Georgina Ferguson
Passed Away: March 10, 2005
Ferguson, Miss Georgina (Jean), peacefully passed away on March 10, 2005 at Herbert Nursing Home at the age of 87 years. Jean was predeceased by her parents Georgina and William Ferguson, and her sisters Florence Ferguson (at an early age), Ada McGhie, Ethel Saigeon and Peggy Willy. Jean is survived by her nephews Allan Willy of Toronto, Ontario, Gordon and Gerald McGhie of British Columbia and niece Dorothy Ferguson (Saigeon) of Morse, Saskatchewan, and friend Rae Busse of Swift Current. Jean, the youngest, was born on March 5, 1918 in the Morse, Saskatchewan area and resided with her family on a farm a few miles south of this community. Jean’s father died when she was a child, and Jean, with her mother and sisters, survived the depression era without losing their family farm. Jean eventually moved to Swift Current in the 1940’s where she began her lifetime career as a retail clerk. She remained there, resident at Prairie View Lodge in her retirement until September 2004 when she entered the Herbert Nursing Home. Jean Ferguson was interred in the family plot at Morse, Saskatchewan on March 17, 2005. A grave side service was held on Thursday, March 17, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Morse Cemetery officiated by Pastor Bob Cappelle. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Parkside Memorial Funeral Home, Swift Current, Saskatchewan. The family would like to thank Lynn Meyers, Sandra Fortman and other staff of Swift Current Home Health Care and staff at the Herbert Nursing Home for care provided to our Aunt Jean.

Peter Klassen
Passed Away: September 3, 2005
KLASSEN Mr. Peter, was born on February 21, 1917 on the homestead at Kelstern, SK. He was the oldest son of Peter I. And Eva Klassen. He had four brothers and two sisters. He married Helen Loewen on October 26, 1955. To this union was born, Delmar and Kelly. He loved the farm and the life that went with it. He enjoyed working in the fields or with his cattle. He farmed for many years and in 1990 Peter and Helen retired and moved to Waldeck. Because he found it hard to leave the farm he continued to help out with the farming. He was immensely proud of his family and enjoyed when everyone was all together at family gatherings. Family was very important to Peter, especially his grandchildren. Peter loved the Lord and his greatest wish was to see his children and grandchildren following the Lord and he passed away knowing his wish had come true. His wife Helen, passed away on May 16, 1998 which left him very lonely. In the last two years he made several moves and his final move was to the Herbert Nursing Home where he passed away peacefully in his sleep on September 3, 2005. Peter leaves to cherish his memory, his son, Delmar (Veleta), Carrington, and Meeka, of Hodgeville; daughter, Kelly (Lyle) Krause, Nikki, Kristie, Cassie, and Lexi, of Waldeck; sister, Martha Redekopp, of Lanigan; brother, Dave (Anne) Klassen, of Medicine Hat; sisters-in-law, Martha Klassen, of Moose Jaw; Phylis Klassen, of Calgary; Caroline Klassen, of Abbotsford; and brother-in-law, George and Wanda Loewen, of Brea, California. He was predeceased by his wife, Helen; parents, Peter I. And Eva Klassen; sister, Eva, in childhood; brothers: John, Henry and Jake; and brother-in-law, Lawrence Redekopp. The funeral service was held on Thursday, September 8, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at the Community Baptist Church in Swift Current with Pastor Fred Wilson and Pastor Ray Ulriksen officiating. The pianist was, Myrna Priebe and special music was presented by the Kelstern ladies. The ushers were, Terry Giesbrecht and Kevin Funk. The pallbearers were: Terry Ostrander, Carrington Klassen, Delmar Klassen, Brad Vesey, Dwayne McGregor and Larry Baerg. The interment was held at the Kelstern MB Cemetery in Kelstern, SK. Memorial donations may be made to Gideon’s International.

