WILSON, VIOLET GREGORINI "VI" Born Nov. 1, 1925 in Campo Seco, CA. Died Nov. 19, 2001 in Sacramento after a lengthy fight with cancer. Survived by her loving husband Joseph, daughters Mary Catherine Correa and Trish Elliott and son-in-law Paul Elliott. She is also survived by her grandsons Justin, Joseph, Nicholas and Matthew who loved her dearly, a brother Louis Gregorini and many nieces and nephews. Vi worked for 20 years for Pacific Telephone in Sacramento, then began her new role as devoted wife and mother. A devout Catholic and long time member of All Hallows Parish, Vi volunteered on many church committees. She was an active member of Y.L.I. #48 and a charter member of I.C.F. #183. Vi loved her family and was especially proud of her grandsons. She was an avid shopper and loved gardening. We will miss her dearly. YEE, WING KUEY Peacefully passed away on November 17, 2001, Sacramento, CA. Native of China, aged 78 years. Devoted husband of Yok Hing Yee; loving father of Judy Canterbury, Steven (Lorna) Yee, Jessie (Mark) Kyotani, Marian Yee, Victor Yee, Richard (Connie) Yee and Nancy (Vick) Kyotani and cherished grandfather of Jason, Russell, Michelle, Robert, Jeffrey, Mitchell and Patrick. He was a WWII Veteran and was the Head Chef at the Capitol Tamale Restaurant. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Harry Aron, CSUS psychology professor
Harry Aron, who taught psychology at California State University, Sacramento, from 1955 until 1990, died Sunday of a heart attack in his Curtis Park home.
He was 78.
"Harry was the kindest person you could ever meet, but he did not suffer foolish reasoning gladly," recalled Joe Morrow, a former student who went on to become a Sacramento State psychology professor. "He tried to turn his students on to their highest possible level of performance."
A native of Mannheim, Germany, who immigrated to the United States with his family after Adolf Hitler took power in the 1930s, he was reared in San Francisco.
As a member of a U.S. Army intelligence unit, he returned to Germany during the final months of World War II, helping interrogate German prisoners.
Going to college on the GI Bill, he earned his bachelor's and master's degree and his doctorate from the University of California, Berkeley.
An early marriage ended in divorce.
It was in 1963, while teaching an undergraduate psychology class, that he met his second wife, the former Paula Edelman.
"I had six kids and was divorced and had just come back to school," said his wife, now an English professor at Sacramento City College. "I signed up for one of his classes. We started dating the next semester."
Admitting that she is biased, she went on to describe her husband as "a fantastic teacher ... the best, a brilliant, unique lecturer.
"First of all, he was very funny. He was very humorous. Also, he was very profound. He made you think about your circumstances. I didn't have any direction at that time."
After they began dating, and as his future wife worked her way toward an undergraduate degree, Mr. Aron encouraged her to seek a graduate degree and teach at the college level, she said.
They married in 1978, after the youngest of her children finished high school.
Survivors include his wife, Paula Aron of Sacramento; stepsons, David Aronson of Monson, Mass., and Ethan Aronson of San Francisco; and stepdaughters, Wendy Aronson of Mill Valley, Tina Burt of San Rafael and Anita Cook and Susan Aronson, both of Sacramento.
A memorial service will be scheduled after Christmas, his wife said.
BALDWIN, LYSTON CARR 1915-2001 Lyston Carr "Jim" Baldwin, 86, died Monday, November 19, 2001. He was born in Ashland, Oregon, on November 7, 1915. The first child of four, he was raised in Arcata, California. In the early 1940's he moved to Placerville, California where he married Mary Ella Blair and had one son, Gordon Matthew and one daughter, Rebecca Ann. He attended Humbolt State College and the Montana School of Mines, earning a degree in engineering. For 23 years, beginning in 1955 to 1978, Lyston served as Operations Supervisor of Engineering and District Treasurer at the El Dorado Irrigation District. In 1975 he served as President of the Sacramento Area Water Works Association. For 50 years he was a member of the Masons El Dorado Lodge #26 F&AM. Lyston was active in coordinating yearly reunions for his class at Humbolt State College, and was a member of SIR Sons In Retirement, Branch 29. Lyston and Mary spent much of their later years traveling throughout the world. He was an avid reader and an expert historian. Some of his greatest pleasures came with the gatherings of his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Carr Baldwin, from Korbel, CA. and Mary Elizabeth Foster, from Arcata, CA; and three sisters, Thals Jeffers, Carmen Jamison, and Gaelyn Leeman, and granddaughter Lauren Baldwin. He is survived by an Aunt, Jean Baldwin Bean, of San Mateo, CA; a sister-in-law, Louise Blair Simpson of Arcadia, CA; a son, Dr. Gordon Baldwin (and daughter-in-law, Chardelle) of Roseville, CA; a daughter Rebecca Ann Henderson (and son-in-law, Dr. Richard Henderson) of Dayton, OH; grandsons, Matthew Blair Baldwin of Davis, CA, Christopher Alan Henderson (and granddaughter-in-law Tania) of Pleasanton, CA, Kevin Kyle Henderson (and granddaughter-in-law Kimmy and great granddaughter Ani) of Nairobi, Kenya, and Carter Blair Henderson of Sacramento, CA; and granddaughter, Erika Lana Henderson of Davis, CA. Services will be held at a later date.

