James Gieffels
June 20, 1922 -- May 25, 2003
James "Buddy" Gieffels, 79, of Benicia died May 25 in a local hospital after a long illness.
Mr. Gieffels, a lifelong Benicia resident, was preceded in death by his parents, John and Gertrude; sisters, Ellen, Pat and Phyllis; and brothers, Walter, Jack, George and Robert.
Survivors include his sister, Joan Correia, and brother, Thomas, both of Benicia.
A celebration of his life will be from 2 to 6 p.m. May 31 at the Correia residence. His ashes will be buried at St. Dominic's Cemetery.
The family prefers memorial donations to Lourdes Convent, 1520 Grand Avenue, San Rafael, CA 94901-2236.
Arrangement were made under the direction of Passalacqua Funeral Chapel.
Peter Caballero
May 5, 1905 -- March 31, 2002
Peter Valpariso Caballero, 97, died Sunday at a Vallejo hospital after a long illness.
He was born in the Philippines and lived in Vallejo for 85 years.
Mr. Caballero worked at Mare Island Naval Shipyard as a pipefitter for 30 years, retiring in 1972.
Survivors are his wife, Mary of Vallejo; daughters, Dolores Rosslyn of Vallejo; Ruth Byrne of Washington; Rebecca (Terry) Butts of American Canyon; sons, Carl (Adele), Melvin and Gabriel (Nelia) all of Vallejo; 23 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
A memorial will be held 5 p.m., Saturday at Kingdom Hall, 11 Melvin Road, American Canyon. Eld. Vincent Caballero of Fairfield Jehovah Witness Church will be officiating. Private inurnment.

Leroy Tinnes
March 23, 1913 -- May 21, 2002
Leroy Tinnes, 89, died Tuesday at a local hospital after a long illness.
Born in Washington County, Iowa, he was a resident of Vallejo for 62 years.
He worked as a supervisor for Shop No. 26 at Mare Island Naval Shipyard for 30 years, retiring in 1971.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church; the American Welding Society; Vallejo Heritage Foundation; Vallejo Naval and Historical Museum; and the International Executive Service Corps. Mr. Tinnes was also a volunteer for Meals on Wheels.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Audrey, in 1970.
Survivors are his wife, Doris of Vallejo; son, Thomas (Betty) of Lexington, N.C.; stepson, Stephen Brainard of Santa Barbara; sisters, Nona Waters of Mountain Home, Ark.; Eileen Miller of Keota, Iowa and five grandchildren.
A memorial will be held 11 a.m., May 24 at First United Methodist Church in Vallejo, with the Rev. Craig Paterson of First United Methodist Church presiding. Inurnment at Skyview Memorial Lawn, Vallejo.

Imogene Terrell
March 23,1962 -- February 5, 2003
Imogene Terrell, 40, died on February 5 in Oakland after a long illness.
Ms. Terrell was born in Yazoo City, Mississippi. She was the first child born to Mary Ann Terrell. She lived in Vallejo until her teen years and later made Oakland her home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Bardwell; mother, Mary Ann; grandmother, Annie Terrell; uncles, Jimmie Lee; and Roy Doss; and cousin Denise Gray.
She is survived by her daughter, Starkisha Sneed of Oakland; sons, Bennie Sneed; and Roy Terrell, both of Oakland; sister, Rochelle Nettles of Dallas, Texas; and Sherry of Oakland; brothers Freddie; and Mark Doleman, both of Oakland and Brian of Dallas, Texas; and a host and aunts and uncles.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Feb. 17 at Fuller Funeral Home, 4647 International Blvd., Oakland with Pastor, Rev. Cedric Cain of Bell Chapel, S.F. officiating. Interment Private.
Brando Mojica
Aug. 10, 1952 -- May 25, 2003
Brando Riego De Dios Mojica Sr., 50, died Sunday after drowning in the Mare Island Strait.
He was born in the Philippines and lived in Vallejo for 15 years.
Mr. Mojica worked as a material handler for New United Motor Auto Manufacturers for 11 years.
He was a member of St. Vincent's Catholic Church who enjoyed fishing and restoring old cars.
Survivors include his wife, Amelia of Vallejo; daughters, Catherine of Milpitas and Christina of Vallejo; sons, Michael of Fremont and Brando Jr. of Vallejo; mother, Mercedes of the Philippines; sister, Emelita Copeland of Union City; brothers, Theodore of the Philippines; Leo of Union City; Jun of Chula Vista; and Dennis of Washington; grandchildren, Malaya Mojica and Alyssa Gumataotao.
Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. June 1, and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with a vigil at 7 p.m. June 2 at Colonial Chapels, Vallejo. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. June 3 at St. Vincent's Catholic Church, Vallejo. Burial at All Souls Catholic Cemetery, Vallejo.
Audra Tewalt
(Feb. 20, 1919 - April 6, 2001)
Audra Tewalt, 82, died Friday at a local convalescent hospital following a brief illness.
Mrs. Tewalt, commonly known as Ms. Bush, was born in Whitewood, S.D. and was a Vallejo resident. She was employed as a waitress at Terry's Coffee Shop for 15 years and as a waitress at Barrel Club for five years. Mrs. Tewalt enjoyed crocheting.
Survivors include daughter, Ann Green of Vallejo; and grandchild, Wayne Green of Mt. View.
At the request of the deceased, no services will be held. Private inurnment. Arrangements by Struble Family Funeral Services, Vallejo.
