Refugio ‘Cuco’ Salgado
Refugio “Cuco” Salgado died Dec. 30, 2003, at home on his 73rd birthday in Gilroy, after a lengthy illness.
He was a native of Santa Paula. He worked at Gentry’s as a machine operator for 35 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of St. Mary’s Church. He loved to sing and play his guitar. He enjoyed his grandkids and took pride in all of them. He also enjoyed taking care of his yard.
He was the husband of the late Julia Salgado; father of Monica and her husband, Manuel Chavira, of Gilroy, and the late Theresa Salgado; dear companion of Hope “SP” Murphy of Gilroy; grandfather of Gabriel Hernandez of Gilroy, Jarrod Hernandez of Gilroy, Raymond and his wife Zinnia Hernandez of Gilroy, Adrianna Hernandez of Gilroy, and Rosanna Hernandez of Gilroy; great-grandfather of Gabriel Hernandez Jr. of Gilroy, Julian Hernandez of Gilroy and Raymond Refugio Hernandez Jr. of Gilroy; brother of Ramiro Salgado of Gilroy, Mundo and his wife, Juana Salgado, of Gilroy, Rudy and his wife, Pat Salgado, of Gilroy, Rosa Perez of Santa Paula, and Chavela and her husband, Danny Lozano, of San Jose. He also id survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Luciano and Ruth Salgado.
Services were Monday, Jan. 5, at Habing Family Funeral Home followed by Funeral Mass at Mary’s Church. Burial was at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Gilroy.
Gayanell Sturla
Gayanell Sturla died Jan. 1, 2004, in Redwood City.
Gay was born in Jericho Springs, Mo., and later moved to Gilroy where she graduated from Gilroy High School.
She is survived by her daughter Lori Bihler and her husband Wayne of San Jose; sons Brian Sturla and his wife Diane of Gilroy, and Jay Sturla and his fiancé Julie Van Vactor of Gilroy; grandchildren Danielle and Kristi; sister Gladys Cameron of Lancaster and brother Wayne Potter of Nebraska.
She was preceded in death by her husband James;.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 9, at Habing Family Funeral Home, Gilroy. Private burial will take place at Golden Gate National Cemetery, San Bruno.
Jessie Katherine H. Crabb
Jessie Katherine Henline Crabb died Sunday, Dec., 28, 2003, at her son's home in Morgan Hill.
Jessie Crabb was born Feb 8, 1912, in Illinois.
She was survived by her sister Dorothy Richardson of Cincinnati, Ohio; and children Richard Lee, Roger Allen, Joyce Ann Bay and Robert Edward.
Interment will be at Rose Hills Cemetery
in Whittier at a later date. Local arrangements were under the direction of Habing Family Funeral Home in Gilroy.
Cora ‘Boots’ Decker
Cora “Boots” Decker died Jan. 5, 2004, at the age of 75.
She is survived by her son Dude Decker and his wife Deanna; daughter JoAnn Holley; granddaughters Danni Hernandez and husband Robert Pacheco, Renae O’Neill and husband Mike, Denee Mulvihill and husband Kevin; grandsons Dude Walter Decker, Darrol Decker and Shayne Erickson.
“Big Grandma” also is survived by great-grandchildren Jairome, Jenae, Shawn, Jesse, Alexis and Victoria.
Graveside service was at 11 a.m. today, Jan. 9, at Mount Hope Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
Robert M. Dunn
Robert M. Dunn, 80, died Jan. 4, 2004 in Oklahoma. He was a native of Wellston, Ohio and former resident of Morgan Hill. He was preceded in death by his daughter Susan Joy. He is survived by children Deborah Pennington and her husband Earl of Morgan Hill, Lisa Smith of Lyndonville, N.Y., Robert Jackson and his wife Mattie of Vidor, Texas; Kerry Richardson and his wife Donna of Idabel, Okla. He will be missed by his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mr. Dunn served in the Army during World War II in the South Pacific.
Services will be held in Marlow, Okla. with interment at Fort Sill, Okla. today, Jan. 9.
Robert M. Gonzalez
Robert Marshall Gonzalez died Jan. 2, 2004, in Gilroy where he had lived all his life. He was 64.
He is survived by daughter Raquel Gonzalez; grandchildren Taylor and Tanner Gonzalez of San Jose, Andrae Martinez and Clarissa Tomasetti of Gilroy; goddaughter Lisa Arrellano; siblings Eddie Gonzales of San Jose, George and Richard Gonzales of Gilroy, Adeline Padilla of Morgan Hill, Dolores Bravo of Auburn, Jeanette (Net) Grisby and Mitie Gonzales of Gilroy.
He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Freida Gonzales; son Mark Gonzalez; and brother Larry Gonzales.
Graveside services took place at noon today, Jan. 9, at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Habing Family, Gilroy.
Daniel H. Souza
Daniel H. Souza of Morgan Hill died Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002. He was 77.
A retired pharmacist at Monte Mart Pharmacy, he was a member of the Santa Clara County Pharmacists, treasurer of St. Vincent DePaul and volunteered at the Morgan Library, Meals on Wheels, the San Jose Tech Museum. He called Bingo at Valley Pines and was very active at St. Catherine Church, doing landscaping and many other things. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Erline L. Souza; son Christopher Souza of Morgan Hill; and sister Florence Migues of San Jose.
Friends are invited to attend Vigil Service at 7:30 tonight at St. Catherine Church. Funeral Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church with entombment to follow at Mission Memorial Park in Seaside.
Arrangements were under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
Idalinda Gamino
Idalinda Gamino died Thursday, Jan. 15, 2004, at her home in Gilroy at the age of 48 years.
She was the loving wife of J. Marcos Gamino of Gilroy; loving mother of Laura, Liza and Marky Gamino, all of Gilroy; grandmother of Esmeralda Gamino of Gilroy; sister of Marga Atilano of Morgan Hill, Marylou Lopez of Fresno, Mary Esther Lopez of Morgan Hill, Kathy Lopez of Morgan Hill and Andy Lopez of Morgan Hill. She also is survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Pedro and Alcaria Lopez.
Funeral Mass was this morning, Jan. 20, at St. Mary's Church folloed by burial at St. Mary's Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of Habing Family Funeral Home, Gilroy.
