The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. from the Keeseekoose First Nation Band Hall. the interment will follow in the Keeseekoose First Nations Cemetery.
Lloyd Randolf Brass “Kamanichiket” (he who dresses well) was welcomed into the spirit world at the age of 64 on September 25, 2008 in the ICU of the Yorkton Regional Health Centre, Yorkton, Saskatchewan. He was predeceased by a son, Leslie; two daughters, Hazel and Loriann; mother and step father Pauline and Joseph Pelly; father, Wilfred Brass; brothers, Joseph Jr. and Leonard Ketchemonia; sister, Winnifred Cote; grandparents, Ada and George Brass and Nellie and Roy Musqua and adopted mother, Isabel McNabb. He leaves the legacy of his life teachings and values to his best friend and beloved wife of 37 years, Corrine (nee: Cadotte); his children, Joseph (Rhoda), Stacy, Mark, Karen and Jaclyn. His pride and joy of his life, his grandchildren, Joseph (Ashley), Craigie (Tiffany) , Tyrell (Juanita), Talia, Laura, Miranda, Samara, Kelsa, Landon, Koben, Xavier, Jasmine, Zena, Loriann, Gavin and his beloved, Evander. He was extremely proud of his great-grandchildren, Brielle, Tasia and baby, Joseph. He is also survived by his loving siblings, Arnold (Sherry), Sharon (Ross), Stella (Vincent) and Lawrence of Cote First Nation, Linda (Eric) Landrie of Edmonton; Margaret, Judy, Donna and Terry Pelly of Saskatoon; Josphine Pelly of Calgary. He will also be remembered by his in-laws; Howard (Cheryl) Cadotte, Herman (Grace) Mentuck, Stan (Delores) Severight and Delphine Cadotte. There are so many relatives to mention; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews who he held dear to his heart. He also had numerous friends throughout the country. Lloyd’s career as a politician had taken him into the heart of Indian Country and around the world. His knowledge on the true spirit and intent of treaties had taken him to Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand and across Canada. He was one of the founding elders of Wanuskewin Heritage Park in Saskatoon. His traditional teachings and values earned him a role as a respected elder in the traditional realm. Lloyd based his life on the saying, “Always have a good mind”. He actively promoted sports with the youth and coached hockey all his life. He saw the importance of education for his people to survive and his legacy and teachings will continue to live on in the lives of those whom he touched. “ KISEWANIM KIWAPAMIN MINAWA”

Service: Funeral Services were held on Thursday, July 3, 2008 from St. Andrew’s United Church in Yorkton, Saskatchewan with Reverend Faye Greer officiating. The organist, Mrs. Shani Apland, led the congregation in the singing of the hymns, “The King of Love, My Shepherd Is” and “All The Way My Saviour Leads Me”. Victoria’s granddaughter, Emily Ostapovich played a violin solo in memory of her “Gram”. The cremation committal service was held on Friday, July 4, 2008 from the Yorkton City Cemetery with Reverend Faye Greer officiating.
Memorial Donations: Friends so wishing may make donations in Vicky's name to the Alzheimer's Association of Saskatchewan as tokens of remembrance.
Mrs. Victoria Lee died peacefully at the Yorkton & District Nursing Home on Saturday, June 28, 2008. She was 86 years of age. Predeceased by parents, John and Mary Kruda, first husband, John Ostapovich, son, Kenneth W. Ostapovich and second husband, Norm R. Lee; brothers, Joseph, Nick and Rudy Kruda. She is survived by her sister, Mrs. Lillian Benning (Rex) of Saskatoon, Sk. And by her sons, William (Wendy) of Courtenay, B.C. and Brian (Brenda) of Victoria, BC and grandchildren, Lenkyn Jon Ostapovich of Vancouver, BC, Nicole Starr and Tyler Brock Ostapovich of Victoria, BC and Emily Victoria Ostapovich of Courtenay, BC. Victoria was born in Jedburgh, Sk district on April 14, 1922 and raised and schooled in Jedburgh and Yorkton. She later trained for Nursing at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon, and graduated in 1944. She nursing in Yorkton until her retirement in 1982. She enjoyed gardening and all that grew in her yard, golf, fished when the opportunity arose and especially loved the trips to visit family. She will be forever loved and remembered. A special thank you to Ed and Luba Magis for all the extra special times you gave to mother.

