SAUL LASKER Passed away on November 3, 2004 in Los Angeles at the age of 92. Born in Winnipeg on August 12, 1912. Survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Tillie; son and daughter-in-law, Martin and Jill Lasker; daughter and son-in-law, Penny and Guy Sax; grandchildren, Pepper (Dan) Starobin, Kasey Sax, Jodi and Zachary Lasker; great-grandchildren, Madison and Katie Starobin. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Harry and Annette Lasker, and his sister Rose Nemy, all of Winnipeg, and many loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Lil Shapiro, in 1993. Saul will be remembered for his strength, his impish humour, his taciturn manner, and the loving and playful times he spent with all of the children who shared his journey, first his children, nieces and nephews, then his grandchildren and great-nieces and nephews, and finally his great-granddaughters. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Los Angeles Jewish Home for the Aging, 7150 Tampa Ave., Reseda, CA 91335. Funeral services were held on Friday, November 5, at Eden Memorial in Mission Hills, CA.

DOLORES IRENE (TRUDY) MCDONALD Peacefully on November 13, 2004 at the Victoria General Hospital our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, passed away with her beloved family at her side. Mom was born
February 18, 1929 the eldest of four children to Peter and Mabel Udell in Brandon, MB. In 1949 she met the love of her life Thomas Patrick McDonald. They were married
in Winnipeg on September 1, 1950, where they remained together until Dad's passing. Mom will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her family; daughter Katherine Ahlbaum (Gord Courage); son Jim (Audrey); son Tim; daughter Shannon Ward (Peter) and daughter Kelly Jamieson (Dan); grandchildren, Cory, Riley (Corey), Raegan, Tara (Chris), Shelley (Kris), Stephanie, and Kendall; great-grandchildren, Joshua, Jordan, Jessica, Brady, Tanner, Payton, Brodie and Jaxxon. Also left to mourn her passing are brothers, Del Udell (Joy) and Don Udell (Sandra); as well as several nieces, nephews and friends. Special cousin Isla Kadas will miss Mom dearly. Mom was predeceased by her husband Thomas in 1992; father Peter Udell in 1976; mother Mabel Janz in 1991; step-father Roy Janz in 1994; and brother Ralph Udell in 1998. A special thank you to all of the staff at the Victoria General Hospital for the care and compassion they extended to Mom and her family. Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 18 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Viewing will begin at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens with Audrey McDonald, Peter Ward, Dan Jamieson, Gord Courage, Cory Ahlbaum and Patrick McDonald serving as Pallbearers. RICHARD GLEN McDOUGALL Richard Glen McDougall passed away peacefully in his Salmon Arm, BC home on November 10, 2004 at the age of 60 years, following a brief battle with cancer. Born and raised in Manitoba, Rick worked as a protection technologist for Manitoba Hydro, BC Hydro, Sceco and Alcan Aluminum. Spending time with family and friends was very important to Rick. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, curling and working in his garden. Rick is survived by his wife Dolores; children, Kevin (Peggy), Cameron (Tanya), Andrea and Bonnie (Ron); grandchildren, Natalie, Tashia, Travis, Mikayla and Willow; his brothers, Kent, Bill (Marg), Don, Ken (Diane) and Doug (Geri); stepbrother Bruce; his sisters, Sandy (Dave) and Chris (Sonny). He will also be sadly missed by uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and extended in-law family (Fontiane). A memorial service was held on Saturday, November 13 at Fischer's Funeral Services, Salmon Arm, with Pastor Sheldon Carlson officiating. Interment of cremated remains at Green Acres Cemetery in Winnipeg will be held on Wednesday, November 17 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Jean Fontaine officiating, a reception will follow. EILEEN ANNE NICKLE (WORTLEY) July 18, 1925 - November 12, 2004 Suddenly on November 12, 2004, Eileen Anne Nickle passed away at her residence. Eileen was predeceased by her husband Millan Rigby Nickle on September 13, 2003. She is survived by her son Thomas (Diane) and daughter Janice Golas; grandchildren, Sherri (Garner) Donnell, Corri (Chris), Ryan (Martina); great-granddaughters, Dayna and Sierra Donnell and Emily Nickle and sister Margaret Brown. Eileen was born
in Winnipeg and raised on Lipton Street with her four sisters. Eileen graduated from Daniel McIntyre Collegiate and started working at Great West Saddlery. There she met her life long partner Millan and they were married
on June 29, 1946. Eileen's early career was family focused with the arrival of their children. Many happy memories were enjoyed at the family home on Washington Avenue where they resided for 54 years. In the late 1950's Eileen returned to the work force and enjoyed many years at Winnipeg Supply and Eaton's Mail Order. She was a huge presence in her children's and grandchildren's lives and always was there when needed. Eileen was outgoing, kindhearted and always willing to lend a hand. She was the life of the party and leader on the dance floor. Eileen's love for food was well known to all friends and family and she was always starting a diet on "Monday". Eileen always felt fortunate to be a cancer survivor for over 35 years. Her memories will be cherished; she will be missed and always loved. A memorial service will be held at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Ave. on Friday, November 19 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook Ave., Winnipeg, MB.

