Robert Lehtomaki
July 3, 1929 -- May 22, 2003
Robert Rudolph Lehtomaki, 73, died at home on May 22 after a brief illness.
He was born in Marquette, Mich., and was an American Canyon resident.
Mr. Lehtomaki worked on Mare Island Naval Shipyard in Shop No. 6 as a tool room attendant for eight years, retiring in 1993.
He served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years and attained the rank of E-7.
He enjoyed reading about history and biographies, and walking along the Vallejo waterfront.
Survivors include his wife, Emily of American Canyon; son, Larry of American Canyon; and sister, Marilyn Lempeses of Marquette, Mich.
No services will be held. Private inurnment.
Arrangements were made by Wiggins-Knipp Funeral Home, Vallejo.
John Vaughan
(Sept. 18, 1918 - April 11, 2001)
John T. "Jack" Vaughan, 82, of Benicia, died Wednesday in a local hospital after a long illness.
Mr. Vaughan was born in San Francisco and moved to Benicia in 1989. He was a captain in the Army during World War II, from 1941-45, and retired as a vice-president with Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in 1973 after a career spanning 40 years. Mr. Vaughan was a member of Vallejo Elks Lodge #559 and St. Dominic's Church.
Survivors include his wife of almost 55 years, Mary "Jo" of Benicia; daughters, Deborah of Sacramento and Pamela (Rick) Hickerson of Littleton, Colo.; son, Robert (Lisa) of Pacific Grove; a niece; and six grandchildren.
Memorial mass at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Dominic's Church, Benicia. Inurnment in San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery. Arrangements by Passalacqua Funeral Chapel, Benicia.
Contributions preferred to St. Dominic's Church Adoration Chapel.
Clarence Jones Sr.
(April 30, 1967 - Aug. 3, 2001)
Clarence Lorenzo Jones Sr., 34, died Friday after a long illness while attending his family reunion at Oakwood Lake Resort.
Mr. Jones, commonly known as "Hands," was born in San Francisco and was a Vallejo resident. He worked in Environmental Services at UCSF Hospital for five years. Mr. Jones enjoyed fishing.
Survivors include wife, Sharee Sanders- Jones of Vallejo; daughters, Aniqua, Demitria and Desiree; son, Clarence Jr.; parents, Ocie Meredith of Vallejo and Lamont of San Francisco; grandparent, Ocie Jerome Woodson; sisters, Elease Minor, Khadya Smith, Maeodis, Tollie, and Cynthia; brothers, Lamont Christopher, Lamont William and Ernest.
Visitation, 2 to 8 p.m. today at Wiggins-Knipp Funeral Home, Vallejo, with quiet hour at 7 p.m. Funeral at 11 a.m. Thursday at Wiggins-Knipp, with the Rev. Ryan Wright of Community Church of Santa Clara officiating. Burial in Skyview Memorial Lawn.

Eliseo Sumabat
(April 16, 1926 -- Feb. 14, 2002)
Eliseo Castillo Sumabat, 75, died Thursday at a Vacaville hospital.
Mr. Sumabat was born in the Philippines and had been a Vallejo resident for the past 20 years.
Survivors are his wife, Leonor of Vallejo; daughters, Cely (Alex) Zoleta and Ellen (William) Golez both of Vallejo; sons, Antonio (Lorna), Eliseo Jr. (Nelly), Mel and Rudy (Lina) all of Vallejo; sisters, Mila, and Clarita de la Cruz both of the Philippines; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be 1 to 9 p.m., Sunday with a vigil beginning at 7 p.m., at Colonial Chapels, Vallejo. A mass of Christian burial will offered 11 a.m., Monday at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, Vallejo. Private inurnment.
Alda Cuneo
Nov. 24, 1904 -- Sept. 20, 2002
Alda Cuneo, 97, died Sept. 20 at her home in Vallejo after a long illness.
Born in Brecia, Italy, she was a resident of Vallejo since 1922.
Mrs. Cuneo was a homemaker.
She was an active member of the Vallejo Women's Club.
Mrs. Cuneo was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur in 1997.
Survivors include her niece, Nancy Diez of Santa Rosa; brother-in-law, Raymond of Yakima, Wash. and her cousin, Lena Bacigalupi of Vallejo.
Visitation will be held, noon to 9 p.m. Sept. 26 at Twin Chapels Mortuary, Vallejo with vigil service at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian burial, 11 a.m. Sept. 27 in the Mausoleum Chapel at All Souls Catholic Cemetery, Vallejo with clergy from St. Basil's Church officiating. Entombment will follow.

Roseanne Ward
March 25, 1931 -- Jan. 17, 2003
Roseanne Hook Ward, 71, died Jan. 17, at her home in American Canyon.
Mrs. Ward was born in Brooklyn, NY, and was a local area resident. She lived in Vallejo from 1974 to 1991 before moving to American Canyon.
Mrs. Ward married in 1952 in San Francisco and attended the Dominican College. She worked for many years as a parts manager including McPeak Volkswagen in Walnut Creek and Oliver Volkswagen in Vallejo.
She was preceded in death by Edward Ward.
Survivors include her two daughters, Deborah (Wayne) Organ of El Cerrito; Elizabeth of San Jose; sister, Patricia Groves of Arlington, Va.; brother, Dr. Fredrick Hook of Castro Valley; and her grandson, Alexander Schajatovic.
No services will be held.
