (Elaine) of Kisbey, SK, daughter Nora of Kisbey; grandchildren, Dwayne of Kisbey, Lesley (Sean) of Ottawa, ON, Barbra (Arron) of Lipton, SK and Jessica of Saskatoon, SK and great grandchildren Hanna and Mitchel Huber.

Funeral Service will be held on Monday, July 21, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. from St. Michael’s Anglican Church, Kisbey, with Rev. Michael Sinclair officiating. Interment will follow in Percy Cemetery, Kisbey. Pallbearers are Ross Hall, Bill Hall, Wade Hall, Greg Johnston, Glenn Maitland and Arron Huber. Those so wishing may make donations to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB) or the Arcola Health Centre in Margaret’s memory. Funeral arrangements are in care of Boire Funeral Home, Estevan (634-8233).
