Fay Hodges

Public accountant

Fay Hodges, a man known for his love of God and willingness to help others, passed away early Monday morning in Visalia at age 76.
At age 11, he and his family left their farm in Lincoln, Ark., during the Great Depression and moved to Southern California. While serving in the Army during World War II, he was critically wounded in a German artillery attack a month before his 20th birthday. While recovering from his injuries stateside, he met the woman who would become his wife of almost 55 years, an army surgical technician named Noreen. Mr. Hodges moved to Visalia in 1977 while working for SSP, the maker of many of the wind machines that still protect area orange groves. After leaving SSP, he served as the business administrator for the Visalia YMCA before retiring in 1988. He was ordained that year as a pastor by the Palmdale Fellowship Church. He took special delight in performing the weddings and baptisms of family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Noreen; son, Michael; daughter, Deirdre Swanson; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Visalia United Methodist Church. Arrangements are by Hadley Funeral Chapel, Visalia.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Hodges name may be made to the charity of your choice or to the Aldersgate Ministries, in care of the Visalia United Methodist Church.

Francis Mildred Pullen
Retired tacker

Francis Mildred Pullen, 74, of Visalia died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001. She was a retired tacker for Bayly's Manufacturing.
Francis M. Pullen, "Milly" to her friends, was born in Caddo, Okla., on Oct. 2, 1926, to William and Saidie Speers. She was raised and educated in Caddo. Milly moved to California in 1945. Milly loved to garden and crochet. She attended Woodland Drive Baptist Church in Visalia. She taught Sunday school because children were her favorites, attended Bible study and was active in various other church functions. Milly was very giving, loving and encouraging to all.

Survivors include her husband of 22 years, Charles Pullen of Visalia; two daughters, Sandra Hall of Las Vegas, Nev., and Brenda Harvey of Clovis; seven grandchildren, Amber Wassen, Heather Harvey, Kally Harvey, Eric Broyles, Cayl Harvey, Weston Harvey and Levi Harvey; three great-grandchildren, Britney Ketchie, Samantha Broyles and Celeste Broyles; three sisters, Frankie Gilbet and Mary Grace of  Oklahoma and Lucille Goatcher of California; and one brother, W. L. Speers of  Oklahoma.

Visitation was already held. Services will be 10:30 a.m. today at Woodland Drive Baptist Church, Visalia. Interment will be at Visalia District Cemetery.

Dorothy F.  White

Dorothy F.  White, 83, of Visalia passed away on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001.
Memorial Mass will be 8:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Visalia. Inurnment will be private. Arrangements are by Hadley Funeral Chapel, Visalia.

Rosalie A.  White

Retired clerk

CUTLER -- Rosalie A.  White, 88, of Kingsburg died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001. She was a retired clerk for the U.S. Postal Service.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Dopkins Funeral Chapel, Dinuba. Interment will be at Smith Mountain Cemetery. Dinuba.

Boyd Ansel Goodell

Boyd Ansel Goodell, 81, of Visalia died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2001. He was a pharmacist for 36 years.
There will be no services. Arrangements are by Neptune Society, Fresno.

Paul Freehauf

EL PASO,  Texas -- Paul Freehauf, 52, of El Paso,  Texas, died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2001. He was a former resident of Visalia. He was a chemist and an elementary teacher.
A memorial service will be in Visalia at a later date. Arrangements are by Lapaz Funeral Home, El Paso,  Texas.

Catherine P. Puhach

Catherine P. Puhach, 87, of Visalia died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001. She was a retired nurse.
Mrs. Puhach was born in Wood River, Ill., on Jan. 7, 1914, to Steve and Anna (Hrvatovich) Pavicich. She graduated from St. Bernard's Grade School, Marquette High School and St. Joseph's School of Nursing. She practiced nursing for a number of years before she married George Puhach on Aug. 20, 1949. They lived in Bozeman, Mont., where she continued to practice nursing with Dr. Eppler and later became a financial coordinator in his office. Mr. Puhach died in 1995, and then she decided to move to Visalia to be with her sisters. She was a member of the Catholic church. She is preceded in death by her parents, a brother and sister.

Survivors include two sisters, Mary Pavitchich and Rose Ferguson of Visalia; a niece, Nancy Ferguson; and grandnephew, Geoffrey Martinez of Wood River, Ill.

Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at Miller Memorial Chapel, Visalia. Rosary will be 7 p.m. Monday at Miller Memorial Chapel. Mass of Christian burial will be 9 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Visalia. Burial will be at Visalia District Cemetery.

Chan See

Chan See, 80, of Visalia died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001. He was a farmer.
Visitations were already held. Graveside service will be 10 a.m. today at Visalia District Cemetery. Arrangements are by Heritage Funeral Services, Visalia.

Thomas Gilbert, 63, of Visalia died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2000. He was retired.
Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. today at Evans-Miller Exeter Chapel, Exeter. Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Evans-Miller Exeter Chapel.

Maxine L. Fleeman

SPARKS, Nev. -- Maxine L. Fleeman, 72, of Sparks, Nev., died Friday, Jan. 19, 2001. She was retired from Gemco department store.
She was born on May 17, 1928, in Lindsay to Walter H. and Mabel Turner Todd. She was a resident of Sparks since 1961, coming from Visalia. She was preceded in death by Harry Fleeman in 1999. She was a member of Ladies of the Moose.

Survivors include son, Randy Fleeman of Reno, Nev.; daughter, Sue Coombes of Sparks, Nev.; daughter, Glenda Patrick of Sparks, Nev.; brother, Walter Todd, Jr. of Huntington Park; sister, Shirley of Hisperia; six grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

Visitations were already held. Services and burial were already held. Arrangements were by Walton Funeral Home, Reno, Nevada.

Charlie Lester Davis

TULARE -- Charlie Lester Davis, 73, of Tulare died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001. He was a truck driver.
Visitation will be noon to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hamilton Peers Lorentzen Funeral Chapel, Tulare. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Abundant Life Center, Tulare. Interment will be at Hilmar Cemetery, Hilmar.

Remembrances may be made to the Charlie Davis Memorial Fund, Abundant Life Center, Christian Ministries, 2201 E. Bardsley Ave., Tulare, CA 93274.

Forrest M. Crosson

EXETER -- Forrest M. Crosson, 83, of Exeter died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2001. He was a supervisor.
He was born in Morrison, Okla., on May 28, 1917, to George and Alice Crosson. At the age of 5, he moved with his family to Independence, Kan., where he was raised and educated in Independence City schools. He served 29 months in the South Pacific for the U.S. Coast Guard from 1942 to 1945 aboard the USS Leonard Wood. After his discharge, he married Betty Zoe Rumley in Visalia in 1946. They made their home in Visalia until 1973, when they moved to Exeter. Forrest was a ground maintenance supervisor for College of the Sequoias, retiring in 1979. He was a member of the Visalia United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. His hobbies included hunting and fishing.

Survivors include wife, Betty Zoe Crosson of Exeter; one daughter, Cheryl Ann Seminario-Crosson of San Mateo; one grandson, Michael William McGee Jr. of Foster City; two brothers, William Allen Crosson of Goondoon, Australia, and Waldo B. Crosson of Exeter; one sister, Ruth Elizabeth Boardman of Monmouth, Ore.; and six nieces and nephews.

Services will be private. Arrangements are by Miller Memorial Chapel, Visalia.
