Armeda Merkley Bergener
Funeral services for Armeda Merkley Bergener, 74, of Fairfield will be 10 a.m. today at McCune Garden Chapel in Vacaville.
The Rev. Jim Innes of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will preside. Burial will follow in the Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.
Born Feb. 26, 1923, in Maeser, Utah, Mrs. Bergener died May 31, 1997, in Fairfield after a short illness.
Mrs. Bergener was a department manager for Builders Emporium for eight years, and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.
She lived in Vacaville for 35 years and enjoyed sewing and camping.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Max of Vacaville; sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Karen of Vacaville, and Randall and Cindy of Wisconsin; daughters and sons-in-law, Raye Ann McDowell of Vacaville, Jackie and Dave Mongle of Texas, Eileen and Pat Foley of Colorado, and Carolyn of Vacaville; brother Kenneth Merkley of California; sisters, Lucille Terry, Nila Luchies and Marynell Snow of Utah and Norma Goodrich of Colorado; 15 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation was Monday in McCune Garden Chapel.
Newel Grant Eliason
Funeral services for Newel Grant Eliason, 88, of Vacaville, will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Vacaville.
Bishop Paul Hom of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later-Day Saints will officiate.
Burial will be in Logan City Cemetery, Utah.
Mr. Eliason died June 1, 1997, at Travis Air Force Base Medical Center after a long illness.
Born September 26, 1908 in Pocatello Valley, Utah, he moved to Vacaville seven years ago from Logan. He worked as a high school math and science teacher at Inglewood High School in Los Angeles. He was a retired Colonel in the U.S. Army and a World War II veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Lenna of Vacaville; daughters Joan Johnson of Logan and Bobbi Clyde of Lafayette; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of the Later-Day Saint, 1st Ward, Vacaville.
James Robert Reed
A Mass of the Resurrection for James Robert Reed, 74, of Vacaville, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Father Benedict De Leon will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.
Mr. Reed died May 31, 1997, in Vacaville after a short illness.
Born Dec. 23, 1922, in Waymart, Pa., he moved to Vacaville 48 years ago. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 21 years and had worked as head custodian of Willis Jepson Junior High School for 18 years.
Mr. Reed also worked part time for rancher Frank Lopez and others.
He was a member of the Vacaville Chapter of the American Legion, the Knights of Columbus, and the Vacaville Moose Lodge No. 1967.
He was also an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
He liked growing roses and telling jokes.
He is survived by his wife, Vera, of Vacaville; sons Jerry and Gary of Vacaville; stepdaughters Jennie Cavazos and Amy Murasko of Vacaville; stepsons Charles Lopez of Dixon and Billy Lopez of Oceanside; brother Howard Reed of Oregon; sisters Mary Kalaha of Pennsylvania, Ruth Keegan of New York and Katherine Holmberg of Florida; 25 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Reed was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret.
Visitation will be held from tonight from 6 to 8 in McCune Garden Chapel with a rosary recital at 7.
Arrangements were made by McCune Garden Chapel.
Steven Chandler Skinner
Private services were held for Steven Chandler Skinner, an infant from Fairfield.
Burial was at Fairmont Memorial Park in Fairfield.
The newborn died May 28, 1997, at North Bay Medical Center in Fairfield.
He is survived by his parents, Matt and Carolyn of Fairfield; grandparents, Joe and Pat McKnight and Elizabeth Skinner of Vacaville and E.G. Skinner III of Long Beach, Miss.; and two aunts, Nanette McKnight of Roseville and Anna Skinner of Starkville, Miss.
Arrangements were by Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.
Corazon Alcantra de Leon
A Mass of Christian Burial for Corazon Alcantra de Leon, 84, of Fairfield will be 11 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Fairfield. The Rev. Kevin McBrien will officiate.
Burial will be in Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery.
Mrs. De Leon died June 1, 1997, at NorthBay Medical Center after a short illness.
Born March 31, 1913, in the Philippine Islands, Mrs. De Leon lived in Fairfield for 28 years.
She graduated from the Centro Escolar University in Manila, the Philippines, with a doctorate in dental surgery. She practiced dentistry for more than 37 years in the Philippines.
She also was a political and social activist in the Philippines.
She moved to Fairfield in 1969, where she was a member of the Legion of Mary, and an active member of Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Fairfield.
She was an avid cook and artist.
Mrs. De Leon is survived by her daughters, Zenaida Lagrisola and Estrella Sacdalan, both of Fairfield; sons, Conrado of Fairfield, and Edgardo and Danilo, both of the Philippines; brother, Francisco Alcantra of Los Angeles; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. today and Thursday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home, with a rosary at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Robert La Shells
Private services were held for Robert La Shells, 66, of Yountville.