Henry Wall
Passed Away: September 3, 2005
WALL Mr. Henry, aged 87 ˝ years of Swift Current, Saskatchewan, passed away at his home on Saturday, September 3, 2005. The funeral service was held on Friday, September 9, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at First United Church in Swift Current with Reverend John Barker officiating. The organist for the funeral service was Marilyn King. The ushers were: Jeanie Story, Leanne Ebnor and Chantel Wall. The pallbearers were grandsons: Calvin Krause, Keith Kraft, Kevin Wall, Duane Wall, Robert Wall and Jeremy Lott. The interment was held at the Neville Community Cemetery in Neville, Saskatchewan. Henry is survived by his children: Annette Kraft, Marie Krause, Henrietta Lott (Keith Hunter), Viola Ross, Gladys (Ray) Coleman, Lester (Carol) Wall, Wes (Bonnie) Wall, Stan (Sara) Wall, Howie (Linda) Wall, Larry (Elaine) Wall, Shirley (Stan) Mullenix, Wayne Wall, Walter (Rosemary) Wall, Randy (Marilyn) Wall, Sherry (David) Quirk, and Audrey (Darrell) Blohm; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Jessie, in October of 1992; sons-in-law: Emil Kraft, Ted Krause, Les Lott, and Bert Ross; daughter-in-law, Helen Wall; and grandson, Robbie Blohm. Henry was born South East of Swift Current on March 7, 1918 to Jacob and Mary Wall. He married Jessie Smith on October 10, 1936. He served in the Second World War for three years. In 1947 the family moved to the farm in the Pambrun area where he farmed until he retired to Neville. After Jessie’s passing he moved to Swift Current and has remained in his apartment until he passed away. He was an avid card player and he spent many hours playing crib with his friends. He enjoyed fishing and making regular trips to the farm to give Wayne a hand at whatever might require his expertise. He sorely missed his life long companion, but enjoyed visiting with his children and their families. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes. Association.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Parkside Memorial Funeral Home, Swift Current, Saskatchewan.

George Murphy
Passed Away: August 7, 2005
MURPHY – George Edmund (December 10, 1914 – August 7, 2005) formerly of Swift Current and Neville, went to his eternal rest in Herbert Hospital. He was born on the family farm at Beverly, SK the only child of Thomas George and Mina Edith (nee Howden) Murphy. They moved to Neville in 1921. George enlisted with the RCAF in 1941. He was a Navigation Officer and instructor of many young men from various commonwealth countries. George married F. Louise Taylor in 1943. After WWII they bought his Dad’s farm at Neville. George was predeceased by his parents, in 1959 and 1966; his wife, Louise (2001); grandson, Colin Scott Jackle (1996); sisters and brothers-in-law: Muriel and Joseph Morgan, Frederick and Louise Taylor and Blanche Morgan. George is survived by his children: Sheila E.L. Morin of Swift Current, Donald G. (Sheri) Murphy of Dawson Creek, B.C. and Colleen A. Jackle of Calgary, AB; grandchildren: Dean Jackle of Calgary, Derek G. and Janelle L. Murphy of Dawson Creek; brother-in-law, Angus J. Morgan of Calgary and much loved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Dad, a farmer, was very active in his community – Treasurer (with Mum) of St. Paul’s United Church in Neville, Secretary and President of Neville Legion #328 and many other organizations. Dad was devoted to the cooperative movement – Co-op, Credit Union, Wheat Pool and NDP. A very special Honor Guard and Legion Tribute was led by Glen Davis, assisted by members of the Neville Legion #328 and Swift Current Legion. The Last Post was played by Dick Warren. The ushers were, Keith Allan and Stuart Dyrland. Pallbearers were: Dean Jackle, Derek Murphy, Dale Fowke, Greg Taylor, Walter Ivanochko and Rodney Murphy. The interment took place at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Swift Current, SK. The family would appreciate memorial donations be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or a charity of your choice.

Dorothy Gray
Passed Away: August 16, 2005
GRAY Mrs. Dorothy, age 82, of Swift Current and formerly of the Lacadena area passed away with her family by her side on August 16, 2005 at the Cypress Regional Hospital in Swift Current. A celebration of Dorothy’s life was held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 19, 2005 at Grace United Church with Doris Watt officiating. Honorary pallbearers were: Eva Morrow, Ethel McMullen, Chris McDonald, Jean Heuer, and Fran Davis. The pallbearers were: Dana Omland, Bevan Omland, Don Gray, Bob Hope, Hugh Mutlow, and Larry Mutlow. The ushers were, Leonard Goheen and Darryl Gray. The interment was held at the Lacadena Cemetery. Dorothy was predeceased by her loving husband of 50 years, Ken Gray, in 1993; her beloved son, Ron (age 44) in 1988; her father, William Mutlow, in 1955; her mother, Elizabeth (Hunter), in 1985; her brothers: Roland, John and Sam Mutlow; her sisters: Mary Rickards, Helen Perrin, Margaret Jenson, Ellen Byers and Bertha Kerr; her nephews: Mel Rickards, Terry Jenson and Gary Perrin. Dorothy is mourned by her only daughter, Sandra Omland (Milt Blehm) of Swift Current; six grandchildren: Dana (Barb) Omland, Danny (Pon) Omland, Bevan Omland, Lynae Gray, Robin (Terry) Powers, Erin (Dammon) Goudy, and Jody Harris; eight great-grandchildren: Kelsy, Landon, Kyra, Justin, Nolan, Paige, Hayden, and Ryley; her sister, Audrey (Munro) Hope; sisters-in-law: Toots Mutlow, Hazel Mutlow, and Nel Roer; and her brother-in-law, Carl Jenson. Dorothy was born on October 25, 1922 in Rosetown, Saskatchewan and grew up in White Bear, Saskatchewan. In 1943 she married Ken Gray and they made the Lacadena Community their home until moving to Swift Current. Dorothy’s greatest love was her family and friends and she took great pleasure in hosting them. Dorothy was always very involved in her community. In honor of Dorothy, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Parkside Memorial Funeral Home, Swift Current, Saskatchewan.

