Kyle, Helen Delores
It is with great sadness that the family of Helen Delores Kyle announces her passing on Sunday, October 9, 2011, at the age of 74 years. Delores will be lovingly remembered by her children Jay, Greg, Cathy, and Martin. Delores will also be fondly remembered by her 12 grandchildren Lauren, Alex, Natalie, Daniel, Justin, Ryan, Kyle, Carus, Beverley, James, Tiffany, and Fiona; numerous nephews, nieces, and friends. She is survived by her sister Elsie Haddow and brother Carl Selin. Delores was born Helen Delores Selin on June 7, 1937 in Camrose, Alberta. Delores spent much of her younger life in Victoria, BC. She later moved to Kingston, Ontario and met Henry Carus Kyle at the age of 23. They married and eventually moved to Lake Tahoe, California where they raised their family. In 1972, Delores and family returned to Canada—living in Salmon Arm, Kamloops, North Vancouver, Lions Bay and settling at Okotoks with her son Jay’s family in 1999. Delores blessed the world as an avid artist and spent many years developing her talent across mediums including water colour, oils, pastel, and others. Delores has proven her accomplishments as an artist with several awards and leaves an active group within the local art community. Her paintings have shown in galleries and art shows across Southern Alberta, and British Columbia. She is predeceased by her husband Henry Carus Kyle in 1991. Delores always had a quiet strength about her. She had great dignity and compassion.

Leaming, Charles Joseph
Leaming, Charles Joseph - of Calgary, passed away surrounded by his family at the Foothills Medical Centre on September 30, 2011 at the age of 52 years. Charlie will be dearly missed by his beloved wife Vicky. His step-children: Robyn, Evan, Katrina, Cooper and Justin and 4 grandchildren. Charlie will also be remembered by his siblings: Barbara (Robert) Bruce, Bev (Blair) McArthur, Bonnie (Denny) Lamb, Joe Swain and Bill Leaming as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held prior to a Evening Prayer Service at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Black Diamond, on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael’s Catholic Church on Thursday, October 6 at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Fr. Frank Feldmann celebant. If desired, memory donations may be made to the Alberta Children’s Hospital. Arrangements in care of Snodgrass Funeral Home (Okotoks). Ph. 403-938-3111.

Ledoux, Vera May - Passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the High River Hospital on Monday October 3, 2011, at the age of 83. Beloved wife of the late Percy Ledoux and loving mother to Sam (Grace) Ledoux of Cayley, Brenda Johnson of High River, Gary Ledoux of Okotoks and Bruce (Diane) Ledoux of Okotoks. Grandmother to cherished grandchildren Samantha (Frank) of Victoria B.C, Athenna (David) De La Mare, Linda (Dean) Bannerman, Wendy (LeRoy) MacKenzie, Brad Johnson all of High River, Gerry (Kim) Ledoux of Brooks, Shannon (Bill) Jenkinson of Fraser Lake B.C., Johnathan and Douglas Ledoux of Okotoks and great-grandchildren Gabrielle, Ryley and Ayden Blanchette, Dyson and Kyrah De La Mare, Taylor (Aaron) Bannerman, Morgan Bannerman, Darea, Paige, Austin MacKenzie, Jordie and Shaylee Ledoux, Jasmine, Julia, Joseph, Jaret, Jianne Jenkinson. Sadly missed by sister-in-laws Dorothy Svennes, Roberta Svennes, and Vandee Svennes.
Vera attended a one-room school in the Chinook School Region in Saskatchewan until grade 8. She then moved to Nelson B.C. and worked in the cannery. Later moving to Lethbridge and worked at the Sir Alexander Galt Hospital (in the house keeping department). She married Percy Ledoux in 1951 and they lived in Carston, New Dayton, Wrenthom, Carway, returning to New Dayton, Warner and in 1966 the family moved to Okotoks for 31 years until Percy and Vera retired to High River in 1997 and subsequently moving to the Medicine Tree Place in February of 2003 and then to the 2 floor of the High River Hospital August 2010.
Some of Vera’s special achievements were celebrating her 50 wedding anniversary with husband, Percy, making a delicious meal out of anything, working as a cook for Helen and Frank Lomenda at the White Rose Restaurant, which was awarded #1 eatery in Canada, and for Lester and Charmayne Scanlon in Okotoks for 7 years. She was well known for her knack to make the best homemade buns and bread and cinnamon buns. Her pride and joy were her family. Each one of her children, grand children and great grand children were very special to her.
She lived life to its fullest each day, always knowing what each member of the family were doing and proud of all of their accomplishments and achievements. The family were privileged to spend her last 14 hours with her as she kissed each one good- bye along with a few specially chosen words.
A celebration of Vera’s Life will be held at Snodgrass Funeral Home on Thursday October 6, 2011 at 2pm. If friends so desire donations may be made to Palliative Care c/o High River District Health Care Foundation.