Born October 12, 1930, in McCloud, he died May 25, 1997, following a lengthy illness in the Veteran's Home Hospital in Yountville.
Mr. La Shells attended the University of California, Berkeley, and learned to be a doughnut maker. This became his profession for 40 years. He owned shops in San Francisco, Sonoma, Fairfield, Vacaville and Suisun. He spent his last days working in the Tavern at the California Veterans Home in Yountville.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha; and is survived by his mother, Geraldine Sprow of Sacramento; a brother, Bill, of Jackson; children Robert Jr. of Napa, Connie Burroughs of Pleasanton, Gregory Stokes of San Jose, James Stokes of Vacaville, and Diana Stokes of Tucson, Ariz.; grandchildren Michelle, Danielle, Michaella, Madison and Wilson; and many friends.
Robert James Miller
Funeral services for Robert James Miller, 63, of Fairfield will be 2 p.m. Friday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home. The Rev. John Booker of Solano Christian Fellowship will preside. Burial will be in Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery.
Born April 22, 1934, in Richmond, Mr. Miller died June 4, 1997, at his Fairfield home after a short illness.
He was a veteran of the Air Force from 1952 to 1955. He worked as a mechanic for 40 years, both self-employed and for Pacific Bell.
Mr. Miller is survived by his wife, Sharon of Fairfield; daughters, Robin Everts of Fairfield, and Stacy Wisby of Suisun City; son, Richard of Suisun City; brothers, Kenneth of Pinole, and Donald of Richmond; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Albert L. Perlmutter
Funeral services for Albert L. Perlmutter, 79, of Vacaville will be 10 a.m. Friday at McCune Garden Chapel. The Rabbi Stephen L. Vale, chaplain at Travis Air Force Base, will preside. Burial will be in Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.
Born Feb. 25, 1918, in the Bronx, N.Y., Mr. Perlmutter died May 31, 1997, after a long illness.
Mr. Perlmutter retired from the Air Force after serving 24 years. He was a senior master sergeant.
Also, he was an award-winning photographer, and taught photography part-time at Solano Community College. He was a mason, a toastmaster, and belonged to the 31st Strategic Reconnaissance Squadron.
He participated in several community projects, and enjoyed classical music, traveling, and reading.
He is survived by his former wife, Sylvia of Palm Springs; daughter, Beth Ann of Sacramento; son, Mark of Palm Desert; sister, Eunice Okun of Florida; brothers, Mervin and Harold of New York; and friend, Suzanne Forssell.

Joseph B. Power
Private memorial services for Joseph B. Power, 70, of Saratoga will be held Sunday. His ashes will be scattered at sea off Monterey Coast.
Born Jan. 26, 1927, in San Jose, Mr. Power died May 26, 1997, at home after a brief illness.
A lifelong resident of Santa Clara Valley, Mr. Power lived in Vacaville for two short periods during which time he worked at the Nut Tree restaurant and later at Heart Federal Savings and Loan.
He attended U.C. Davis, graduated from U.C. Berkeley, and received his master's degree from the University of Santa Clara.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara; sons, Kurt and Steven; three grandchildren; mother, Mildred; sister, Mirielle Lombardi of Vacaville; brothers, Eugene of Clayton, Donald of Los Gatos, and Gerald of Tacoma, Wash.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Sr.; sister, Janice Rudolph; and brother, Robert.
Charles Vallier Price III
Memorial services for Charles Vallier Price III, 56, of Fairfield will be 3 p.m. Friday at Fairmont Memorial Park. Entombment will follow.
Born Dec. 12, 1942, in Columbus, Ohio, Mr. Price died May 31, 1997, after a brief illness.
Mr. Price worked at the Mare Island Naval Shipyard as an engineering technician for 28 years. He was a member of the Pipefitters Local No. 127, and of the Into Action Fellowship in Fairfield.
Mr. Price is survived by his wife, Melinda of Fairfield; sons, Charles and William, both of Fairfield; and mother, Mary Ellen of Fairfield.

Katherine 'Kitty' Henderson
Funeral services for Katherine "Kitty" Henderson, 81, of Vacaville will be 1 p.m. Monday June 9 in Bethany Lutheran Church.
The Rev. Lester Seto of Bethany Lutheran Church will officiate.
Burial will be in Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.
Mrs. Henderson died June 1, 1997, in VacaValley Hospital after a short illness.
She was born May 17, 1916, in Carthage, Mo., moving to the area 27 years ago.
She was a homemaker for 60 years, and enjoyed helping friends and family.
Mrs. Henderson is survived by her husband, Walter of Vacaville; daughter, Sharon Runninghawk of Benicia; sons, William Forbach of Wisconsin, and Gary Forbach of San Clemente; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions can be made to a favorite charity.
