Anne Redekop
Passed Away: January 26, 2006
REDEKOP – ANNE our precious mom and grandma went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 26, 2006. She was 76 years old. Anne Andres was born to Cornelius & Anna Andreas on April 5, 1929 on a farm four miles south of Herbert in Rosefarm district. She had 9 brothers and 2 sisters. She is survived by her sisters Sue and Liz and one brother Corny. Anne attended school in Rosefarm and Greenfarm and went on to attend Bible School in Herbert. It was while attending Bible School that she met Henry, who would become the love of her life. She accepted the Lord as her personal Savior in the Greenfarm MB Church and later was baptized. Anne Andreas and Henry Redekop were married on December 17, 1952. They lived on the Frank Redekop homestead until they purchased their own farm three miles west of Herbert. Mom took and active role in their church in Hebert and was employed at the Herbert Senior Citizens Home. Over the years they were blessed with four children, Garry (Helen) of Herbert, Bryan (Laurie) of Herbert, Angela (Tim) Hasler of Malta, Montana and Teresa (Brent) Nelson of Lac Pelletier and five grandchildren; Trent Redekop, Erin & Megan Redekop and Alisha & Colton Nelson. In July 1995, mom and dad chose to sell the farm and retire to Swift Current. They loved living in the city and spent many hours entertaining friends or just going out for coffee. Their time together ended on June 16, 1996 when dad suddenly passed away. Mom found this time especially difficult and never really adjusted to this loss. She missed him terribly but decided to get herself out of the house by taking on housekeeping jobs for several people, all of whom became very special to her. The biggest part of her life revolved around her family and grandchildren. She was very interested in all aspects of their lives. Whether it was attending car shows, helping us paint our houses, making quilts for us, baking her famous cinnamon buns or attending the grandkids sports games, she could run circles around us, even in her high heels. She had numerous friends and neighbors that she held close to her heart. The one thing that was most important to her was her faith. She shared with us often how important it was to her, for each of us to make our own personal commitment to Christ. In August of 2005 life changed completely for mom when she was diagnosed with in-operable colon cancer. It was an incredible shock, yet she stated often what a great life she’s had. She was not afraid of dying and often talked about meeting Jesus and what a day of rejoicing that would be. She looked forward to celebrating Christmas with her family and had an active part in all the preparations. Christmas was Mom’s favorite time of year and she loved everything it meant. The new year saw a sudden decline in her health and on January 20, 2006 she was admitted to the Cypress Regional Hospital. Mom’s last week was a testimony to her strong faith and her desire to see Jesus. On Thursday, January 26, 2006 she went to her mansion in heaven to be with our Dad and our Lord and Savior.

Cornelius Martens
Passed Away: March 26, 2006
MARTENS – Cornelius, age 80 of Swift Current, Sk passed away on Sunday, March 26th, 2006, at the Swift Current Palliser Regional Hospital. Dad was born on the family homestead in the Wymark area to John and Anna Martens on November 13th, 1925, the fifth of ten children. Dad took his schooling in Wymark, and as was the tradition, finished his Grade 8 and then joined the work force. His first years were spent on the farm, working as a farm laborer. His younger sister, Betty, recalls the times when he and her raced the horses to see who could get the work done first in the fields. Dad’s employment in Swift Current consisted of working at the local Horse Plant, then as a mechanic at Bill & Harv’s Service Station. Following that as a machine operator at the City of Swift Current doing snow removal, street sweeping and painting curbs, and in his later years was employed by Garry as a mechanic on farm machinery. He retired in 1989 and shortly thereafter, he moved into the Heritage Towers where he lived until May of 2001. Dad’s eyesight was always poor and after three surgeries to receive cornea transplants, it became evident that he was unable to take care of himself and he was admitted to the Palliser Regional Hospital where he remained until his passing. Our grateful thanks to the staff at the Palliser, for their care over the past 4 years and 9 months. Although he could not see your smiles, we know he appreciated your words. Thanks for the countless peanut butter & jelly sandwiches that put a smile on his face! We also want to extend our appreciation to Dr. Young for his faithful service over the many, many years he helped him. Dad had a dry sense of humor and loved to play mind games. He would never admit willingly that he had had visitors throughout the week, unless we were to name each and every one that we thought could have been there, before he would say yes. “Thank you” to those who visited him over the years and helped to brighten his days. He was not a man of many words, and preferred to keep his knowledge inside. However, if ever we asked him about family and how some people were related to others, he always seemed to know. Years prior before his eyesight failed, he studied the Wymark History Book from beginning to end. He could have written an exam on that book and aced it. Dad married our mother, Mary Neufeld, and their union was blessed with five children. Dad was widowed at the age of 45 and life was not easy for a young dad with four children, especially two young girls ages 9 and 6. He was a hard worker and had wonderful work ethics, and did the best that he could to provide for his family. Dad was an avid sports fan and although he was not a participant, he loved baseball, hockey and stampede wrestling. Garry has fond memories of attending hockey games with dad at the old Citizens’ Rink. Dad was predeceased by a daughter, Brenda in infancy in 1960, and then by our mom on December 30th, 1970; his mother in 1929 and his father in 1982. Also, his brothers John, Jake & Pete and his sister Anne, as well as his brothers-in-law Bill Oman and Jake Wall. Dad is survived by his four children: Garry (Gladys), Larry and his children Cassandra (16) and Matthew (14), Shelley (Terry) Seibel; and Gina (Doug) Huffman and their boys Ayrton (6) and Berkley (3); two sisters, Sally Wall and Betty Oman; brothers, Frank (Kathy) and Bernard (Ann) and brother-in-law Zene Downey, sisters-in-law Helen Neufeld and Mary Dyck; as well as many nieces and nephews. Memorial donations in dad’s memory may be made to the CNIB, or the Palliser Hospital Auxiliary. A funeral service was held on Wednesday, March 29, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at the Church of the Open Bible with Pastor Rob Cochrane officiating. The organist was Rhonda Wittman and there was special music preformed by Archie and Sylvia Neufeld. The Ushers were Darcy Seibel and Steve Janke. The pallbearers were: Albert Dyck, Bob Neufeld, Matthew Malone, John Fehr, Pete Fehr and Dan Downey. The interment was held at Mount Pleasant Burial Park, Swift Current, SK.
