James H. 'Howdy' Rogers
Services for James Howard "Howdy" Rogers, 86, of Vacaville will be 1 p.m. Monday at McCune Garden Chapel. Burial will follow at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.
Born Jan. 10, 1912, in Vacaville, Mr. Rogers died Jan. 6, 1999, in Vacaville.
Born to a pioneer family, he was a prominent rancher and civic leader in Solano County his entire life. After attending and graduating from local schools, he went on to attend Stanford University before returning to his ranch home during the Great Depression, where he stayed his entire life.
Mr. Rogers was a founding director of the Vacaville Fire District, later serving as director of District No. 3. He was also a member of the Solano County Planning Commission, the Vacaville Cemetery
Board, was director of Intercommunity Hospital board and the Prune Board and various other volunteer positions.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Vera of Vacaville; sons, Charles Rogers and Frank Neitzel, both of Vacaville, and Joseph Nietzel of Suisun Valley; grandsons, Michael Ohnsat and James Rogers of Vacaville, Lewis Neitzel of Modesto; granddaughters, Sondra Rogers and Heather Gerue of Vacaville, Cynthia Neitzel of Richmond, Jennifer Neitzel and Tiffany Gerue of American Canyon, and Lisa Hayes of Reno; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Nathan of Dixon and Robert of Vacaville.
Visitation will be 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at McCune Garden Chapel.

Rose Ramsey Tytler
At the request of Rose Ramsey Tytler, 89, of Vacaville, there will be private family services held. Inurnment will be in Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.
Mrs. Tytler died Wednesday, Jan. 6, 1999, in Vacaville after a sudden illness.
Born July 7, 1909, in Wathena, Kan., she lived in Vacaville for 41 years. She worked for Pacific Bell Telephone Co. for 45 years as a telephone operator in the Solano area.
Mrs. Tytler is survived by her grandchildren, Dawn Gagnon of Oregon, James of Washington, Tracy and Corey, both of Vacaville, and Stefanie Robertson of Fairfield; great-great grandchildren, Vickie Schoonover of Washington, Moria Gagnon of Oregon, Christopher Gagnon of Oregon, Dyana of Vacaville, and Kendra and Constance, both of Washington; and one great-great granddaughter, Justice Schoonover.

Herbert C. Fortune
Funeral services for Herbert C. Fortune, 77, of Suisun will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in Allen Temple Baptist Church in Oakland.
Dr. J. Alfred Smith Sr. will preside. Interment will be in Golden Gate National Cemetery
in San Bruno.
Mr. Fortune died Jan. 6, 1999, in the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Martinez after a long illness.
Born Jan. 27, 1921, in Bivins, Texas, he lived in Suisun for nine years. He served with the Army, was a veteran of World War II, served in the medical corps in New Guinea, worked as a psychiatric nursing assistant at the VA Hospital in Martinez for 31 years and retired in 1977.
He served as deacon at Allen Temple Baptist Church in Oakland for 20 years. He was active in Sunday School and Prayer Warriors at Grace Baptist Church in Suisun, and was a member of Full Gospel Business Mens Association, Oakland Chapter.
Mr. Fortune is survived by his wife, Johnnie V. of Suisun City; chosen daughters and sons-in-law, Sheryl Casteel Baltrip and Connie, Gia Casteel Brown and Mark, all of Oakland; sisters, Oneida Tolbert, Betty Anthony and Theresa Hawkins, all of Los Angeles; brother, Royce of Los Angeles; and grandson, Marc Alexander Brown of Oakland.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.
Arlen H. Alberts
Funeral services for Arlen H. Alberts, 60, of Fairfield will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Oakmont Memorial Park & Mortuary in Lafayette.
The Revs. Don Spradling, Glenn Marks and Walter Spradling will preside.
Mr. Alberts died Jan. 9, 1999, of heart failure in Fairfield.
Born March 13, 1938, in Manterville, Minn., he lived in Fairfield for 34 years. He owned and operated Alberts Trucking for the past 34 years.
Mr. Alberts is survived by his wife of 34 years, Winnoma; son, Larry Alberts of Springfield, Ore.; daughters, Judy Niehaus of Edwards Air Force Base, Jo Brooks of Concord, Sheri Tofflemoyer of Springfield, Ore., and Marilyn Nicholas; 12 grandchildren; brothers, Everett and Daryl; sisters, Fern Schultz, Clyda Sanders, Janet Collins, Rita Marks and Nila Toftdahl. He was preceded in death by a son, Douglas Arlen Alberts in 1978.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Oakmont Memorial Park & Mortuary in Lafayette.
Bessie Priscilla Hansen
Funeral services for Bessie Priscilla Hansen, 89, of Fairfield will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hansen died Jan. 9, 1999, in Sunrise-La Mariposa Nursing Center after a short illness.
Born May 3, 1909, in Waverly, Kan., she lived in Fairfield for four years. She previously lived for 18 years in La Crescenta, 10 years in Balwin Park and 30 years in Nebraska City, Neb. She was a homemaker all her adult life.
Mrs. Hansen is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Lloyd and Shirley Branson of Rock Port, Mo., Charles and Virginia Branson, Tom and Judy Fenton, all of Fairfield, and Paul and Toni Fenton of Carpinteria; daughter-in-law, Lucille Banson of Minneapolis, Minn.; 20 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husbands, Lester Branson, Barry Fenton and Rudolph Hansen; son, Howard Branson; her parents; seven sisters and two brothers.