ANDREAS, Mr. George C. Andreas (Jr.)
ANDREAS, Mr. George C. Andreas (Jr.), peacefully went to be with his Lord, surrounded by his loving family on Monday, August 11, 2003 at the tender age of 85 years; beloved husband of Mrs. Helen Andreas. He leaves to cherish his memory three daughters: Margaret (Darcy) Dewar, of Turtle Lake, SK, Marlene Andreas, of Swift Current, SK, and Judy (Lenard) Chrusch, of Medicine Hat, AB; eight grandchildren: Curtis (special friend, Jen), Lisa and her fiancé, (Sheridan), Courtney, Shelly, Carrie, Sheldon, Shannon and Christy; one great-grandchild, Mercedes; four brothers: Ben (Dorothy), of Cabri, Tom (Amelia), of Lancer, John (Kay), of Swift Current, and Bill (Sophia), of Medicine Hat; his sister, Annie (George) Helman, of Swift Current; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preddecased by his father, George Sr., and his mother, Barbara; four brothers: Joe, Pete, Steve, and Xavier; one sister, Katherine. George Andreas was born on July 8, 1918 at Lancer, SK and was educated at Level Parairie School. He married Helen Martin on June 19m 1956. George was a dedicated husband and a loving father. His passion was for the farming life, along with his sure and calm attitude he was often called upon for advice and opinion. He could converse with all people thereby making new friends easily. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved it when he could share a good joke. George had a tremendous trust in his faith for God and prayer.

GILL Edna Olga (Sukut), August 1, 1909 – August 6, 2003, of Leader, Saskatchewan . It is with great sadness that we say farewell to our Mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother, who passed away in the Leader Hospital. She was predeceased by her husband, Henry (1991); her parents, Fredrick and Salome Sukut; brothers and sisters-in-law, Rudolph (Katie), Dave ( Kate), and John. Her memory will be forever cherished by her family. She leaves to mourn her sons: Royce (Alice) – their children, Paulette (Gerry Beaudry) and boys, Mathew and Michael; Curtis (Chantal) and children, Landon and McKenna. Son, Mel (Judy) – their sons, Jody (Pascal) and daughter, Celeste; Joel and children: Alex and Elizabeth, and Trenton; brothers-in-law and sisters –in-law: John & Allda Sackman of Leader, Arthur & Rita Gill of LaCombe, AB, Herb & Viola Gill of Medicine Hat, AB, Thelma Gill of Brooks, AB, Clara Gill of LaCombe, AB, Emmanuel & Barb Gill of Hope, BC; two nieces, Esther Raugust (Sukut) and Lydia and her husband, Fred Wilhelm (Sukut); plus many other nieces and nephews. A long time resident of Leader, she moved in to the Western Senior Citizens Home in 1999. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. from Trinity Lutheran Church, Leader with Pastor Mau officiating. The pallbearers will be grandsons: Curtis Gill, Jody Gill, Joel Gill, Trenton Gill, great-grandsons, Mathew Gill and Michael Gill. The interment will be held at the Leader Cemetery, Leader, Saskatchewan. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Western Senior Citizens Home, Leader, or to the Trinity Lutheran Church, Leader, S0N 1H0. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Parkside Memorial Funeral Home, Swift Current, Saskatchewan.

DOERKSEN Mr. Henry F.
DOERKSEN Mr. Henry F., aged 78 years, passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2003 in Saskatoon. Henry and his twin brother, John, were born on October 21, 1924 in Olgafeld, South Russia. The family and their parental grandparents emigrated to Canada when the twins were one year old. In 1926 they moved to a farm 10 miles north of Eyebrow. Henry received his education at Beacon country school. The farm was very diversified and there were many chores to be done. He and his twin brother enjoyed working together. He accepted Christ in his youth and was baptized on September 22, 1947 and received membership in the Herbert M.B. Church. Henry loved reading the Bible and memorizing scripture and he loved to sing. In 1958 Henry and John and their sisters and parents moved to Herbert. The twins worked on construction and also worked for farmers. In 1968 Dad passed away and Mother took up residence in the Herbert Seniors’ Home and Henry and John made their home in the Menno Home in Waldheim where they lived until 1983 when they moved to Eventide Home in Saskatoon. John passed away on December 4, 2000. Henry resided at Eventide until it closed and he then took up residence at Circle Drive Special Care Home. Henry loved it at Circle Drive and remained a resident until his passing on July 22, 2003. Henry was predeceased by his parents, Frank F. and Helena Doerksen; grandparents; brother, Jake; twin brother, John; nephews, Lonny Doerksen and Alfred Doerksen. He leaves to mourn his brothers: Frank (Mary) Doerksen, Pete (Ruth) Doerksen, Hardy (Donna) Doerksen; sisters, Helen Doerksen and Kathy (Elmer) Gerbrandt; as well as many nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews. A family funeral service was held on Friday, July 25, 2003 at Parkside Memorial Funeral Home, Swift Current, Saskatchewan with Pastor Chad Neustaeter officiating. The burial took place at the Herbert Cemetery, Herbert, Saskatchewan. Memorial donations may be made to the Circle Drive Special Care Home at 3055 Preston Ave, Saskatoon, SK S7T 1C3. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Parkside Memorial Funeral Home, Swift Current, Saskatchewan.

