PEELER Reverend Herbert William
On April 16, 2005 Mr. Peeler left us for a heavenly reunion with his wife, Sarah, of 54 years. He is survived by three sons: Lloyd (Noreen), David (Christina) and Wayne (Cathy), the pride of his life; grandchildren: Cheryl (Bevan), Shonna (Jason), Rick (Carolyn), Tammy (Johnny), Kristin (Scott) and Alison (Calum); great grandchildren: Megan-Jane, Bethany, Sarah, Natasha, Dylan, Dakota and Wyatt; and sister-in-law, Helen Dickson. Mr. Peeler devoted over seventy of his ninety-four years in the service of the Lord. As a young man he and Ed Erickson were familiar figures criss-crossing the province to hold evangelistic meetings in schools, tents, churches and bible camps. While at the same time, himself a recent graduate, he inherited the responsibility of the operation of the fledgling Moose Jaw Bible College, which had recently relocated to Pambrun, Saskatchewan, when it's founder, Mr. Millar died suddenly. The young school was renamed Millar Memorial Bible Institute, and although getting the young institution off the ground during the depression years was difficult, with the Lord's faithfulness it is still thriving today, as Millar College of the Bible. Although a humble man, Mr. Peeler did take great pride and have a deep love for the school he helped to create and especially the young people who attended there. He was renowned for his knowledge of the scriptures and his ability to communicate that information to others in his teaching. Hundreds of missionaries and pastors throughout the world trace their routes to the teaching they received at Millar College of the Bible. Mr. Peeler went to be with his Lord while gardening, one of his favorite hobbies, we know heaven is rejoicing to receive one of their own. A service in his honour will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 22, 2005 at Millar College of the Bible in Pambrun. In lieu of flowers donations to the H W Peeler Trust Fund, in care of Millar College of the Bible, would be appreciated. Till we meet again in glory, we love you Dad, Grandpa and Great Grandpa, Your Family. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Parkside Memorial Funeral Home, Swift Current, Saskatchewan.

Gisela Waltraud Neumann (Zilch)
Gisela Waltraud Neumann (Zilch) was born on April 19, 1941 in Germany.
Her family immigrated to Canada - arriving in Quebec on August 6, 1954.
On August 9, they moved to Morse, Sask. and by December they were living in Herbert, Sask.
After Gisela finished her schooling in Herbert, she went on to work at the Bank of Montreal in Regina, Swift Current and Herbert, "moving closer" to Gerhard Neumann whom she married on October 12, 1963. During their 41 years of marriage, Gisela worked alongside Gary on their farm south of Herbert. While she didn't grow up on a farm - she learned quickly. She started out by milking cows and trucking grain for Gary and his two brothers in harvest time. Eventually, she operated every piece of equipment needed to farm the land. She also loved to work with livestock and did her share of "night time checks" during calving season.
When it came to involving their three children in the farm - it was Gisela who taught them how to run the machinery and bottle feed those calves. When the kids were younger, the family spent a great deal of time together at local fishing holes - in both summer and winter. While Gisela enjoyed taking Eddy and Dean to hockey and baseball games, she thought things would get easier when she had a daughter. But when Tracy joined 4H she said, "I never thought I'd be driving around the country pulling a stocktrailer and going to shows every weekend."
As a caregiver and "friend," Gisela's devotion to her family is truly treasured and appreciated. When Eddy was very young she spent a lot of time at his hospital bedside; She took care of her mother-in-law Anna; She kept the farm going when Gary had cancer and West Nile Virus - and when her granddaughter was sick in infancy - she camped out at the hospital again. As a "good listener" she also spent hours on the phone - every day - with her own mother and daughter.
Active in the community, Gisela was a member of the Lioness Club for several years and served as president. The church was also important in her life. Gisela was baptized, confirmed and married in the Luthern Church - and served in her church through Sunday School teaching, Ladies Aid and Church Council.
When Gisela's challenge with brain cancer took a serious turn in September 2004, she fought it with grace, determination and a bright smile on her face. Although she became paralyzed and lost her ability to speak - she regained those abilities if just for awhile. With a short but precious "second chance" she returned home to the farm for Christmas - and of course got to see those doggies she missed so much. With the help of her little nurse and cuddlebug, a.k.a "Little Grandma," (Kaitlyn) Gisela created a wealth of memories for her family.
The family will always think of the farm as Gisela's "special place."
She enjoyed her yard and flowers, the apple trees she made so many pies from - and of course all those birds ranging from the geese that descend on the slough behind the farm to those "resident" owls that sound their watch all night long.
Gisela passed away at the Herbert Hospital on Wednesday, March 30, 2005.
She is survived by her husband Gerhard, two sons Dean (Christina) Neumann of Herbert, Edward Neumann of Herbert and one daughter, Tracy (Tom) Harrison of Regina Beach - and one grandchild, Kaitlyn Harrison: her mother Hildegard Zilch of Morse, brother Horst (Margaret) Zilch of Endeavour and sister Helga (Elmer) Wigg of Lang. Also surviving are seven nephews and seven nieces as well as other relatives.
Gisela was predeceased by her two infant sisters, Liselotte in 1940, Renate in 1945, one infant brother, Ernst in 1948 and her father, Heinz, in 1999.
The funeral took place April 5th, 2005 at St. Olaf's Luthern Church in Swift Current. Interment was at the Herbert Cemetery. Donations in Gisela's memory to the Allan Blair Cancer Clinic would be appreciated. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Parkside Memorial Funeral Home, Swift Current, Saskatchewan.

