Jerry D’Angelo
Jerry D’Angelo died Jan. 29, 2004 at San Miguel Villa in Concord. He was 87.
The Ohio native had lived in Pleasanton for fourteen years. He worked for Metropolitan Life Insurance in sales for 30 years. He was a member of St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, the Lions Club, and was very civically active. He loved to read and fix stuff, loved cars and Italian food. He is remembered as a very gracious and kind person.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law Rudy and Joyce D’Angelo of Pleasanton, a brother Sam D’Angelo of Livermore, sister Ann Carmella of Wheeling, WV., two grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Marie D’Angelo in 1994, and a brother Joe D’Angelo.
Mass was celebrated at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Pleasanton. Burial was at St. Augustine’s Cemetery
in Pleasanton.

LaVerne Marment
LaVerne Marment died Jan. 29, 2004 at ValleyCare Medical Center in Pleasanton. She was 73.
The Missouri native had lived in Pleasanton for 46 years. She was a homemaker for 40 years, a devoted Catholic and parishioner of St. Augustine’s Catholic Church in Pleasanton. She enjoyed golf, snow skiing, traveling and the performing arts.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, George Marment of Pleasanton, children Rick Marment of Granite Bay, Denise Shawver of Pleasanton and Lisa Jensen of Tracy; daughter-in-law Cindi Marment; sons-in-law Jeff Jensen and Mark Shawver, a brother Bob Strnad of Vacaville, her sister MaryAnn Jones of San Ramon, and six grandchildren.
Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Fri., Feb. 6 at St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 4001 Stoneridge Dr., Pleasanton. Arrangements by Graham-Hitch Mortuary in Pleasanton.
Vivian Kvistad
Vivian L. Kvistad died Feb. 1, 2004 in Pleasanton. She was 86.
The Iowa native had lived in Dublin for 27 years, and Castro Valley for 42 years. She was a homemaker, a member of Valley Christian and Hilltoppers. Her hobbies included sewing, quilting, drawing and gardening.
She is survived by sons Wayne Kvistad of Pollock Pines and Ron Kvistad of Pleasanton; daughters Sonia Johnson of Dublin and Veronica Howard of Beaverton, OR., brothers Carroll Fuller, LeDean Fuller, Paul Fuller and Garland Fuller, a sister Cora Belle Kinler, nine grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband David Kvistad and her parents Arthur and Cora Fuller.
A memorial service is set for 3:30 p.m. on Thurs., Feb. 5 at Valley Christian Center, 7500 Inspiration Dr., Dublin. A graveside service will be held prior to the memorial service, at 2 p.m. Thurs., Feb. 5 at Lone Tree Cemetery, 24591 Fairview Ave., Hayward. Arrangements by Graham-Hitch Mortuary.
Gary Brittain
Gary Williams Brittain died Jan. 30, 2004 in Livermore. He was 56.
He was a native of West Virginia. He worked at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory for six years in food service. He loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Kathleen Brittain of Livermore, daughter-in-law Julie Brittain and sons Mark Alan Brittain and Kevin Roy Brittain and two granddaughters, all of Livermore.
Funeral services will be held on Feb. 7 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 1009 Murrieta Blvd., #49, Livermore. Burial will be private.
Diana King
Diana L. King died Jan. 17, 2004 in Pleasanton. She was 45.
The California native had lived in Livermore her entire life. She attended college for a period of time. She had worked as a dispatcher for Custom Communications for two years. Her hobbies included collecting M&M Candy memorabilia and tigers. She loved animals.
She is survived by her husband Bryan King and a son Kevin Harless of Livermore, and a brother Martin Harless of Livermore.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Feb. 7 at Cedar Grove Community Church, 2021 College Ave., Livermore.
Steven Peterson
Steven Roy Peterson died March 22, 2004 at his home in Livermore. He was 40.
The Livermore native had lived in the city his entire life. His hobbies included gardening, fishing and camping. He worked as an electrician for various companies for sixteen years.
He is survived by his wife Lisa Ann Peterson, sons Steven Murphy II, Sterling Murphy and Samuel Murphy, all of Livermore, sisters Linda Manausa, Debbie Anderson, Sue Sardinia and a brother Jim Peterson, all of Livermore.
A memorial service was held March 26 in Livermore.
William Patrick
William A. Patrick died March 23, 2004 at Care Center of Rossmoor in Walnut Creek. He was 74.
The Ohio native had lived in Pleasanton for the past four years, moving here from Stockton where he lived for 33 years. He was a veteran of the USMC. He worked as an accountant for 40 years. He was a member of the American Legion, Polish American Social Club, Knights of Columbus (4th Degree Knight).
He is survived by his wife Delores Patrick of Pleasanton, daughter and son-in-law Lynne and Richard Hudson of Pleasanton, a sister Marjorie Pallo of North Carolina, two grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated March 25 at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Pleasanton. Burial was at the San Joaquin National Cemetery
in Stockton.

Martin Mardirosian
Martin Mardirosian died March 24, 2004 at Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley.
The native of Fresno, CA had lived in Castro Valley for ten years. Prior to that he had lived in San Ramon for 37 years. He worked as a Teamster for 30 years. He was a member of the St. Bartan Armenian Church in Oakland. A former Golden Gloves heavyweight champion, he was inducted into the 1990 East Bay Boxing Hall of Fame. He had enlisted in the Merchant Marine under the name of Martin Goldberg, the same name he fought under.
He is survived by his wife Edith Mardirosian of Castro Valley, sons Larry Renslow of Pleasanton and Martin Mardirosian, Jr. of Modesto, six grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren.
A memorial service was held March 28 in Pleasanton.