SHRUMM – Melvin Donald
SHRUMM – Melvin Donald, age 61 of Hazlet, SK, a retired farmer and grader operator for the RM of Pittville, passed away on July 3, 2003 at the Prairie Health Care Centre in Cabri, SK. Mel was born September 23, 1941 in Emo, Ontario. He grew up on his parent’s farm near Stratton, Ontario and came west in 1957. Mel did farm work for Ivan Anderson of Hazlet for the next couple of years, traveling back to Stratton, to work in the bush during the winters. In 1959 Russ Johnson hired him on as a mechanic, to work at Johnson’s Garage in Hazlet. Mel married Valerie Johnson on March 22, 1963. They moved onto their farm north of Hazlet that same year. Mel and Valerie were blessed with two children, Donald Allan born in 1965 and Della Marie born in 1968. Mel farmed up until 1989 and leased out his land until 1999 at which time he then sold it; he worked for Mobil Oil as a contractor from 1978 – 1990; he did custom combining with Bruce Anderson around Taber, Alberta in 1978; and worked at the RM of Pittville from 1990 to 1997. Mel was known as a “jack of all trades”, his skills included carpentry, wood working, electrical, welding and mechanics. Mel loved his family, visiting with friends and working on his home and yard. Mel will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 40 years, Valerie; his son Donnie (Shannon); granddaughters, Jade, Marina and Skylar; daughter, Della (Drew) Roddick; mother, Ethel; brothers, Melbourne (Lavonne), Allan and Elmer; sisters, Pat Cameron and Connie Williamson; sister-in-law Joyce (Quentin) Bang; numerous nieces and nephews and his faithful companion, Spike. Mel was predeceased by his brother, Elwood; his father, Beauchamp; his father-in-law, James Russell Johnson and mother-in-law, Violla Johnson. A Memorial Service was held on Wednesday, July 9, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. from the Hazlet Community Hall with Reverend Greg Grace officiating. The organist was Terry Lou Bailey and the soloist was Fern Bang. The ushers were, Douglas Schnuth and Rodney Anderson. The honorary pallbearers were: Donnie Anderson, Carola Anderson, Barry Schnuth, Noreen Schnuth, Joyce Bang, Quentin Bang, Fern Bang, Larry Bang, Ivan Anderson, Edna Anderson, Brian Anderson, Evelyn Anderson, Richard Sylvestre and Rosalie Sylvestre. A tribute was read by Richard Sylvestre. The interment will take place at the Hazlet Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Cancer Lodge – 1036 College Drive, Saskatoon, SK S7N 0W1 or to the Hazlet Trinity United Church, Hazlet, SK. S0N 1E0. God saw him getting tired, a cure was not to be. So he wrapped him in His loving arms and whispered, “Come with me”. He suffered much in silence his spirit did not bend, he faced his pain with courage until the very end. He tried so hard to stay with us, his fight was all in vain, God took him to His loving home and freed him from all pain. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Parkside Memorial Funeral Home, Swift Current, Saskatchewan.

MORGAN Mr. Curtis Ralph
MORGAN Mr. Curtis Ralph, aged 51 years of Cabri, Saskatchewan passed away on Friday, June 20, 2003. Curtis was born in Cabri on February 7, 1952 and was baptized in the Cabri United Church in June of 1956. The next year he moved with his family to Assiniboia, Saskatchewan where he graduated in 1970 and began working at the Co-op bulk station. This was followed by a lifetime of employment in telecommunications. Curtis was an avid sportsman, excelling in school competitions; he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and later on, golf. He was very well read and had a great sense of humor. His friends and family were very important to him. He was predeceased by his father, Bernard Morgan, 1979. Curtis is survived by his children: Aylla of Red Deer, Joel and Cassandra of Grande Prairie; his mother, Nona Lucas, of Assiniboia; three brothers and five sisters: Trevor and Carol of Ottawa, Theron and Wendy of Victoria, Jeff of Grande Prairie, Heather (Harvey) Forsythe of Assiniboia, Layne (Barry) Payant of Eaton, Colorado, Vonda (Lyn) Sinclair of Limerick, Loretta and George Pryce of Regina, and Dawn Morgan of Montreal; 11 nieces and nephews; five great-nieces and nephews; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends. The Memorial service was held on Saturday, June 28, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. from Cabri United Church with Reverend Diane Eurig officiating. The organist was Lexie Culham. The eulogy was given by Fraser McLeod. The ushers were Grant McLeod and John Colpitts. Memorial donations may be made to the Cabri Community School Fund. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Parkside Memorial Funeral Home, Swift Current, Saskatchewan.

