Beatrice O. Alarcon, 83, of Vallejo, died July 31 at Sutter Solano Medical Center in Vallejo.
A memorial mass will be held
10 a.m. Friday at the Mausoleum Chapel in All Souls Catholic Cemetery
with Father Pat Stephenson officiating.
Inurnment will follow.
Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Twin Chapels Mortuary.
Elsie B. Bruce
March 26, 1905 - Aug. 3, 2003
Elsie B. Bruce, 98, died Sunday at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center-Vallejo.
At her request, no services will be held.
Her ashes will be scattered at sea.
Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Twin Chapels Mortuary.
Charles Ross Meyer
May 22, 1926 - Aug. 2, 2003
Charles "Charlie" Ross Meyer, 77, died Saturday in Flagstaff, Ariz. while returning from an RV trip to Iowa.
He was born in, raised in and has been a lifelong resident of Vallejo.
Mr. Meyer graduated from St. Vincent's High School in 1946.
He was a World War II veteran, serving in the Army from 1946 to 1948.
He then worked as a rigger at Mare Island Naval Shipyard for 40 years before retiring in 1983.
Mr. Meyer was a member of St. Basil's Catholic Church and a member of ROPE.
He enjoyed traveling with his wife and was an active member of the RV travel groups, WIT Chardonnay Travelers and the North Bay Rovers.
Mr. Meyer also enjoyed square dancing and was a past director for the NCSDA and former member of the Old Capitol Squares.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Dolores Meyer of Vallejo; daughters Debbie (Ray) Desormier of Vallejo and Nancy (Robert) Osterkamp of American Canyon; sister, Lena Meyer of Vallejo; and grandchildren, David Charles Desormier and Katie and Emilie Osterkamp.
Mr. Meyer loved and enjoyed his grandchildren; and his family was an important part of his life.
A visitation is planned from 1 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and for 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with a vigil at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Colonial Chapels.
A Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Basil's Catholic Church, Vallejo. Burial will be at All Souls Catholic Cemetery.
Contributions are preferred to St. Basil's Building Fund or charity of donor's choice.

Feb. 28, 1920 - Aug. 2, 2003
Ida F. Grant, 83, of Vallejo, died Saturday.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday in Skyview Memorial Chapel.
Burial will be in Skyview Memorial Chapel.
Robbie Mosby
Jan. 15, 1955 - July 31, 2003
Robbie Jean Trotter Mosby died Thursday, July 31, 2003 at Sutter Solano Medical Center after a brief illness.
Robbie was born January 15, 1955 in Los Angeles, California, and moved to Vallejo in 1962.
She attended Olympic Elementary School in Vallejo.
Then she moved to Fairfield-Suisun City where she attended Crystal Middle School and Armijo High School.
She was a certified nurse's aide and worked at different nursing homes in the area.
She was also employed at Travis Air Force Base in food services.
Survivors include her son, Ron Kearns (Spanky) of Vallejo; father, Theotis Trotter Sr. of San Francisco; mother, Bobbie Nell Adkins of Vallejo; stepfather, Samuel E. Adkins of Vallejo; sister, Debra Lanier Trotter of Fairfield; brother, Theotis Trotter Jr. of Vallejo; daughter-in-law, Jamie Kane Kearns of Vallejo; grandson, Hobart Kane Kearns of Vallejo; a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces and cousins.
A visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Wiggins-Knipp Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Wiggins-Knipp Funeral Home.
Burial will be at Skyview Memorial Lawn.
Richard Oro Veloso
Sept. 28, 1957 - July 29, 2003
Richard Oro, Veloso, 45, of Vallejo died Tuesday due to a car accident on Interstate 780 in Vallejo.
Visitation will be held 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Colonial Chapels.
Funeral services will be 4 p.m. Saturday at Colonial Chapels.
Burial will be at Manila Memorial Park, Philippine Islands.
John M. Holloway
March 15, 1911 - Nov. 30, 2003
John "Jack" M. Holloway, 92, of Vallejo died Sunday at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center, Vallejo, after a brief illness.
Born to Clarence and Mary Holloway in Mobile, Alabama, Mr. Holloway was a 58-year resident of Vallejo.
Frederick Posedel
Aug. 31, 1917 - Nov. 21, 2003
A rosary and memorial Mass for Frederick Michael Posedel, 86, of Vacaville, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Dec. 5, 2003, in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Vacaville.
The Rev. Michael McFadden will preside.
Mr. Posedel died Nov. 21, 2003, in Vacaville following a short illness.
Born Aug. 31, 1917, in Vallejo, he was raised in Vallejo and resided in Vacaville.
He worked at Hunter's Point Shipyard and Mare Island Naval Shipyard as a pipefitting supervisor for a combined total of 34 years.
He was an avid golfer, and traveled extensively throughout Europe and North and South America.
He loved nature and contributed to preserving our environment.
He was fond of animals, gardening, cooking, music and reading.
He attended Catholic school, graduating from St. Vincent's class of 1935.
He worked on the submarines built or repaired at Mare Island.
Mr. Posedel is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Tom Smith of Vallejo, Shirley and Jerry Spadorcio of Vacaville and Eileen and Howard Lee of San Rafael; grandchildren, Keely and Pierce Brosnan of Malibu, Kim and Bill Vaughn of Moraga, Bill and Heather Beeman of Costa Mesa, Aubrey Smith of Scotts Valley, and Fred Beeman of Vallejo; and great-grandchildren, William, Andrew and Ryan Vaughn, and Dylan and Paris Brosnan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Johanna Posedel.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to NorthBay Hospice, 1300 Oliver Road, Fairfield, or the Catholic Cemeteries in Vallejo.
Arrangements were handled by Nadeau Family Funeral Home.
Edith Pauline Barleen
May 31, 1913 - Dec. 1, 2003
Edith Pauline Barleen, 90, died peacefully Monday due to a brief illness at Kaiser Hospital.
Mrs. Barleen was born in Clyde, Kan., and lived in Vallejo for 62 years.
She worked as a dispensary clerk at Mare Island for 10 years, retiring in 1971.
She also taught elementary school in Kansas prior to moving to Vallejo.
Mrs. Barleen was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Vallejo who enjoyed planting flowers and bonzi.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen O. Barleen in 1983, and a son, Thomas L. Barleen in 1967. Survivors include her daughter, Mary (Marty) Stiewig of Vacaville; son, David (Kathleen) Barleen of Lafayette; sister, Lillian Piller of Vallejo; grandchildren, Eric and Kristen Barleen, James Hollis, Herbert Stiewig Jr., Kathleen Hurtz, K. Scott Stiewig and Larry F. Stiewig; and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Wiggins-Knipp Funeral Home, Vallejo.
A memorial will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church in Vallejo, with Pastor Hampton Deck officiating.
Burial will be at Sunrise Memorial Cemetery, Vallejo.
