Albert 'A.L.' Thompson

Funeral services for Albert "A.L." Thompson, 80, of Fairfield will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Temple Baptist Church.

Robert D. Lewis will officiate. Burial will be in Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery with full military honors.

Mr. Thompson died April 8, 1999, in his home after a long illness.

Born May 2, 1918, in Big Eddy, Ore., he lived in Fairfield for 44 years. He worked as an aircraft maintenance superintendent at Travis Air Force Base before retirement, and retired as a chief master sergeant. He was a veteran of World War II, and retired from a second career at California Medical Facility. He was a longtime member and deacon of Temple Baptist Church.

Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife, Alice of Fairfield; sons, Gerald of Ely, Nev.; sister, Florence Van Gaasbeck of Baker City, Ore.; and brother, James L. of Gillette, Wyo.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday in Fairfield Funeral Home.

Linda Joan DePianto

Linda Joan DePianto, a tireless volunteer in many community organizations and one who helped establish Notre Dame Parochial School in Vacaville, died Saturday in Sacramento after a long illness. She was 55.

A Bay Area native, she was born July 10, 1943, in Albany. Mrs. DePianto came to Vacaville 20 years ago. She was constantly involved in civic activities, devoting time and energy to her family, church and community. She contributed to more than 15 local and regional organizations.

She was a longtime volunteer in the reading program and other activities at Markham Elementary School. She and her husband were involved in the organization and formation of Notre Dame School, a Catholic Church elementary school in south Vacaville.

Mrs. DePianto also supported Children's Hospital of Oakland, the Acorn Branch, Children's Network of Solano County, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Vacaville's Festival of Trees, St. Mary's Catholic Church Food Locker and Grad Night at Vacaville High School.

She was a member of the California Teachers Association, Fratalanza Club of Oakland, School Attendance Review Board of the Vacaville Unified School District and St. Jerome's Catholic Church of El Cerrito.

Mrs. DePianto is survived by her husband, Ennio of Vacaville; parents, Joseph and Dominica Bernardi of Vacaville; daughter, Marisa of Suisun City; and sons, Daryle and David, both of Vacaville.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 6 p.m. Tuesday in St. Mary's Catholic Church. The Rev. Vincent O'Reilly of St. Mary's will officiate. Interment will be private at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Nadeau Family Funeral Home, 180 E. Monte Vista Ave. The rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.

Memorial contributions can be made to Children's Hospital of Oakland, the Acorn Branch, Breast Cancer Research Foundation or the American Cancer Society, in care of Ruth Bradanini, 290 Fruitvale Ave., Vacaville, 95688.

Francis M. Gomos

A mass of the Resurrection for Francis M. Gomos, 55, of Vacaville will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Father Leo Tubbs will officiate. Interment will follow at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery, and friends can then gather at St. Mary's Parish Center.

Born Oct. 3, 1943, in the Philippines, Mr. Gomos died April 9, 1999, in Vacaville.

Mr. Gomos was employed by several firms, but most recently by Goodwill Industries where he was a supervisor. He recently moved to the area from Colorado Springs,  Colo., to be closer to his sister and family.

A member of the Santo Nino de Cubu Society, he also joined the Charismatic Prayer Group. He had many friends and family with him during his last month, and his family said he had a way of changing people's lives.

He is survived by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Lourdes and Deogracias Baliquia of Daly City, and Jean and Manolo Tolentino of Vacaville; sister, Grace Yabo of Livonia, Mich; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

A visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Nadeau Family Funeral Home with a rosary at 7 p.m., and another visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at St. Mary's church with a rosary at 7 p.m.

Betty Bingaman

Funeral services for Betty Bingaman, 55, of Dixon will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Milton Carpenter Funeral Home.

The Rev. Rich Frazier will officiate. Burial will follow the ceremony at the Silveyville Cemetery.

Mrs. Bingaman died April 9, 1999, in Davis of a sudden illness.

