Marvin F. "Mac" McFadden, 65, of Vallejo, died Wednesday at home.
A memorial service will be held at a future date. Arrangements were handled under the direction of Wiggins-Knipp Funeral Home, Vallejo.
Ruby Webb
Aug. 27, 1927 - July 29, 2003
Ruby "Grandma Honey" Webb, 74, died Tuesday at Napa Nursing Center after a long illness.
Born in Tallulah, La., Mrs. Webb was a resident of Vallejo.
Mrs. Webb lived as a homemaker and was a longtime member of St. Mark Baptist Church where she served on the Mother's Board.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Arthur L. Webb Sr.; daughters, Barbara Lo-Chin of Vallejo and Yolanda Webb of Sacramento; stepdaughter, Ersenee Clark of La.; sons, Arthur Webb Jr. of South Pasadena, the Rev. Raymond Webb Sr. of Laguna Hills, Michael Webb of Los Angeles, Danny Webb Sr. and Ronald Webb Sr. both of Vallejo and Anthony Webb Sr. of Suisun; grandchildren, Robyn, Eric, Raymond II, Randall, Jarrett, Clyde Jr., Courtney, Sarelle, Jasmine, Jessica, Danny Jr., David, Ronald Jr., Latasha, Lamar, Tifani, Anthony Jr. and Asia.
A visitation with a quiet hour is planned from 4 to
6 p.m. Sunday at Cooley and Riolo Mortuary.
Funeral services are planned for 11 a.m. Monday at St. Mark Baptist Church of Vallejo with Pastor Charles A. Brown officiating.
Leon Allen, Jr.
Oct. 4, 1939 - July 29, 2003
Leon Allen Jr., 63, of Fairfield, died Tuesday at home after a long illness.
Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Solano Valley Mortuary in Fairfield. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Stephen C.M.E. in Fairfield with Pastor W.L. McDaniel officiating. Burial will follow at Suisun Fairfield Cemetery.
Paul A. Dover
April 22, 1917-Aug. 2, 2003
Paul Dover, 86, of Gilbert, Ariz., passed away Saturday at home following a short illness.
Born in Hinton, Okla., Mr. Dover lived in Napa for 20 years and Vallejo for 30 years. He also resided in Gilbert, Ariz., for one year.
He was a U.S. Army veteran during World War II and an automotive inspector for Mare Island Naval Shipyard for 36 years before retiring in 1977. He was also a member of the Community Presbyterian Church in Vallejo from 1950 to 1999.
He is survived by his daughter, Paula F. Dover of Seattle, Wash.; son, Dennis P. (Irene) Dover of Gilbert, Ariz.; sister, Pauline Whisenhunt, of Redding; brother, Jim Dover of Vallejo; grandchildren, Sarah Murray of Gilbert, Ariz., Kim Fallin of Napa; and great-grandchildren Kelsie Fallin of Napa and Taylor and Kaden Murray of Gilbert, Ariz. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ina, in December 1999.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8 at Skyview Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be at11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9 at Skyview Funeral Chapel followed by burial at Skyview Memorial Lawn.
Krispin Calunsag Selim
Oct. 25, 1925 - Aug. 4, 2003
Krispin Calunsag Selim, 77, of Reno, formerly of Vallejo, died Monday, Aug. 4, 2003 at Washoe Progressive Care Center of natural causes. He was born Oct. 25, 1925 in Honolulu, Hawaii. He joined the U.S. Navy during World War II and was discharged honorably in December of 1947. He married Margaret Fernandez. He began working for the civil service as a submarine inspector and retired in 1981. He and his wife moved to Reno in September of 1984 from Vallejo. He began working for Reno Citi-lift as a driver for the elderly and worked there 11 years. He enjoyed bowling in the senior leagues for 19 years at the AMF Starlight Lanes. He was also a sports enthusiast supporting the San Francisco Giants and the 49ers and watching golf, especially Tiger Woods. He enjoyed dancing and gaming at Cal-Neva where he was friends with many of the employees there.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret of Reno; sons, Krispin Selim Jr. of Elk Grove, and Fred Selim of Vallejo; daughters, Julie Ramos and Cindy Murillo of Stockton. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, William and Fred Selim.
Public visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Walton's Sparks Funeral Home, 1745 Sullivan Lane, Sparks, Nev., followed by a committal service at 7 p.m. Cremation will then take place with a private inurnment by the family. Arrangements are in the care of Walton's Sparks Funeral Home.
Robert Gaskill Jackson
May 19, 1917 - Aug. 3, 2003
Robert Gaskill Jackson, 86, died Sunday at home after a long illness. Born in Grafton, Ill., he was a Vallejo resident for 43 years.
Mr. Jackson retired from the U.S. Army at the rank of captain after 25 years. He also retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 13 years. He served during both World War II and the Korean conflict.
He had been a member of the Masonic Lodge in West Frankfort, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eva in 1998.
Survivors include his daughters, Ruth E. Cockerham and Brenda K. (Jim) Jackson-Ratliff, both of Vallejo; sister, Dorothy Cornett of Lexington, Ky.; seven grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
A funeral is planned for 11 a.m. Thursday at Skyview Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Craig Paterson of First United Methodist Church officiating. Entombment will be at Skyview Memorial Lawn, Vallejo.
Bernard Harless
Dec. 28, 1927 - Aug. 2, 2003
Bernard Lee Harless, age 75, passed away peacefully August 2, 2003, after a long battle with emphysema. Bernard was born in Raymond, Nebraska, December 28, 1927. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from Sept. 1946-Aug. 1948. He then went to work at Mare Island Naval Shipyard for 37 years. He retired from Mare Island in 1983 after careers as a machinist, a ships inspector, an engineering technician and a ship's superintendent.
He lived in Nebraska until the age of 12, when his family moved to Richmond, CA. He moved to Pinole in 1964 where he was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and coached Little League. He lived in Pinole until April 1999, when he moved to Fairfield.
He loved to play golf, enjoyed carpentry, camping and fishing. His family was important to him and he especially enjoyed family get-togethers. He enjoyed watching baseball and football games, especially the 49ers, Giants and A's.
He was a member of the Vallejo Elks Lodge No. 559 and a past Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus Council #3770.
He was a loving husband and father. He had a wonderful sense of humor that endeared him to his grandchildren. He will be sorely missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Bernard Sr. and Alberta Harless; brother, Robert; and daughter, Connie.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Ruth Juntunen Harless of Fairfield; sons, Steven (Carol) of Vacaville and Tim (Kathy) of Pleasant Hill; sister, Donna (Milton) Chandler of Pascagoula, Miss.; and grandchildren, Craig, Chris, Carrie and Ryan Harless, all of Vacaville, Lenea and Wayne Harless, both of Jasper, Ind., Joe Sonksen and Sean Harless, both of Pleasant Hill.
A visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday with a vigil service at 7 p.m. at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home. An Elks memorial service will be held on Wednesday evening following the vigil service at the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Fairfield with father Sebastian Meyer of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel officiating. A private interment will be held on Friday.