Born Nov. 14, 1935, in Codel, Okla., he lived in Dixon for 50 years. He worked as a truck driver for Mistler Brothers for 30 years.
Mr. Harris is survived by his wife, Lucille of Dixon; sons and daughters-in-law, Steve of Oregon, Alan and Sandy of Oregon, Kenny and Diane of Dixon, Leo and Julia Maestas of Dixon and Johnny and Jayme of Dixon; daughter-in-law, Carol Maestas of Dixon; brother and sister-in-law, Howard and Wende of Dixon; sister, Dorcie Stovall of Dixon; 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, sister Sharon and brother Larry.
John W. 'JW' Moore
Funeral services for John W. "JW" Moore, 53, of Indianapolis will be noon Wednesday in Vaca Hills Chapel.

Mr. Moore died Jan. 8, 1999, in Wishard Hospital in Indianapolis after a sudden illness.
Born Jan. 2, 1946, in Skowhegan, Maine, he was a past resident of Vacaville and resided in Indianapolis. He was an aircraft mechanic for United Airlines for 10 years. He retired from the Air Force as master sergeant. He was a veteran of Vietnam, serving in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the Gold Wing Roadriders Chapter F2.
Mr. Moore is survived by his wife, Kathy of Indianapolis; daughter, Margaret Amy Moore of Vacaville; son, John of Vacaville; sister, Alice of Maine; grandson, Skyler of Vacaville.
Visitation will be held 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday in Vaca Hills Chapel.
Diosdado D. Narag
Funeral Mass for Diosdado D. Narag, 36, of Fairfield will be 10:30 a.m. Friday in Holy Spirit Catholic Church.

Mr. Narag died unexpectedly Jan. 9, 1999, in Pinole.
Born Dec. 28, 1962, in the Philippines, he lived in Fairfield for five years. He worked as a correctional officer at San Quentin for 12 years. He served in the U.S. Army, retired as a staff sergeant.
Mr. Narag is survived by his wife, Marilyn of Fairfield; daughters, Michelle and Justine, both of Fairfield; sons, Diosdado "Jake" of Fairfield; parents, Marciano and Corazon of the Philippines; sisters, Marivic Baluyot, Marilou Ramos, Ellen Sison and Gigi Horton, all of Fairfield; brothers, Rocky of Fairfield and Lito of Vallejo.

Madelyn Williams Oliver
Graveside services for Madelyn Williams Oliver, 80, of Fairfield will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery.

Mrs. Oliver died Jan. 8, 1999, in NorthBay Medical Center after a short illness.
Born Jan. 4, 1919, in Napa, she was a lifelong resident of Fairfield. She graduated from San Jose State University with a degree in education. She was the court clerk of the Green Valley Judicial District of Solano County for six years, retiring in 1962, and a homemaker. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Sigma Sorority, the Crystal Rebekah Lodge No. 46 since 1947, member and past regent chief, Solano Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution since 1968, charter member of the Napa Valley Genealogical and Biographical Society, member of the Solano County Genealogical Society, and member of the David Brier Chapter, United States Daughters of the War of 1812.
Mrs. Oliver is survived by her son, Thomas W. of Oregon; sons and daughters-in-law, John C. and Gail, Paul D. and Pauline, all of Fairfield; grandchildren, Tim, Christina and Anne, all of Fairfield, John W. of San Francisco, Jeanette of Virginia and Sandra D. Bush of Kentucky; four great-grandchildren.

Born March 17, 1968, in David Grant Medical Center, he lived in Vacaville all of his life.
Mr. Rouse is survived by his wife, Julie of Colorado; sons, Stephen, Derek and Sean of Colorado; daughter, Andrea of Colorado; parents, Norma and Bill of San Diego; sister, Anna Estrada of Vacaville; and daughter, Stephanie of Fairfield.

Ralph Klemm
Funeral services for Ralph Klemm, 88, of Fairfield will be 11 a.m. Friday at Melrose Abbey Memorial Park in Anaheim. Interment will follow.
Mr. Klemm died Jan. 6, 1999, in NorthBay Medical Center after a short illness.
Born Jan. 23, 1910, in California, he lived in Fairfield for 14 years. He owned one of the first motels in Cypress, which served Knott's Berry Farm and Disneyland. He also worked for Stoner Rubber Company for many years. He served as a deacon and treasurer at Bethel Baptist Church in Anaheim, and was a member of the Rockville Presbyterian Fellowship in Suisun.
Mr. Klemm was an enthusiastic gardener. He enjoyed traveling and reading.
Mr. Klemm is survived by his daughters, Sharon Molin of Suisun and Betty Laker of Long Beach; three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Louise, in 1988.

Mrs. Penrod is survived by sons, Burl McLaughlin Jr. of Dixon and Floyd McLaughlin Sr. of Wilton; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Pederson died Jan. 14, 1999, in Fairfield after a long illness.
Born Jan. 30, 1915, in Cass Lake, Minn., she resided in Fairfield for one year. Previously she had lived in Novato for 28 years.
She worked in business in Minnesota for 10 years before marrying John Pederson. She has devoted herself to her family since then.
She was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Novato, served as an officer of various officers' wives clubs and other women's groups as she moved through the country following her husband's military career.
Mrs. Pederson is survived by her husband of 53 years, John of Fairfield; daughter, Sara Jo Pederson-Hastin of Bedford, Texas; sons, Gary B. of Middleburg, Va., Ross of Fallbrook and Dale of San Ramon; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