Maria Thiessen
Passed Away: July 31, 2005
THIESSEN Mrs. Maria (Mary), aged 105 years, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2005 at the Herbert Nursing Home in Herbert, Saskatchewan. Mary was born on October 23, 1899 to her parents, Henry and Maria (nee Schultz) Andres in the village of Rosenback, Furstenland, South Russia. In 1901 she immigrated with her parents to Canada. They first settled in Winkler, Manitoba and later lived at Gretna and also Altona, Manitoba. During this time when she became of school age she managed to attend some classes of German school for a few years. In 1909 the family moved to Herbert, Saskatchewan where they eventually settled on a farm 11 miles southeast of Herbert in the Wiebe School District. It was there that they attended the Greenfarm Church. There was no school in the district at that time so she was not able to get any more schooling. When she was old enough she sometimes worked for other people in the area. In 1917 Mary accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior. She was baptized later that year and joined the Greenfarm MB Church. Also in 1917 her mother passed away and she and her sister, Elizabeth, were left with the burden of helping to care for their younger siblings until their father remarried. On March 28, 1920 she married Abram Thiessen. They settled on a farm 9 miles north of Herbert until 1924 when they moved to a farm 15 miles southeast of Herbert, in the Neidpath area. They lived at this location until 1962 when they purchased a house in Herbert and moved there. They lived in their house until failing health persuaded them to move into the Herbert Heritage Manor. Shortly after Abram’s death in 1999 she moved to the Herbert Nursing Home where she remained until her death. She is survived by six children: Leona (Biech) Mayer, of Regina, SK, Peter (Lillian) Thiessen, of Herbert, SK, Leonard (Anita) Thiessen, of Swift Current, SK, Tina Thiessen, of Westbank, B.C., Norman (Ileine) Thiessen, of Glenbuch, SK, and Eleanor (Norman) Goertzen, of Kyle, SK; 24 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Jake (Helen) Andres, of Clovis, California; her sister, Sarah Williams, of Phoenix, Arizona; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Henry and Kate Thiessen, of Langley, B.C.; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Henry and Maria Andres; three half sisters; two sisters; three brothers; her husband, Abram; son, Henry; two sons-in-law, Ed Biech and Wally Thiessen; daughter-in-law, Lydia; and granddaughter-in-law, Judy Thiessen. The funeral service was held on Thursday, August 4, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at the Herbert M.B. Church with Pastor Bob Cappelle officiating. The pianist was Verna Andres and special music was provided by the Herbert M.B. Quartet. The ushers were, Doug Selders and Murray Martens. A tribute was given by her grandson, Walter Biech. The pallbearers were grandsons: Ron Thiessen, Clifford Thiessen, Doug Goertzen, Perry Thiessen, Delbert Biech, and Wayne Thiessen. The interment was held at the Herbert Cemetery, Herbert, Saskatchewan. Memorial donations may be made to the Herbert Nursing Home or to the charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Parkside Memorial Funeral Home, Swift Current, Saskatchewan.

Arlene Carolyn Wagner
Passed Away: July 18, 2005
WAGNER Mrs. Arlene Carolyn, aged 58 years of Swift Current, Saskatchewan, passed away on July 18, 2005 at the Cypress Regional Hospital in Swift Current. Arlene is survived by her husband, Alvin; three sons: Fred (Denise), Donnie (Tracy), and Murray (Leanne), all of Swift Current; three stepsons: Rory (Fern), of Olds, AB, Terry, of North Battleford, and Gerald (Abi), of England; several grandchildren: William Chalk (special friend, Courtney), Hayley and Keely Chalk, Dale Wagner, and Dalton Chalk. Arlene was predeceased by her mother and father, Linda and Fred Gering; and her brothers, Murray and Reg Gering. The funeral service was held on Saturday, July 23, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Olaf Lutheran Church with Pastor Amber Hoffman officiating. The organist was Arlie Neufeld and the pallbearers were: Jim Parsons, Jeff Wall, Ray Bourlon, James Wiebe, Dave Reddekopp, and Claude Auger. The interment was held at Hillcrest Cemetery, Swift Current, Saskatchewan. Memorial donations may be made to the SPCA at Box 1163, Swift Current, SK, S9H 3X3 or to the charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Parkside Memorial Funeral Home, Swift Current, Saskatchewan.