PETERS Mrs. Tena
PETERS Mrs. Tena, age 85, of Swift Current, Saskatchewan passed away on Monday, March 21, 2005 at the Cypress Regional Hospital in Swift Current. Tena was born in the Reinfeld district on October 26, 1919; the oldest daughter of eight children, to Johan & Helena Friesen. After only attending school for four years, she achieved her grade eight education at Iris School. In her early years she was baptized and her faith in the Lord continued to strengthen. She met her life long partner, John, and they were married on November 12, 1944. After living with her parents for a brief time, and after much hard work and commitment, they started their own homestead in the Blumenort area. God blessed their lives with four children. Mom loved the farm, especially the gardening. She always had enough vegetables in her garden for anyone who could use them. Some of our favorite memories are ones where we worked alongside our parents, learning good hard work ethics. They lived on the farm up until they moved into Swift Current in 1977. After their move to town, Mom proved to all of us that she was up for the challenge of getting a job. She was employed in various capacities, but especially enjoyed her Home Care service years. She touched so many lives with her love and compassion as she gave of herself so willingly and unselfishly. In 1992, Dad passed away, bringing with it the challenges that come with living alone. That same year she retired from Home Care, allowing for more time to work with needy individuals on a one to one basis. Her servant attitude was always evident. There was never a time that her door wasn’t open for coffee and of course, cookies. As a young child, her ambition was to become a cook and we were certainly on the receiving end of many years of delicious food. We often wondered how she could survive on ice cream and fries and still look so good! Her grandchildren were a continuous source of joy and were the recipients of daily prayers and constant encouragement. The grandchildren all have memories of special times with Grandma, such as making noodles, mowing the lawn and having a Coke, the annual Easter Egg hunt, as well as many, many wonderful family gatherings. Fellowship around the table always included light-hearted teasing and jokes, to the point of Mom laughing tears! Her love of gardening filled her days and Mom found much joy in seeing her flowers bloom. As well, she spent many hours crocheting blankets and doilies or piecing together wonderful blue jean blankets for us. Even in her final weeks she was putting the last ones together to make sure we all had one. In 1997 and again in 2004, heart problems presented major challenges in Mom’s life; however, we never saw her faith waver. Rather her attitude towards life was one of “God give me grace for this day, just this one day.” Throughout all these wonderful years, the most valuable legacy she leaves to us is her committed walk with her Lord and Saviour. In her own words, “I am so thankful for the wisdom that God has granted to me that I could accept the Saviour as my Lord. I know the Saviour has prepared an eternal home for me. Praise the Lord!” Her passing has left a void in the lives of us, whom she leaves behind: her son, Melvin (Janice), their children, Marla (Maury) Ziegler, and Justin; son, Harry (Connie), their children, Rodney, and Cary (Marc) Urban; daughter, Norma (Pete) Fehr, their children: Kelly (fiancée, Jen), Korilee, and Landon; son, Dale (Charlotte), their children: Mackenzie, Kalen, and Camrynne; sisters: Helen Banman, Marie Funk, and Eva (Arnold) Lang; brothers, John (Susie) Friesen, and Peter Friesen; sisters-in-law: Helen Friesen, Sarah Dyck, and Helen Funk; brother-in-law, Pete (Susie) Peters; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband, John; her parents; brothers, Abe and Jake; brothers-in-law, Ernest Funk, and George Banman; and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Friesen. The funeral service was held on Saturday, March 26, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at the Church of The Open Bible with Pastor Rob Cochrane officiating. The pianist for the service was Wendy Cochrane and special music was presented by All 4 One. A tribute was given by Tena’s children and grandchildren. The ushers were: Jerry Funk, Karen Erlandson, Helen Aikens and Abe Friesen. The pallbearers were her grandchildren: Marla Ziegler, Justin Peters, Rod Peters, Cary Urban, Kelly Fehr, Korilee Fehr, Landon Fehr, Mackenzie Peters, Kalen Peters and Camrynne Peters. The interment was held at the Wymark EMC Cemetery, Chortitz, Saskatchewan. Memorial donations may be made to Gideon’s International. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Parkside Memorial Funeral Home, Swift Current, Saskatchewan.

He played for dances with his sister, Gladys, as a teenager. Later he played with a local group called, “the Vikings”, and spent several years playing with the Swift Current Old Time Fiddlers. A time that was very special to both Lloyd and Eileen. Lloyd’s family was very important to him and he enjoyed his great-grandchildren’s visits even as his health was failing.