CROW, SANDRA GAIL Sandra passed away in Sacramento, on November 17, 2001, at the age of 44. She leaves behind 6 children; Andrew W. DEVERAUX, JAY GOLDEN Born October 1, 1928 in Darby, Idaho. Passed away November 19, 2001 in Sacramento. Preceded in death by his son, Bruce Curtis Deveraux, his father, Albert Deveraux and mother, Thelma Peck. He is survived by his loving companion of 17 years, Marilyn Hinzman; his stepmother, Ellen Deveraux of Idaho Falls, Idaho; brothers and sisters, Joyce Chizek, Donna Parmer, Dave and Wayne Deveraux; his loving daughter, Constance Deveraux Snider and her husband Richard; his loving sons, Eugene Francis, Gary Wayne (wife Linda) and Shane Douglas Deveraux, & the children's mother, Margaret Kittridge Sheridan. FONG, WING KING Born on November 3, 1916 in Sacramento, California. He was 85 years old and went home to be with the Lord on November 18, 2001. He passed away after battling complications from diabetes and kidney failure. He was married for 53 years to Jeanette Fong, who preceded him in death this summer. He is survived by his siblings: Florence Wong, Wing Yick Fong (Moy Jeang), Wing Gong Fong (Dorothy), Wing Sing Fong (Nancy) and Wing Tone Fong (Ruby). He is also survived by his four children: Albert Fong, Evelyn Lee (Alvin), Iris Gan (Les), and Valerie Wong (Ryan); his five grandchildren: Kelsey Wong, Meredith Lee, Gregory Gan, Adam Wong, and Olivia Gan. Wing King is a WWII Veteran and served in the U.S. Army Air Corp from 1943-46. Upon discharge from the service, he initially worked in restaurant and grocery store businesses until he secured an electronics technician position at the Sacramento Army Depot, retiring after 35 years of service. He enjoyed jigsaw and word puzzles, photography and travel, but his love for reading compelled him to make regular trips to the local library with his wife and grandchildren. The enduring legacy he leaves is the value of family love, unity, and support. His testimony of faith in the Lord is a message of hope he embraced as equally important. GATTEN, JOANN JEAN JoAnn Jean McNair Gatten died in Sacramento on Saturday, November 17, 2001. She was born on March 11, 1920 near Goldfield, Nevada. She spent her childhood alternating between Nevada mining towns and Culver City, CA where she graduated from High School. At age 17 she married Fred Gatten. They helped his parents run the Gatten family oil business in and around Carson City, NV. The business was sold in 1955 and they then moved to the Sacramento area where she remained until her death. Her husband died in 1986. JoAnn was also preceded in death by her parents, Blaine McNair and Anna Ruby McNair; and her brother, Robert McNair. She is survived by her daughter, Joann Gail Gatten; her son, Charles Blaine Gatten, and daughter-in-law Judy Bittick Gatten; three grandsons; one granddaughter; and one great-grandson. She is also survived by one sister-in-law; one niece; two nephews; and their families. At her request there will be no funeral or graveside service. She will be buried at the Roseville Cemetery
as are her mother, father and brother. She was a cherished member of our family and a wonderful lady. She will be greatly missed and never forgotten.

HUSTED, ROBERT FREDERICK Feb. 25, 1916 - Aug. 8, 2001 HUSTED, MARY LOUISE May 24, 1916 - Nov. 5, 2001 Married 61 years, Bob and Mary are together again. At 85, they passed away peacefully, just as they lived. Services in their Memory at Sacred Heart Church are private. Bob was born in Greenville, Pennsylvania and grew up in Conneaut, Ohio on Lake Erie. He attended Case Western Reserve University and graduated from Ohio State University in 1937. He was a member of Delta Upsilon fraternity and a lifelong Buckeye fan. Bob married Mary Louise Schneider on June 8, 1940. He served as a naval officer during World War II, participated in the June 6, 1944 D-Day landing in Normandy, and retired as a U.S. Naval Commander. Bob was a Human Resources Director in Ohio for over 35 years, until he retired from St. Regis Paper Company and moved to California in 1981. Mary was born in Newark, Ohio, the third of nine children. In her life she was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She worked as a nurse for over 20 years, retiring and moving to Sacramento in 1981. Bob and Mary are survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and James Scanlon; grandsons, Graham and Colin Scanlon; a son, Philip Husted; and numerous siblings, cousins, nephews, and nieces.
JOHNSON, RUTH Passed away November 15, 2001 at the age of 91. She is survived by her daughter, Kay and son in law, Jim Morandi. Mr. Lan retired after 30 years as a supervising auditor for The State of California Controller's Office.