Born July 16, 1943, in Dixon, Mrs. Bingaman was a homemaker and lived in Dixon her whole life. She also once belonged to Dixon's chapter of Women of the Moose.

She is survived by her daughter, Lanette Bingaman-Rodriguez of Dixon; son, Jason Bingaman of Dixon; grandchildren, Maressa Rodriguez and Ruben Rodriguez of Dixon; sisters, Virginia Borrelli of Dixon, Corlene Blaylock of Davis, Rosalind Vostinak of Newport, Ore., Marilyn Luna of Dixon, and Cheryl Fanning of Dixon; and brother, Bud Fanning of Dixon.

A visitation is scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Rosemary Ann Blase

Funeral services for Rosemary Ann Blase, 66, of Vacaville will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in McCune Garden Chapel.

The Rev. Keith Knauph will officiate.

Mrs. Blase died April 10, 1999, in Vacaville of a sudden illness.

Born on July 14, 1932, in New York, Mrs. Blase was a secretary for the California Department of Rehabilitation and lived in Vacaville for the past two years. She loved her home and enjoyed gardening.

Mrs. Blase is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Roseanne and Stephen Pavlech of Fair Oaks; son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and JoAnne Kayo of Las Vegas; daughter and son-in-law, Lorraine and Mark Fairbanks of Vacaville; son, George of Calaveras; and six grandchildren.

Carmen Ellasces Campos

Funeral services for Carmen Ellasces Campos, 71, of Vacaville will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Mary's Catholic Church.

The Rev. Leo Tubbs will officiate. Burial will be in Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Mrs. Campos died suddenly on April 10, 1999, at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Vallejo.

Born April 26, 1927, in Vacaville to Mary and Juan Ellasces, she worked for Basic American Vegetable for 10 years.

Mrs. Campos is survived by husband, John Campos of Vacaville; daughter and son-in-law, Star Carrington Moore and Gary Moore of Vacaville; grandchildren, Gary Moore Jr. and Chance Moore of Vacaville; sisters, Antoinette Perez, Mary Castano, Ann Silva, and Jane Garcia of Vacaville; brother, John Ellasces of Vacaville; uncle, August Garrido of Vallejo; and great-grandchildren, Thomas, Jordan, and Brandi Moore of Vacaville.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Constance Rodriguez.

Visitation is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at McCune Garden Chapel, and a rosary will be said at 7 p.m.

John Jesse Chilson Sr.

Funeral services for John Jesse Chilson Sr., 75, of Fairfield will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Spirit Church, 1050 North  Texas St., Fairfield.

The Rev. Michael Downey will officiate.

Burial will follow at the Fairfield-Suisun Cemetery.

Mr. Chilson died April 11, 1999, at his home in Fairfield.

Born Oct. 22, 1923, in Mason City, Iowa, Mr. Chilson served as a merchant marine in World War II. He later worked for the United States Postal Service in Fairfield for 35 years before retiring. He also worked as a security guard for Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Vallejo and a Kaiser clinic in Fairfield for 12 1/2 years.

Mr. Chilson is survived by his sons, John Jr., Larry, Tom and Jack, all of Fairfield; daughters-in-law, Carol and Susan, also of Fairfield; daughters, Debbie Burton of Suisun, Jeannie Powell of Fairfield and Darlene Caywood of Massachusetts; sons-in-law, Darril Powell of Fairfield and Jared Caywood of Massachusetts; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Millie, in 1997.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a vigil service at 7 p.m. on Thursday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home, 1850 W.  Texas St., Fairfield.

Memorial contributions can be sent to the American Cancer Society, 1652 W.  Texas St., Suite 110, Fairfield, 94533.

Clara Mae Gatlin-Davis

Funeral services for Clara Mae Gatlin-Davis, 76, of Suisun City will be 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Peter CME Church, El Cerrito.

The Rev. Lawrence Lakey of the church and the Rev. Melvin Williams of St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Richmond will officiate.

