Mary Edith O'Dell
Mary Edith O'Dell, was born on Oct. 8, 1922, in Rosebud, Ark., and died on Sunday, Dec. 2, 2001 in Visalia.
She is survived by one daughter, Sharon Estes of Visalia; two granddaughters, Kathy Estes of Omaha, Neb., and Tamara Semon of Bellevue, Neb.; six great-grandchildren, Ashley, Amber, Megan, Danielle, Katie and Emily; five sisters, Lois Morphis, Geneva Hart and Mildred Smith of Visalia, Dorthy Sheldon of Laton and Opal McKee of Oklahoma; two brothers, Clyde Thomas of Porterville and Jim Thomas of Reedley.
Internment will be at Mission City Memorial Park in Santa Clara.
Luke Christian Oliphant

Luke Christian Oliphant, the infant son of Michael and Jenifer Oliphant, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2001, in Fresno.
Luke will be missed by his parents, Michael and Jenifer of Visalia; his big brother, Jared, and his big sister, Riley, both of Visalia; several grandparents, aunts and uncles.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. today at Visalia District Cemetery. Arrangements are by Miller Memorial Chapel, Visalia.
Nicholas Pretorius
Nicholas Pretorius, 53, of Visalia died Monday, Dec. 3, 2001.
There will be no services. Arrangements are by Hadley Funeral Chapel, Visalia.
Mercedes Rocco

Mercedes Rocco, 93, of Visalia died Monday, Dec. 3, 2001. She was a homemaker.
Mercedes was the daughter of Fred and Rosalie Richardi. She was born on Aug. 4, 1908 in Putignano, Italy. Mercedes and her mother were the first two females to come to Visalia from Putignano, Italy, in 1910. They joined her father, who had been here for a year earning money for them to join him. She came in the arms of her mother at the age of 18 months. She was the oldest living person who immigrated to Visalia from Putignano. Mercedes was a very loving and caring person. She loved to teach and share her knowledge with others around her. She was a very superb cook. She was a member of the Sons of Italy for 29 years. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lynn Mohr.
Survivors include two sisters, Georgette White and Alice Moore of Visalia; son-in-law, Burckhart Mohr; two grandchildren, Esther Mohr Hertz of Germany and Michael Mohr of Harbor City, and three great-grandchildren.
The family of Mercedes would like to thank the Nursing & Rehab Center. You were very good to her and we are very thankful.
Mercedes herself requested no service or viewing. Arrangements are by Hadley Funeral Chapel, Visalia.

Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. today at Dopkins Funeral Chapel, Dinuba. Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at the chapel. Interment will be at Smith Mountain Cemetery, Dinuba.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Goble-Miller Funeral Chapel, Tulare. Rosary will be recited 6 p.m. today at the chapel. Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Rita's Catholic Church, Tulare. Interment will be at Tulare District Cemetery.

TULARE -- Fern M. Watkins, 73, of Tulare died Friday, Nov. 30, 2001. She was a retired cook.
A service of remembrance will be 2 p.m. Friday at Miller's Tulare Funeral Home.

Jimmy Aronian, 88, of Visalia died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2001. He was retired from sales.
Burial will be at Ararat Cemetery

Cecilia Benavides

Cecilia Benavides, 78, of Visalia passed away on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2001, in Visalia. She was a homemaker.
She was born, raised and educated in Visalia. She enjoyed children, especially her nieces and nephews. She also enjoyed gardening and reading. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Anita Gomez, Agnes Hinojos, Andrea Gomez and Catalina Gomez; a brother, Guadalupe Gomez and her father, Emilio Campos, her mother, Vicenta Gomez and her stepfather, Leandro Gomez.
Survivors include three brothers, Lucio Gomez of Visalia, Frank Gomez of Visalia and Alex Gomez of Visalia; five sisters, Jenny Ordonez of Visalia, Helen Botello of Tulare, Ramona Reyes of Visalia, Mary Louise Serrano of South Gate and Frances Figueroa of Wyoming; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. Monday at Heritage Funeral Service, 603 N. Court, Visalia. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Visalia District Cemetery.