FRIESEN Mrs. Mary
FRIESEN Mrs. Mary, passed away in Kyle, Saskatchewan at the Kyle Health Care Centre on June 19, 2003 at the age of 85 years after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born on April 30, 1918 in McMahon, Saskatchewan. At the age of 22 she was baptized in the Sommerfeld Church in Wymark, Saskatchewan. On April 27, 1941 Mary married Abram Friesen and this union brought the blessing of nine children. They were married for 62 years – Dad truly was the love of her life. Mary was predeceased by her parents, Jacob and Maria Martens; four sisters; two brothers; and one son-in-law, Henry Leiding. She leaves to cherish her memory, four sons: Jake (Agnes), Abe (Sandra), Ron (Linda), Gary (Diane); five daughters: Carole Friesen, Linda Leiding, Maxine (Bruce) Letkeman, Debbie (Val) Emperingham, Louise (Lyle) Schuler; 30 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren. The funeral service was held on Tuesday, June 24, 2003 at 1:30 p.m. from the Sommerfeld Mennonite Church, Schoenfeld, SK with Reverend David Wiebe officiating. The pallbearers were grandsons: Tim Friesen, Stacey Letkeman, Steven Friesen, David Friesen, Russell Banman, Dwayne Emperingham. The honorary pallbearers were the remaining grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends. The interment was held at Schantzenfeld Cemetery. Our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother was loved and will be missed dearly. She had a special place in her heart for children, spending time with them, may it be playing games or just looking through catalogues. She made them feel loved. Anyone who came to visit was always filled to the brim with her home baking and her homemade soups. No one ever went hungry from Mom’s, she made sure of that. We were all very blessed to have had her in our lives. She has touched all our souls. We look at this not as an end but as a beginning for Mom and we will one day see you again, In God’s Heavenly Home. We love you Mom. Memorial donations may be made to the Kyle Health Care Centre. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Parkside Memorial Funeral Home, Swift Current, Saskatchewan.

PETERS Mr. Abe J.
PETERS Mr. Abe J., - January 1, 1935 – June 19, 2003. With great sadness Abe’s family announce his death after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. Celebrating his life and mourning his loss is, Corinne, his wife and closest friend for 45 years; their daughters: Brenda and her children, Jessica and Ashley, Sandra Thorburn, her husband, Dale, and their children, Austin and Derrick; and their son, Rick, his wife, Mavis, and their children, Megan, Graeme and Michael; and his mother-in-law, Melba Christensen. He has two brothers, Les (Doreen) and Len (Norma); and four sisters: Ann Sirdar, Caroline Reid, Judy Peters (Ron), and Debbie Peters; as well as one brother-in-law, Melvin (Evelyn) Christensen. His parents, Herman C. Peters and Mary Peters predeceased Abe in 1999. Abe received his education at Oman School and Swift Current Collegiate Institute. He worked for Swift Current Produce, Motorways and Jays Transport and retired in 1995. His dedication to work and service to his customers was well known to everyone. He made many friends throughout the city because of the way he did his job and treated people. Abe had a strong association with the First United Church serving on the Church Board at the time of his death, the odd job squad, ushering and working at the Fowl Suppers. He enjoyed bowling, gardening, skiing, golf, travel and most of all spending time with his grandchildren and children. The Funeral Service was held on Monday, June 23, 2003 from First United Church with Reverend John Barker officiating. The organist was John Poettcker and the soloist was Pat Smith. Allan Smith delivered the eulogy. The ushers were nephews, Norman Peters, Jason Peters, Wayne Christensen and Jim Christensen. The honorary pallbearers were all of Abe’s family and friends. The interment was held at the Cremation Section of Mount Pleasant Burial Park, Swift Current, Saskatchewan. The family gratefully requests donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the First United Church Memorial Fund. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Parkside Memorial Funeral Home, Swift Current, Saskatchewan.

KLASSEN Mrs. Anne
KLASSEN Mrs. Anne, aged 69 years of Swift Current, Saskatchewan passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2003 at the Swift Current Regional Hospital. The funeral service was held on Sunday, June 22, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. from the Community Baptist Church with Pastor Rick Williams officiating. The pianist was Nancy Peters and special music was provided by Bill and Eva Byers and Pastor Rick Williams. The ushers were, Jake Gerlach and John Giesbrecht. The pallbearers were: Lee Wall, Rodney Klassen, Don Gerlach, Darcy Wiebe, Les Wiebe and Ron Wiebe. The interment was held at Hillcrest Cemetery, Swift Current, Saskatchewan. Anne is survived by her husband, Abe; daughter, Shirley Stapleton (Rob) of Saskatoon; son, Jerry (Lorrie) of Medicine Hat; grandsons: Kelli and Sheldon Klassen, Michael Stapleton; granddaughters, Amy Norman (Jason), Tammy Stapleton; great-grandson, Troy Norman; great-granddaughters, Kasandra Norman and Emily Stapleton; two sisters; three brothers. She was predeceased by two brothers and one sister. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Parkside Memorial Funeral Home, Swift Current, Saskatchewan.