Nelson, Vivian Mae
Long time resident of High River and Cayley, passed away peacefully of Friday, October 28, 2011, inthe presence of family, after a lengthy illness. She leaves behind her loving husband of nearly 56 years
and children David Nelson of Cayley, Cindy (Clarke) Peterson of Osoyoos, B.C., Sandy (Myke) Antaloczy of Golden, B.C., as well as grandchildren Kris (Carla) Nelson, Amanda Nelson, Daniel Nelson (predeceased).
Lyndsey Peterson, Brenda Peterson, Melanie Bodry, Angela Antaloczy, Mykeal (Caitlyn) Antaloczy and seven great grandchildren. Vivian is also survived by brothers and sisters Margie (Ivan) Keller of High River, Bill (Alvina) House of Creston, B.C., Glen (Caroline) House of Nanaimo, B.C., Carole (Vince) Tothe of Lethbridge, Russel (Josephine) House of Calgary, Lee (Donna) House of Duncan, B.C., and numerous nieces and nephews.
Vivian was born in High River to Frank and Michelena House June 14, 1939, where she was raised until she met her husband Roy Nelson of High River, December 6, 1955. Vivian was employed at Eamor’s Saddlery for several years and then took up upholstery work from her home, beginning in High River. She continued to do upholstery work after moving to the farm, where she always wanted to be. As one of the five members of ‘The Jorstad Orchestra,’ she enjoyed playing the piano at the old time dances held in the High Wood Memorial Center. She will be sadly missed and will hold a very special place in our hearts. Friends and family are welcome to come by for coffee and visit anytime. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the High River District Health Care Foundation 560 - 9 Ave. S.W. High River, Alberta T1V 1B3

Porter, Alan James
Alan passed away on November 1, 2011 at the age of 34 years.
Alan is survived by his loving parents Marsha and Bob, sister Susan (Kurt), brother Scott, nephews Kane and Reid and niece Madi and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Alan will be missed and forever loved by his family.
A Celebration of Alan’s life will be held at Snodgrass Funeral Home Okotoks on Monday November 7, 2011 at 1:00 p.m.

Ross, Edward James
After 77 years spent haying, seeding, harvesting, tending livestock, watching sunsets, loving, laughing, playing word games, building projects and trying to be the best friend, neighbour, lover and husband he could be and beloved slave to his dog Jessie and numerous cats. Ed drifted off to his eternal home, without pain, in the arms of his loving wife Joyce, and consoled by his friends Sharon and Joan. He is survived by his wife; Joyce, his sisters; Mable Wolford, Mary Sneidmiller, Louella Conway, Marg (Ches) Bell, and Ethel (Roy) Walden. He was predeceased by his parents; William and Anges, his brothers; Joe, Lloyd, Bill, Jack, Don and Andy and sisters; Violet and Irene. Schmitke, Benjamin
Benjamin Schmitke passed away suddenly but peacefully at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary on October 28, 2011 at the age of 84 years. Ben is survived by his children Linda (Leon), Helen (Mario), Harvey (Connie), Melanie (Kory), eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, sisters Marian, Emma (Eric), numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and all of his extended family. Ben was born near Black Diamond and the family then moved to Strathmore where he met the love of his life, Olive and they made their home east of Black Diamond operating Benher Dairy Farms for 29 years. Over the years they downsized work load and home until finally settling for winters in Sidney, B.C. and summers in Alberta. Ben loved travelling, wood working and spending time visiting with family and friends. Always a smile and full of humour, wonderful son, brother, uncle, husband, father, grand-father, great-grandfather and above all friend. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Mountain View Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Sheep River Health Trust, Oilfields General Hospital, P.O. Bag #1, Black Diamond, A.B. AHLF, MARGUERITE MILLICENT
It is with great sadness that the family of Marguerite Ahlf announce her passing on July 26th, 2009 at Edson, Alberta . Marguerite was 89 years old.
Marguerite is survived by her loving family; sons, Charles Robert (Annette) Ahlf of Edmonton, Alberta, Doug (Jean) Ahlf of Edson, Alberta, Arthur White Owl (AKA Ken Ahlf) (Jeannette Stabile) of Spruce Grove and John Brian (Lawreen) Ahlf of Peers, Alberta. She is survived by one sister, Mary Parsons of Westlock, Alberta . Marguerite also leaves behind her wonderful 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren who she loved so much.
Marguerite was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Rosa Grasby, and one brother Ken Grasby.
Memorial services for Marguerite were held on July 30, 2009 at the Edson Mennonite Church at 11:00 AM with Pastor Raul Gurdian officiating the service.
Cremation has taken place.
In lieu of a floral tribute the family asks that a donation be made in Marguerite’s memory to the Surprise Lake Society,
Box 2391, Stony Plain, Alberta, T7Z 1X8.

CARLTON , KENNETH IAN
With a heavy heart, the family of Ken Carlton of Edson, Alberta announces his passing at home on July 26, 2009. Ken was 61 years old.
Left to mourn his loss and cherish his memory is his loving family; daughter, Sandy (Matt) Carlton and their daughter Lily of Drayton Valley, Bobby (Cassie) Carlton and their son Liam of Red Deer, Alberta, and son Jimmy Carlton of Red Deer, Alberta . Ken is also survived by his step mother Rena of Ontario and one sister, Dianne (Bill) Evans of Kanata, Ontario. Ken leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews and a host of good friends.
Ken was predeceased by his parents, Herbert and Gertrude Carlton.
Memorial services were held on Friday, July 31, 2009 at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 51 in Edson, Alberta at 1:00 PM with Worship Leader Kimberly Roy having presided over the service. Cremation has taken place.
In lieu of a floral tribute the family suggests that a donation be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta & N.W.T. 10985 - 124 Street Edmonton, Alberta, T5M 0H9 , in Ken’s memory.