Eloise Straight
Eloise E. Straight died March 24, 2004 in Livermore. She was 75.
The Iowa native had lived in Livermore for 48 years. She received her AA Degree in 1948 from Iowa State Teachers College. In 1960, she earned her BA Degree at San Jose State and in 1976 her Masters of Arts Degree at San Francisco State. She taught primary grades in Iowa schools and for 18 years in Livermore, where she touched many lives with her loving manner of teaching children to read. She retired from teaching in 1980. Her hobbies included creative machine embroidery, knitting, collecting family pictures and playing cards. She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, including the Crafty Ladies Group, the Trailer Twirlers and RV Club.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years Loyd Straight of Livermore, a daughter and son-in-law Dawn and Michael Baughman of Livermore, son Rick Straight and daughter-in-law Judy Bangor of Iowa, a sister and brother-in-law June and Bud Clark of Arizona, sisters-in-law Lela Downing and Colleen Lake, and a brother-in-law Geoffery Lake, all of Iowa, and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held March at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Livermore.
Burial was at Memory Gardens Cemetery
in Livermore.

Frank Audia
Frank Audia died March 24, 2004 in San Leandro. He was 76.
The Utah native had lived in Dublin for 43 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and taking trips to Reno. He was a lifetime member of Pacific Service Employers Association, and belonged to St. Raymond’s Catholic Church in Dublin.
He is survived by sons Mike Ruskey, Bobby Martinez and Joel Martinez, all of Dublin, sisters Mary Rose McCuin of Alameda, Eda Rost of Newark, Genieve Jones of San Leandro and Florence Ruskey of Dublin, and a brother John Astorino, Jr. of Manteca.
A memorial service was held March 31 at St. Raymond’s Catholic Church in Dublin.
Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
Albert William Hilke
Albert William Hilke, a lifelong Livermore resident, passed away on March 24, 2004 at the age of 96.
A retired carpenter, he also worked for the Army Corps of Engineers. He graduated from Livermore High School and from Polytechnic College of Engineering in Oakland. He was a member of and played with the Aahmes (Shrine) Concert Band. He was also a member of the Mosaic Lodge No. 218, Scottish Rite of Oakland, Foresters and the Carpenters local Union No. 22. A true sportsman, he enjoyed going fishing with his son, granddaughters and lifelong friends.
Albert is survived by his son Fred Hilke of Pleasanton, granddaughters Lisa Hilke of Livermore and Jennifer Hilke of Pleasanton, and a sister Dorothy Mello of Livermore. He was preceded in death by his wife Frances Hilke and his brother, Richard Hilke.
A memorial service will be held Fri., April 2 at 1 p.m. with a reception immediately following at the Aahmes Shrine Temple Event Center, 170 Lindbergh Avenue, Livermore.

Marjorie Mae Denson
Marjorie Mae Denson died March 27, 2004 in Walnut Creek. She was 94.
The Colorado native had lived in San Ramon for two years. Prior to that she had lived in Pleasanton for 16 years. She graduated from Burlingame High School in 1929. She volunteered for the Volunteer Center of Alameda County and American Cancer Society for many years. For 15 years, she was employed as a secretary for Owl Drug Co. which later became Rexall.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law Virginia and Ted Woy of Dublin, a brother George Chessum Jr. of Oakhurst, four grandchildren, including Mark Woy and his wife Chris of Livermore, six great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband William Denson in 1989.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. April 1 at Callaghan Mortuary, 3833 East Avenue, Livermore. Burial will be at 2 p.m. April 1 at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Colma.

Roosevelt Galloway
Roosevelt Galloway died March 29, 2004 in Pleasanton. He was 62.
The North Carolina native had lived in Livermore for 25 years. He was a member of St. Matthews Baptist Church. His hobbies include golf, fishing, and rebuilding antique cars.
He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Galloway of Livermore, daughters Deborah Lynn Galloway of Jacksonville, FL., Dietra Wilson of Decatur, GA., and Renee Eve Galloway of Livermore; sons Roosevelt Galloway III of Jacksonville, FL., Tyrone Phelps of Winston-Salem, NC., and Kevin Galloway of Portland, OR., sisters Christine Barrier of Tacoma, WA., and Barbara Simpson of Livermore; brothers Tyrone Galloway of Winston-Salem, NC., Irvin Galloway and Christopher Galloway, both of Tacoma, WA., and William Galloway of Hayward, and eleven grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at noon on April 2 at St. Matthews Baptist Church, 1239 No. Livermore Avenue, Livermore. Inurnment will be at Roselawn Cemetery
following the service.
Fred Louis Jarm
Fred Louis Jarm died March 28, 2004 at ValleyCare Medical Center in Pleasanton. He was 85.
He was born in Chicago on June 3, 1918. Throughout his life, Fred was keenly interested in sports and in particular baseball and golf. A World War II veteran, he proudly served his country in the US Navy. His career was primarily in the Chicago area including 15 years as a sales rep for electronics manufacturer, Tingstol Co. During his last years in Pleasanton, his passion turned to reading, pinochle and growing roses. He will be remembered for his joy of life, his concern for others and his engaging smile.
He is survived by a daughter Nancy Goff of Marshall, VA, and sons Fred Jarm Jr. of Woodridge, IL., Robert Jarm of Mount Prospect, IL., and William Jarm of Pleasanton, and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and stepchildren.He was preceded in death by a son Thomas Jarm of Elgin, IL.
In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that donations be made to the American Cancer Society. A memorial service will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tues., April 13 at St. Scholastica Church, 7800 Janes Ave., Woodridge, IL.
