Suddenly, on Saturday, December 31, 2005 at his home in Port Perry, at age 53. Jim MacLeod, beloved father of James MacLeod and his partner Erin Kent of Seagrave, Linda and her husband Trevor Smith of Little Britain, and Gene MacLeod and her fiancé Mark of Waterloo. Loving son of James MacLeod and the late Yvette. Dear brother of Shirley Macleod and Frank MacLeod all of Nova Scotia. He will also be missed by his niece Sheila. Very special grandmother of Gillian (John Bradshaw), Martha (Chris Osborne) and Daniel Turner. Great-grandmother of Jack and Jane Bradshaw & Tessa & Laura Osborne. Predeceased by her spouses J.B. Mitchell (1942) and Dr.V.H. Storey (1979) daughter Nancy Mitchell (1957) and son-in-law John Turner (1994). A long time resident of Bowmanville, Ontario, Nora was the youngest of 9 and the last surviving child of Mary & D.J. Gibson of the Newcastle area. After a long and courageous battle with cancer, we lost our hero. Earl, loving husband of Sue, devoted father of Amy and proud Grampy of Taylor, died peacefully on Friday, December 30, 2005 surrounded by 'his girls'. On behalf of Earl and our Family, we would like to say thank you to our many friends who were with us every step of the way; we could not have made this journey without your constant love and unfailing support. We would also like to take this opportunity to say thank you to three very kind, very supportive nurses: Vivian, Amanda and Michael, for their daily tender care of Earl and their generous support of our Family during this most difficult time. Thank you also to the Palliative Care Team and to the Oncology Unit at Lakeridge Health - Oshawa: Earl was in good hands. Our heartfelt thanks to Dr. N. Devost of Lakeridge Health and to Dr. J. Kim and his Nursing Team of Princess Margaret Hospital, for their special ability to make Earl and our Family feel like we were their only concern.