Burial will be in Rolling Hills Memorial Park in Richmond.

Born June 30, 1922, in McComb, Miss., she died April 9, 1999, in Sunrise Health Care Center in Fairfield after a long illness. She lived in Suisun eight years after being an Oakland resident 50 years.

She worked as a food service employee at the University of California, Berkeley, for 23 years. She retired in 1986.

She was a member of St. Peter CME Church and enjoyed sewing, cooking and traveling.

Mrs. Gatlin-Davis is survived by daughters, Denise Huerls and Veronica Cooper of Suisun; sons, Glen of Vallejo and Carmichael and Alan, both of Fairfield; sisters, Anna Brumfield and Eddye Ruth, both of Milwaukee, and Ruth Todd of Fairfield; brothers, Will and Ernest McDowell of McComb, Billy, Robert, Jessie and Charles McDowell of Milwaukee and Jimmy McDowell of Detroit; 20 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Wednesday, in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Veronica Gray

Funeral services for Veronica Gray, 80, of Hayward will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph Catholic Church.

The Rev. Vincent O'Reilly will officiate.

Mrs. Gray died April 8, 1999, in Fremont.

Born Jan. 5, 1919, in Australia, Mrs. Gray was the manager of the Alameda Naval Air Station base exchange for 25 years. She enjoyed gardening in her yard and liked to baby-sit.

She is survived by her son, Richard Gray of Vacaville; daughter, Louise Perry of Vacaville; sister, Patricia Walters of Australia; brother, Leo Moy of Australia; four grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

A visitation is scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the McCune Garden Chapel, and a rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m.

Burial in the Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery will follow the funeral.

Memorial contributions can be made to the donor's favorite charity.

Joe L. Lopez

A memorial service will be held for Joe L. Lopez, 74, of Vacaville at 2 p.m. today at the McCune Garden Chapel.

A rosary was held Monday.

Mr. Lopez died of heart failure on April 7, 1999, in Vacaville. He was born Aug. 19, 1924, in Mexico.

He served for 25 years in the U.S. armed forces, both during World War II and the Korean War. He retired from the military as a police technical sergeant. He later retired from the Basic Vegetable Plant after 20 years of service.

He was well known in Vacaville for his beautiful artwork, especially his wood-carved walking sticks. He also left some of his artwork on napkins in restaurants. Those works included drawings of waitresses, customers, children, horses or beautiful women.

He was an avid walker and always used his walking stick.

Mr. Lopez is survived by his daughters, Melodie of Santa Rosa and Brigette of Petaluma; sons, Tom Lopez Cowgill of Santa Rosa, Russ of Reno, Dan of Vacaville and Andre of Santa Rosa.

Jean E. Perrin

A memorial service for Jean E. Perrin, 74, of Fairfield will be 2 p.m. April 24 in Unity Church of the Valley.

The Rev. Vic Jenkins will officiate. Disposition will be private.

Mrs. Perrin died April 3, 1999, in Fairfield after a short illness.

Born Jan. 5, 1925, in Santa Barbara, she lived in Fairfield for 43 years. She was a native of Santa Barbara and attended schools in that city from kindergarten until she graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Mrs. Perrin worked several years for the state of California in the welfare department. She taught in Fairfield schools for many years, retiring as a reading specialist in 1990. She was a member of P.E.O., Sisterhood Chapter RR, Delta Kappa Gamma, Delta Xi Chapter, The Phoenix Society, California Retired Teachers Association, California Reading Association and Unity Church of the Valley.

Mrs. Perrin is survived by her daughter, Nancy MacPherson of San Rafael; son-in-law, John MacPherson of San Rafael; and numerous cousins around the world.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, 1652 W.  Texas St. No. 110, Fairfield 94533; Unity Church of the Valley, 350 N. Orchard Ave., Vacaville 95688; or the charity of your choice.
