Rachael Mutenyo Wamalwa
Rachael Mutenyo Wamalwa, 19, of Visalia died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2001. She was a student.
Rachael Mutenyo Wamalwa was born on Oct. 29, 1981, in Hayward. She graduated from Mt. Whitney High School in 2000, and was in her first year at Sacramento City College. Rachael brought joy and excitement to each person whose life intertwined with hers. Her fun-loving spirit will be sorely missed by her family and friends, in both the U.S. and Kenya. We find peace in the knowledge that Rachael is resting in the arms of her savior, Jesus Christ.
Survivors include her mother, Lind Kakai of Visalia; her father, Steven Barasa Wamalwa of Kenya; a sister, Jacquelyn Wamalwa of Visalia; a half-brother, James Wamalwa of Kenya; many other extended family members.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. today at Miller Memorial Chapel, Visalia. A memorial service will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Faith Baptist Church, 3833 W. Walnut Ave., Visalia. Burial will be private.
Diego Ybarra
Diego James Ybarra, infant son of Marcelino Ybarra Jr. and Monique Michelle Garcia, was born and died on Thursday, Aug. 30, 2001.
Services will be private. Arrangements are by Heritage Funeral Services, Visalia.

Ina M. Todd, 84, of Visalia died Monday, Sept. 3, 2001. She was a nurses' aide.
Lenora M. Higdon
Lenora M. Higdon was born on Sept. 3, 1912, in Flat River, Mo., and passed away on Thursday, July 26, 2001, in Tulare. She moved with her parents, David and Paralee Counts, to Crockett Calif., when she was a child. After graduating from San Jose State College and working briefly in an office, she moved to Tulare to teach in the Tulare schools. She enjoyed teaching in several Tulare area schools, completing her teaching career as head teacher and math resource teacher at Maple School. Teaching children to read and to enjoy math brought her joy.
Her husband, N. Elliott Higdon, with whom she worked in the family jewelry store, preceded her in death. She is survived by her son, David Higdon and his wife Cheryl of Tulare; her son, Bill Higdon and his wife, Carol of Zumbrota, Minn.; her daughter, Betty Higdon of Fresno; her grandsons, Jeremy Higdon of Santa Clara and Tyler Higdon of San Jose; her granddaughter, Tabitha Jack of Tulare; her grandson, Steve LoPresti of Tulare and his wife and children.
Lenora Higdon was a member of the Tulare First United Methodist church and a member and Past Worthy Matron of the Tulare-Corcoran Chapter No. 94 O.E.S.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 3, at Goble-Miller Funeral Chapel, 144 South "L" St., Tulare. Visitation will be 1-8 p.m. Thursday at the chapel. Those who wish to do so may contribute in her memory to a charity of their choice.
John Robert Ives
John Robert Ives, 72, of Sullivan, formerly of San Diego, died Friday, July 27, 2001, at home after a yearlong battle with cancer.
No visitation, private memorial services in San Diego will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Reed Funeral Home of Sullivan, Ill.
John was born on March 2, 1929, in Long Beach. He was the son of John C. Bigham and Margaret Glover Bigham Ives. He retired after 37 years in the Aerospace and Aircraft Manufacturing field from Rhor Industries in Chula Vista. He married Phyllis E. Gallupe on Jan. 22, 1949, in Yuma, Ariz. He and his wife enjoyed many years traveling in their motor home with their good friends "The Whatevers" camping group from San Diego.
Surviving are his wife, daughters, Cindy Haegen and husband, Jan of Sullivan, Ill., Sandra Diane Seals and husband Steve of Visalia; a son, John Christopher Ives of Barstow; grandchildren, Josh Haegen of La Mesa, Jacob Haegen of Mattoon, Ill., Matt Seals of Visalia, Nick Seals of San Luis Obispo and Kayla Ives of Barstow.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father. Memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church of Sullivan, Ill., or Lincolnland Hospice or Carle Cancer Care Center of Champaign-Urbana.
Patricia Ann Jeffrey

Born in Littlefield, Texas to Ozel and Ruth Nash on May 15, 1941, she passed away Saturday, July 28, 2001, in Visalia at the age of 60 years.
She was raised in Texas coming to Tulare County in 1951, she lived in Exeter for a time then moved to Visalia where she married Walter Scott Jeffrey on Feb. 4, 1986, they continued to live in Visalia and he passed away on Feb. 10, 1999.
She is survived by her son, Charles and wife, Vicki McMillan of Woodlake, two daughters, Jennifer and Ashley Jeffrey of Visalia; one daughter, Tanya McMillan passed away on Sept. 25, 1999; sisters, Peggy Thompson and husband, Vernon of Anaheim and Shirley Meek of Visalia; three grandchildren.
Visitation will be 2-7 p.m. Tuesday at Smith Family Chapel, Exeter. Service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel, burial following in the Exeter Cemetery.
Donald Blair Iden

Donald B. Iden, 76, was born on Feb. 20, 1925, in Visalia passed away Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2001, of congestive heart failure. A lifelong resident of Visalia, Donald joined the Air Corps in 1943, as a Bomber pilot, flying a B-25 in World War II was shot down over Germany in 1944, and then POW released in 1945, after receiving a purple heart.
He married Madelyn Snow on June 28, 1946, they settled in Visalia where they lovingly raised three children, and many horses, Iris, and tomatoes, which he shared with his friends and family. Don was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family. Donald will be greatly missed by all of his family. He was a serviceman for Southern California Gas Co.
Survivors include his wife, Madelyn Iden; daughter, Leslie Paredez and husband, Steve of Visalia; sons, Barry Iden and wife, Susan of Visalia and Blair Iden of Visalia; he was preceded in death by his brother, Wade Iden Jr.; he is also survived by his grandchildren, Garrett, Bryce, Riley Iden, Devon Iden Coon, Benjamin, Alison and Joseph Anders.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Visalia District Cemetery. Arrangements are by Hadley Funeral Chapel, Visalia.
