(Retired Captain of Oshawa Fire Department, including several years on ambulance service where his kindness and expertise touched the lives of many in distress) Died at Lakeridge Health Corp. Oshawa, on Saturday, November 12, 2005, after a long illness at the age of 78. Predeceased by his wife Irma (Rantanen). Survived by son John (wife Vicki Brown), daughter Janel (husband Carlo Aloe) and 5 grandchildren: Justin, Sean, Hailey, Dane and Brayden; brother Winston of Halifax, N.S., and sister Kathryn Ann of Markham, ON. At Doug's request there will be no visitation or funeral service. A private family service was held. Special thanks to the 8th Main Nursing Staff for their extraordinary acts of caring and kindness during this difficult period. Loving brother of Jimmy and his wife Ann (Ajax), May, Lily, David and their families in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Dear brother-in-law of the Forsyth family of New Brunswick. Predeceased by his parents George and Martha, his brothers and sisters Herb, Edith, Frieda and Jimmy. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Mr. Neal will be resting at W.C. TOWN FUNERAL CHAPEL, 110 Dundas Street East, Whitby 905-668-3410 on Friday November 18, 2005 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. NIELSEN, Karla –
At Sunnycrest Nursing Home, Whitby, on Saturday, November 12, 2005, in her 81st year. Karla, beloved wife for 43 years of the late Helge Nielsen. Loving mother of Eva Anderson of Oshawa, Peder and his wife Debbie of Courtice, and Klaus of Oshawa. Sadly missed by grandchildren Chris, Andrea, Adam, and Jenni, and her special four-legged companion Brandy. Survived by many family members in Denmark. A special thank you to the caring staff at Sunnycrest Nursing Home. At Karla’s request, no funeral service will take place. A private service to celebrate her life will be held following cremation. Dear sister of Royce of Strathcona, Donna Conway of Newburgh, Donnie of Bowmanville and Shirley VanAlstine of Belleville. Predeceased by her brothers Bill and Paul. (Veteran of WWII with RCAF #23 Detachment, flight 66 and retired employee of General Motors of Oshawa/Ste. Therese) It is with great sadness to announce the sudden passing of Ian “Rigger” Reay, in his 80th year. Beloved husband of the late Andre. Wonderful father to Crystal (Patrick), Keven (Suna), Darryn (Barb), Derek (Lori). Loving Grampa to Spencer and Keenan Dawson, Joshua, Rebecca, Coltyn and Nicholas Reay, Brianna and Chaleigh Rose Reay. Son of the late William and Dorothy Reay. Brother of Kitty Tripp of B.C., Connie Ryan of Kirkland Lake and the late Jack Reay. Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews and remembered by all. He was someone who throughly enjoyed life, song and laughter and always kept his humour. Cherished grandma of 14 and loving Grandma Great of 26. Lovingly remembered by her sisters Della and her husband George Skerrit, and Blanche Empringham, her brother Ralph and his wife Marion, and her sister-in-law Helen Bentley. Beloved husband of the late Helen (nee Avery). Predeceased by his children Sylvia Bolton and Randy. Survived by his daughter Linda and husband John Bradshaw and son-in-law Merv Bolton. Loving grandfather of Barry and his wife Deb, Kevin and his wife Heather, Darin Bolton, John and his wife Bev, Dan, and Lori and her husband Ryan and great-grandfather of Bryan, Alex, Kate and Amanda. Brother of Helen McIntyre and her husband Max and predeceased by Bruce and infant brother Robert. Fondly remembered by his sister-in-law Ruth and his many nieces and nephews. Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family in Oshawa after a courageous battle with cancer on November 10th, 2005. Lover and best friend of Leigh-Anne. Beloved son of Carol and Terry. He will be fondly remembered by his loving brother Troy and his favourite sister Tracy. Cherished uncle Twit of Shannon, Renae, Paige, Carson, Christopher and Cassandra.