JOHN PALAMAR John Palamar, aged 73 years, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 14, 2004 at the Poseidon Care Centre. John was predeceased by his wife Louella in 1994. John is survived by his son Jeff (Angela McBride), granddaughter Bailey, brother Ed Palamar (Lorraine) and his twin sister Josie Palamar. Cremation has taken place and, as John would have preferred, there will be a private service for immediate family. J. MICHAEL POIRIER (MITCH) Peacefully, on Friday, November 12, 2004, Michael passed away at the Health Sciences Centre, at the age of 77. He leaves to cherish his memory his sisters, Angeline Mager and Therese (Archie) Voyer; one brother John (Flora) Poirier; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Born in Lorette, MB, Michael moved to Winnipeg with his family at an early age. He attended Provencher School then began to work, first for CN and later as a power engineer for the Federal Civil Service. He was an active third degree member of the Knights of Columbus (Council No. 0370) and was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. Uncle Mitch was a soft-spoken, kind, generous, very private and independent man. He loved to spend time at his summer place, fishing, entertaining family and friends and enjoying the beauty of the outdoors. His quiet humour and easy smile will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church, 510 River Ave. on Wednesday, November 17 with Fr. Sam Argenziano presiding. Interment and reception will follow at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. The Poirier family would like to thank Michael's special friend Doris Pahl for her kindness to him during his illness. She will be remembered by her children and grandchildren, Ron (Mikel and Marc), Jacqueline and Victor Lemoine (Rob, Chantal, Jean-Paul and Chris), Guy and Angele (Nathalie and Benoit), Bernard and Micheline (Chloe and Cadie) and Nicole (Stephanie and Zachary); great-grandchildren, Kiana Rivard and Ezekeil Lemoine; her sisters, Alice Tomac, Imelda Delorme, Laurette St. Hilaire; and numerous nieces and nephews. KUNNIGUNDA (GUNDA) SCHIFKE 1932 - 2004 Peacefully on November 12, 2004 at the age of 71 years, Gunda passed away at the Concordia Hospital with family at her side. Remaining to cherish her loving memory is her husband of 52 years Karl; sons, Norbert (Correen), Hermann (Judy), Gerhard (Kim); daughter Elisabeth (Gary); son-in-law Barry; grandchildren, Cheryl (Dennis), Karl, Billy, Bret, Ryan, Shauna (Emil), Jennifer; and four great-grandchildren. December 30, 1932 in Munchhernsdorf Germany to Elisabeth and Jakob Friedrich. She met, fell in love and married
Karl in 1952 and in 1958 immigrated to Canada to start a new life with her family. She spent her years in Winnipeg where she worked as a seamstress until her retirement. Mom will always be remembered for her famous cheese cake, Sunday dinners and the ability to sew whatever, whenever the need arose. Her family was her life and we thank her for her unconditional love. Mom was predeceased by her youngest daughter Hannelore, her brother Herman and mother and father. The family would like to thank the staff at Concordia Hospital for their care and compassion given to our mother. She also left eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. STANLEY (STANISLAW) WABIA September 1, 1915 - November 13, 2004 Peacefully on November 13, 2004, Stanley passed away at the Seven Oaks Hospital at the age of 89 years. Stanley is survived by Joseph (Pauline) Sawchuk, Reg (Gerry) Moroz, Kristie (Chris) Chartier, of Winnipeg, Kelly Moroz of Calgary; he is also survived by nephews, nieces and cousins in Poland. He was predeceased by his parents, Jakoba and Kataryny Wabia, and a brother and sister. Stanley was born
in Wilczyce, Poland and came to Winnipeg in 1947. He worked at the CNR railway plant until retirement in 1980. He was a member of the Holy Ghost Fraternal Aid Society for many years. Stanley attended the North Y Senior Centre twice a week as he loved to swim. The family would like to thank the staff on Unit 5 and Unit 1 of the 5th floor of the Seven Oaks Hospital for all their care and compassion. Special thanks to Dr. Tsang and his nurse Vera for their support. MILDRED WALLACE Mildred Christie Wallace passed away at the Tuxedo Villa on Thursday, November 11, 2004. She was born
in 1907 in Winnipeg, MB to Harry and Mary Eleanor Wallace. Mildred was predeceased by two brothers, Kenneth in 2001 and Howard who died of the result of an accident at age six years. She is survived by two nephews, Ralph from Calgary and Robert from Vancouver. Mildred became a teacher at the age of 17 years. She spent her first eight years teaching in the Antelope Saskatchewan District, starting in Stone Cliff, Grain Belt and Kemmel Hill schools. In 1933, she moved back to Winnipeg and served as a resource teacher for the next 40 years, travelling from school to school. There was nothing Mildred liked better than to talk about the hard times and the good times of the "Little Red School House".
