J. Madge Snow
Madge Snow was born in DeWar, Okla., on Aug. 7, 1914, to a family of two sisters, Ruth Young and Ora Hertzog, and two brothers, Ted and Jack Smith. The family moved to Washington in the mid-1920s and shortly thereafter settled in Shafter.
On Oct. 11, 1930, she married Frank Frederick Jacobsen and became the mother of a son and a daughter, Frankie L. Hilderbrand and Ted J. Jacobsen. Frank showered love and attention on Madge and his children. The couple lived in Bakersfield until they divorced in 1947.
On Nov. 11, 1948, she married Gordon Snow, and together they traveled through Europe, Mexico and Hawaii. They lived in Bakersfield for many years and were active in community theater. In the 1950s, Madge was voted the most beautiful woman in Kern County several times. She and Gordon later relocated to Santa Barbara, where they flourished in the real estate business. Even though they later divorced, they remained lifelong friends.
After the divorce, Madge returned to Bakersfield to live with her daughter and son-in-law. She was a lifelong member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Madge was the guiding matriarch of her family who instilled a love for God, music and all things beautiful on the earth in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Madge is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ted and Billie Jacobsen; her daughter and son-in-law, Frankie and Vern Hilderbrand; her grandchildren Pico and Mark Griffith, Scott Hilderbrand, Jennifer Jacobsen and Christina Thurman, and David and Sherry Jacobsen; and her great-grandchildren Ashley, Travis and Kristen Griffith.
She will be missed and loved eternally by all those whose lives she touched.
Arrangements are by Hadley Funeral Chapel, Visalia.

June M. Wells, 79, of Visalia died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001. She was a senior account clerk for Tulare County.
She was born in New Haven, Conn. She was a resident of Tulare County for 53 years. She was a member of The First Baptist Church of Visalia, member of The Tulare County League of Women Voters and past president of Visalia/Tulare Emblem Club, member of Tulare County Retired Employee Association. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Wells, in 1991 and by one sister and three brothers.
Survivors include a son, Chuck Wells and wife, Kathy, of Modesto; two daughters, Barbara Wells Weaver, and husband, David, of Tustin and Debra Wells Williams, and husband, Jim, of Visalia; grandsons, Mark and Steven Wells of Modesto and Chris Williams of Visalia; sisters, Emily Culliton of New Haven, Conn., Mary Rice of New Haven, Conn., and Nell Parisi of New Haven, Conn.; brothers, Robert Ottenbreit and Dwight Ottenbreit both of New Haven, Conn., and survived by many nieces and nephews.
Celebration of life service will be 11 a.m. Monday at The First Baptist Church of Visalia, 1100 S. Sowell Ave., Visalia. Private burial will be at the Exeter District Cemetery. Arrangements are by Hamilton Peers Lorentzen Funeral Service, Tulare.

Cameron Faith Gallegos, infant, born in Visalia to Willie and Ramona Gallegos on March 14, 2001, passed away at the University of California, San Francisco, on Saturday, April 14, 2001.
Survivors include his parents, Willie and Ramona Gallegos of Visalia; one brother, William Christian Gallegos of Visalia; grandparents Salvador and Margarita Gallegos of Lindsay and Juan and Mary Medina of Visalia; and great-grandparents Joe and Maria Jacques of Dinuba.

Gabriel Sanchez

Gabriel Sanchez, 59, of Visalia died Sunday, April 15, 2001.
Gabriel was born and raised in Rancho Municipio de Aguilia de Guallaviyo, Mexico, on June 23, 1941, to Eleodoro and Amelia Sanchez. He lived there until the age of 17, when he moved to California, where he started living and working. Gabriel worked for Valley Furniture for about 10 years as an upholster.
Gabriel is survived by three sisters, Hermila, Eulalia, and Virginia Sanchez of Mexico; three brothers, Ambraham, Modesto and Gumersindo Sanchez of Mexico; and many nieces and nephews. Gabriel was a loving son, brother and uncle and will be greatly missed by many family members and friends.
Visitation will be 2-7 p.m. Thursday at Miller Memorial Chapel, Visalia. Rosary will be 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the chapel. Mass will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Goshen.

Warren Alcott Shoemaker, 97, of Visalia died Sunday, April 15, 2001. He was a retired pastor for the American Baptist Church.
A memorial service will be April 29, following the second service at First Baptist Church on Sowell Street, Visalia. Interment will be private. Arrangements are by Heritage Funeral Services, Visalia.
