Mary Elizabeth (Beth) Fullerton

Mary Elizabeth (Beth) Fullerton died Aug. 15, 2004 in Walla Walla, Wash. She was 59.

Beth was born in Gilroy and lived in Morgan Hill for the majority of her life. She was dearly loved by so many people. She was a true friend to those who needed a helping hand or a word of encouragement. Beth will be greatly missed by everyone.

She is survived by her mother Clara May Fullerton of Colville, Wash.; her husband Dennis Eckelberger of Walla Walla, Wash.; her brothers Gary Fullerton of Yakima, Wash. and Glen Fullerton of San Jose; and numerous nieces and nephews as well as family members. She was preceded in death by her baby daughter Jamie Claudette and her grandparents Paul and Elizabeth Condit.

Memorial service takes place at 11am on Saturday, Aug. 28, at Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Jewel G. Cirelli

Jewel G. Cirelli died Aug. 19, 2004, at her home in Gilroy.

Jewel was a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed being with her family, friends and attending events around town especially at the senior center and New Hope Community Church.

Jewel is survived by her sisters Lorraine Horst, Ellen and her husband Clyde McGinnis, and Hazel and her husband Santo Caliri. She also leaves many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Cirelli.

Visitation will be from 10-noon Monday, Aug. 23, at Habing Family Funeral Home. Graveside Services will follow at 1pm at the Pajaro Valley Memorial Park, Watsonville.

Lorenzo Tarin Jr.

Lorenzo Tarin Jr. died Aug. 17, 2004, in Salinas. He was 19.

Lorenzo was born in San Jose. He graduated from Central High School in Morgan Hill and lived there prior to moving to Los Banos just over a year ago. He attended The Apostolic Assembly in Los Banos.

He is survived by his parents Lorenzo Tarin Sr. of Merced and Lori Guzmanof Los Banos; grandparents Mary Helen Lopez of Los Banos and Jose Andres Lopez of Gilroy and Concepcion Tarin of Merced; brothers and sisters Elizabeth Tarin of Los Banos, Jose Tarin of Los Banos, Daniel Guzman of Los Banos and Andrea Lopez of Los Banos; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Friends can pay their respects after 10am on Monday, Aug. 23, at

Services were Monday, Aug. 23, at The Apostolic Assembly Learning Center, 153 5th St., Hollister. Interment and graveside services were at the IOOF Cemetery in Hollister.

Arrangements were under the direction of Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home in Hollister.

George H. Williams

George H. Williams, a native of  Washington, Okla., died Aug. 17, 2004, at his home in Morgan Hill. He was 85.

Williams was the loving husband of 61 years to Christine Williams of Morgan Hill; dear father of Sheila Pendergrass and her husband Robert of San Jose, and the late Robert Lee Williams; grandfather of Patty Brenner, Robert Williams, Diana Williams, Debbie Comstock, Renee DeVillez and Derek Venema; great-grandfather of Aaron, Jennifer, Justin, Nikolas, Olivia, Nicole, James, Nicole and Trystina; and great-great-grandfather of Danielle. He was the brother of Madella Ivy.

Williams was preceded in death by other sisters and brothers.

Arrangements were made by Habing Family Funeral Home. The family asks that any donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Richard David Bremer

Richard David Bremer died July 15, 2004, in Reno, Nev., after a year-long battle with brain cancer. He was born July 5, 1955, in Gilroy.

He was the loving husband of Mary for 30 years; son-in-law of Mary and Leonard Goss; devoted father to Suzanne, Lizanne, Dianne, Joanne and Richard Jr.; loving grandfather of five; brother of Darlene Bega, Ed Bremer Jr. and Gwen Barney; and uncle to many nieces and nephews. He also is survived by his aunt Edna.

Bremer was preceded in death by his son Greg and one granddaughter.

He was the son of the late Walter and Elsie Bremer of Morgan Hill.

Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Richard’s life at 6pm Thursday, Aug. 26, in the El Toro Room and the Morgan Hill Community and Cultural Center, 17000 Monterey Road.

Armando ‘Pete’ Badillo

Armando ‘Pete’ Badillo died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2004, in Morgan Hill.

Born Sept. 11, 1938, in Sonora,  Texas, Armando graduated from Sonora High School where he held the record for pole vaulting 12 years after graduating. He attended  Texas Tech in Lubbock,  Texas. He was in the U.S. Army Infantry during the Cuban Missile Crisis and received an honorable discharge.

Armando was a master builder and was featured in the San Jose Mercury News for the restoration of a historical windmill in Gilroy. Armando was very knowledgeable in history and current events. He always was ready to share his knowledge with others. His family knew him for his sense of humor.

He is survived by his wife, Leonora Badillo; sons and daughters, Peter Badillo and wife Susan, Javier Badillo and wife Iris, Armando Badillo, Norma Fournier and husband Joshua, Genovea Badillo and Hortencia Badillo; brothers Leandro Badillo and Richard Badillo; sisters, Ofelia Perez, Juanita Berlanga, Manuela Vargas, Tome Sanchez, Anna Cardona, Gina Gamez and Pauline Mendez; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial Mass takes place at 12:30pm on Saturday, Aug. 28, at St. Catherine’s Church.

Mary Yuhas

Former San Martin resident Mary Yuhas died Aug. 21, 2004, in Missoula, Mont., at age 83.

She was the widow of longtime Morgan Hill physician, Dr. Joe Yuhas.

She is survived by daughters Susie, Mary and Margie and their spouses; son David and his wife; and eight grandchildren.

Services take place at 11am on Thursday, Aug. 26, at the First Presbyterian Church in Missoula, Mont.

Remembrances may be sent c/o 5828 Homestead Place, Florence, Mont., 59833.

The family asks that any donations be made to a favorite charity.

Cecil H. (John) Truax

Cecil H. (John) Truax died Saturday, Aug. 28, 2004, after a long bout with lung cancer.

“Johnny” died peacefully in his sleep at home, as he had wished, in the care of his good friend and companion for the past six months, Barbara (Bobbie) Nelson, of Daly City.

John was a refrigeration repairman in the southern Santa Clara County area for more than 20 years until his illnesses forced him to retire in 1999. Born in New Mexico on May 18, 1941, to Earl and Cecil Truax, he was the youngest of 14 siblings. He also served as a Navy Seabee for nine years.

His family and friends would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Leslie  Schmidt, Dr. Kimberly Shepard and their staff at San Martin and at San Jose Valley Medical Center for doing more than their best for John. Also, a big hug and kiss for Cathy Larson, RN, at Valley Medical Center for her overwhelming kindness to John - he loved her dearly.

He is survived by his loving daughter “Mandy” Allen and her mother Kathy of Kent, Wash. He also is survived by Mark Dambaugh, Kevin Haile, John Lancer, Sal Serros, Bobby Serros, Richard Ayala and Juan Coronado, with whom he spoke with frequently as well as a host of other friends. He will be especially remembered by his good friend Felix Ordiniza of Hollister, who knew him as “Pilgrim” and enjoyed their many Dutch oven “cook-offs.” Felix’ son, Anthony, was his beloved Godson having been born on John’s 43rd birthday.

There will be no funeral at John’s request. A “remembrance party” party is being planned around Navy week with notices going out to those interested in attending. Contact Barbara at (408) 686-0975.
